Cards for the 2017 Aries Ingress

Here are the cards I pulled for today’s Aries ingress.

Appropriately, The Emperor came up. He’s the Aries card, and he’s reversed. This means his authority and power are distorted – he’s autocratic and/or powerless. Fear of being powerless can result in overcompensation. Then we have The Devil. This is the Capricorn card, so it echoes the Capricorn/Aries square of the third quarter Moon I wrote about here. The Devil is about being a slave to an unhealthy situation. In this case, that would be the powerlessness of the Emperor.

Where do you feel powerless? Is someone in authority overcompensating for their lack of power, and making you feel trapped? If you look at the Devil card, the chains are loose. You’re not stuck in this situation.

The 5 of Wands reversed is the final card. This is the card of struggle. If upright, it’s necessary struggle/competition. But reversed, it means you’re avoiding the struggle. Saturn in Leo is associated with this card – the effort to manifest (Saturn) something special (Leo). Have you given up the fight because you think you don’t have the power? There’s something worth creating, and it’s going to take effort.

The Emperor and 5 of Wands are Fire cards, while The Devil is Earth. Fire plus Fire is strong, but Earth sits between them. Earth and Fire don’t undermine or strengthen each other. This means all the energies in the spread are moderated. The struggle doesn’t have to be overwhelming – the negativity of the Devil is a bit less. It won’t be a cakewalk, but there’s something worth fighting for and it’s achievable.

Want some guidance, but can’t wait for an astrology reading? My tarot readings are an excellent alternative- wait times are one to three days.

Pluto returns in the Roman Empire: A history lesson

Planetary returns are typically very significant times in a person’s life.  The first return of Mars to its place in the birthchart just after the age of two marks the “terrible twos” – the returns of Saturn at age 28-30 and 56-60 mark major shifts of focus from youth to achievement (first return), and then from […]

Aries Season: Open The Window

Leon Wyczółkowski

Leon Wyczółkowski

Aries season kicks off on March 20th. The Sun’s ingress into the first sign marks the Vernal Equinox. The hours of daylight and darkness are equal, tipping over into longer days as we move forward.

Aries already has some significant action happening, with Venus Rx, Mercury, and of course, Uranus. This area of your chart is primed for a reboot, and the first day of spring may trigger it. All the usual symbolism applies: new life, primal impulses and unrefined initiative. This is raw energy, bursting with potential.

This Aries ingress coincides with the last quarter square of the Moon. A few hours after the Sun enters Aries, the Moon at 0 degrees Capricorn will square it. This part of the lunar cycle was described by Dane Rudhyar as a “crisis in consciousness.” Old beliefs are challenged by newly emerging beliefs. Maybe you don’t fit in where you used to fit in. Maybe you find yourself disagreeing with the prevailing beliefs of your family, friends or industry. The discomfort of the square pushes you to find something new – new rules, new structures, new definitions of status (Capricorn).

There may not be an obvious crisis. You might just feel a growing sense of restlessness – an urge to let some fresh air in. Do the usual routines, conversations or interests suddenly feel stale? Venus Rx has already been pushing you to reevaluate. Now the Vernal Equinox will up the stakes – something new is emerging. All the aspects the Aries Sun makes, plus the New and Full Moons, will be points of clarity, intensification or tension that are designed to stimulate progress.

The March 27th New Moon will trigger your emergence from the crisis of the last quarter square. This will be your new idea/direction, and Venus Rx will play an essential role.

Here are the aspects the Sun in Aries will make:

  • Mar 23rd: inconjunct the Virgo North Node (3 deg)
  • Mar 24th: trine Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius (4 deg)
  • Mar 25th: conjunct Venus Rx (4 deg)
  • Mar 27th: New Moon in Aries (7 deg)
  • Apr 4th: square Juno in Capricorn (15 deg)
  • Apr 7th: opposite Jupiter Rx in Libra (18 deg)
  • Apr 8th: square Pluto in Capricorn (19 deg)
  • Apr 11th: Full Moon in Libra (21 deg)
  • Apr 14th: conjunct Uranus (24 deg)
  • Apr 14th: square Vesta in Cancer (25 deg)
  • Apr 17th: trine Saturn Rx in Sagittarius (27 deg)
  • Apr 19th: Taurus ingress

Fair Tax Act? The Unfair Tax Act

Astrologer Kevin Estes writes from California regarding the GOP’s Fair Tax Act as Pluto takes a bow:

Fair Tax Act? The Unfair Tax Act

by Kevin Estes

The "Fair Tax Act" has recently been proposed by the House of Representatives. If it’s approved, the income tax would be abolished and replaced with a 20% sales tax on all taxable items. Sounds good, but when you do your research, it’s really
