Overview
2018 kicks off with some full-throttle influences, so let’s dive in and see what’s going on.
The January 1st Full Moon in Cancer brings emotions and needs to a boil. Parental issues, feeling safe and feeling accepted will be hi-lighted, and the Moon’s inclusion in a Grand Water Trine consisting of Mars and Neptune ensures that everything will bubble over. The Moon’s opposition to the Sun, Venus and Black Moon Lilith in Capricorn suggest that gender dynamics and various rules around acceptable/unacceptable female energy will also be featured.
Uranus Direct: The Final Chapter
Uranus stations direct (at 24 degrees Aries) on January 2nd, kicking off its final chapter in this sign. Uranus first entered Aries on May 27th, 2010 and will exit Aries for Taurus on May 15th, 2018 (Uranus will briefly reenter Aries from November 6th, 2018-March 6th, 2019). Uranus in Aries was a primal break from the past. It may have brought you something/someone totally unexpected. It may have been a catalyst for your rebirth and liberation. It may have completely upended your life.
In the final months of its tour through Aries, changes/disruptions may intensify if you’ve somehow managed to cling to what’s outdated. If you’ve been on board with Uranus’ agenda, or there’s nothing else in your life that can be disrupted, you may experience these final months as a period of calm with Uranus receding into the distance. Much depends on your chart – planets, angles and Nodes from 24 to 29 degrees of the Cardinal signs will be feeling this last portion of Uranus’ transit most strongly. If you have anything at 23 degrees (or less) of the Cardinal signs, Uranus is done with that part of your life, forever.
Mars and Jupiter: Going All The Way
Also on January 2nd, Mars (ruler of Aries) squares the Nodes from Scorpio, at 15 degrees. This includes the Uranus-ruled South Node in Aquarius. Uranus’ final shake up will be connected to actions (Mars) that bring you to a turning point – stick with the past and stay on the fringes (Aquarian South Node) or move towards the centre and bring light, pride and power to what you’re doing (Leo North Node). A square to the Nodes always gives you a choice. A profound commitment (Scorpio) to what you’re doing (Mars) will be key, and Uranus direct ensures that it will be very difficult to stick with what was. On December 24th, Jupiter in Scorpio also squared the Nodes, so these two dates may be connected.
On January 6th, Jupiter and Mars conjoin at 17 degrees Scorpio, presenting a culmination or solution to issues from December 24th and January 2nd. The choice has been made and the opportunity is here – act now. Jupiter pushes Mars to do more/go deeper, and Mars excites Jupiter’s ideals and hopes for the future. This is a powerful surge of motivation and confidence, given added depth by all-or-nothing Scorpio. There could be an intensive (or fanatical) commitment to an ideal that you’re ready to fight for. There could be a rich opportunity to do something that makes more money, creates deeper (and hotter) intimacy or strengthens your body/survival instincts/personal power. Supportive sextiles from Mars/Jupiter to the Capricorn Sun, Black Moon Lilith, Venus and Pluto (which will extend to January 15th) mean that you’ll be on track because you’ll be grounded – structures and rules will be your friends as they guide you forward.
This is all quite positive, but I will include a warning. Mars/Jupiter can take things too far, especially when Scorpio is involved. Jupiter can expand anything, including anger, obsession and the desire for vengeance. He’s usually jolly Jupiter, but there are plenty of examples where this big boy amplifies something negative. There are no limits here (the sextiles to the Capricorn planets may be nothing more than quiet reminders of what you should do). If your goal is obsessive or destructive, you can easily go off the deep end. Or, you may simply have really good intentions and take on way too much (because you’ll feel superhuman). You may be totally convinced that your next step is the right one. It probably is, but pause for just a second and make sure. Whatever you activate will go all the way, and it will be almost impossible to pull it back.
Aries
The Full Moon in your domestic sector can activate issues involving a parent, child, your own childhood or family needs versus success and status. Results can include a relocation, change in family dynamics or change in career. Professional reputation, or a professional relationship, may be hi-lighted. Watch for intense emotional undercurrents around private issues, money or intimacy – what’s happening behind the scenes will drive surface events.
Uranus direct in your sign can push you towards the finish line. Disruption, liberation or an awakening that began around May 2010 is nearing completion, and Mars square the Nodes will connect to this with some tension involving shared finances or intimacy. Actions that you take behind the scenes may involve your attempts to stand out, attract, create or simply be yourself. You may be pushing for something extra, but you’ll have to balance this against what’s available. This could refer back to the events of December 24th, 2017.
The Mars/Jupiter conjunction in your sector of shared resources will bring issues to a head, with growth in the areas of debts, taxes, loans, your partner’s finances or intimacy. There may be an effort to pay something off, make a big purchase, or get closer to someone. Efforts should be in harmony with future goals or ambitions. A professional relationship can flourish, due to what goes on in private.
Taurus
The Full Moon in your communication sector can bring an emotional answer, conversation or realization involving education, travel, long-distance romance, legal matters or publishing. Public judgements or pronouncements may be an issue. Someone else’s efforts/reactions (a partner, potential partner or close friend) will drive the matter, and acceptable versus taboo, or private made public will be on display. This Moon does support reaching out to others and public speaking.
Uranus direct in your hidden sector can clear away a final point of resistance to a change that’s been percolating since May 2010. As Uranus accelerates, get ready for its ingress to your sign in May 2018. What’s been simmering in the background may come out. Mars square the Nodes connects partnership issues to these background changes, as the efforts/reactions of someone else impacts your home and professional life. Projected ambitions (someone else’s ideas of success) may be an issue. This could refer back to events of December 24th, 2017.
The Mars/Jupiter conjunction unites ideas of partnership growth with efforts to make it happen. Watch for a great leap forward in a new or existing relationship. In some cases, if the relationship is not doing well, one partner may leave. Either way, expansion into the future is favoured, as new goals for both of you (including travel, relocation or education) are energized. This will happen whether you’re on the same path or your paths are diverging, but the overall feeling is one of hope and expectation. A professional partnership can also flourish, as your joint ambitions combine to make both of you more successful.
Gemini
The Full Moon in your sector of personal resources brings a culmination involving earned money, self-esteem or emotional security. Actions related to work, health or self-improvement will be featured, and you could successfully achieve what you need. However, there may also be difficult dynamics involving the power balance between and another, especially in terms of intimacy or shared resources. You could feel a strong urge to protect what’s yours.
Uranus direct in your social sector brings you to the final stretch of changes/upheaval involving friends or group associations. What began around May 2010 as a new, liberated chapter in your relationships with others is now winding down. Any final outdated connections or adherence to restrictive social rules will be shaken, until Uranus exits this sector in May 2018. Mars square the Nodes may connect this to your efforts to improve, strengthen or tackle an increased workload. There’s significant ambition and energy to get things done, but you’ll have to look closely at how you’re expending that energy. There may be a need for further organization, which will help you zero in on what you should do, rather than distracting yourself with busywork. This could refer back to the events of December 24th, 2017.
The Mars/Jupiter conjunction brings it all together, with a burst of energy and a huge opportunity to make a difference in your health and/or work routine. The weight of responsibility could increase, but you’ll have a massive pool of initiative to tackle whatever’s thrown at you. Use it wisely – there may be a temptation to take on too much or scatter your focus. This could be the time for you to overhaul your diet or lifestyle. Whatever actions you take will support your intimate connection to a partner (or they may encourage you). Too, this could be about finding a more effective way to handle your finances – watch for an opportunity to invest wisely and lucratively.
Cancer
The Full Moon in your sign puts the spotlight on your essential needs. What you’re getting/not getting from a partner may be hi-lighted – watch for projected parental issues. You are not their parent, and they are not your mommy or daddy. This Moon can trigger an overflow of feelings around a new attraction and your drive to be noticed/appreciated.
Uranus direct in your career sector can accelerate changes in an existing job, or trigger a final push to break away from an unsatisfying/restrictive career path. It may be time to take that leap into something new, or to make those final tweaks to the ongoing shift in your definition of status and success. Mars square the Nodes can bring you to a related turning point regarding earned money and self-sufficiency, as you’re presented with a choice about how to fully express your creativity, originality or drive to be noticed. This could refer back to the events of December 24th, 2017.
The Mars/Jupiter conjunction presents a major opportunity to grab attention/appreciation for yourself. It may be time to stand up and show others your talents – people are watching. Too, there could be a chance to pursue someone you’re attracted to, or celebrate what you have. New and existing partnerships are favoured, with a mix of expansive fun, intense romance and commitment.
Leo
The Full Moon in your hidden sector can illuminate a secret or unforeseen result. Work, heath matters or obligations could come to a peak, along with issues of who’s deserving of assistance. Self-improvement could be in the spotlight. There may be emotional undercurrents involving family secrets, unspoken issues or home finances, although this Moon will be an excellent release for whatever’s been brewing.
Uranus direct in your sector of opportunities can trigger a final disruption/breakaway around education, travel, legal matters or publishing. A relocation that’s been delayed may finally go forward, and Mars square the Nodes (including the North Node in your sign) connects this to family, home business or changes to the home environment. But these changes will have to be balanced against what a partner has in mind versus your personal goals. This could refer back to events of December 24th, 2017.
The Mars/Jupiter conjunction can offer a resolution, with a big move, renovation or home expansion. Too, buried family issues can erupt. However, supportive aspects to planets in your sector of routine suggest any domestic changes should be improvements to your existing situations (renovations or a relocation to a better place are favoured) and actions will be supported by practical routines. If you feel overwhelmed, break down what you have to do and approach it systematically.
Virgo
The Full Moon in your social sector can illuminate issues with friends, groups or your connections to the public in general. Attention seeking, an intense romantic attraction or creative displays may be areas where you see results. Watch for judgements or reactions from others on how you express you (sexuality or taboo behaviour may be issues). The open communication of feelings may be a theme, and what you say to a partner, someone you’d like to have as your partner, or a close friend, could be important. If something has to be said, it will probably come out.
Uranus direct sector of shared resources suggests a final push in the areas of debts, taxes, loans, your partner’s finances or intimacy. There could also be a final disruption or loss of control, if you’ve been ignoring the need for change. Mars square the Nodes suggests an assertive statement, conversation or argument may be part of the picture, and the question will be whether to remain stuck on inconsequential details or move beyond your worries and pursue something with bigger potential. Keep analyzing, or leap forward? This could refer back to events of December 24th, 2017
Mars/Jupiter can propel you forward, with a massive shot of optimism and inspiration. If the idea is hot and the opportunity is in front of you, go for it. Write it, say it. Too, a buried issue may erupt, and even though the words may be overwhelming, ultimately this will encourage your self-expression, creativity or confidence. Excellent for promoting your work or declaring your intentions.
Libra
The Full Moon in your career sector can bring results around a new job, your professional image or your level of satisfaction/security with future goals. Who you are in your private life can define professional outcomes, for better or worse. This can include what you’re comfortable revealing to others. This Moon does feature favourable energies for earned money and daily security – watch for opportunities to blend daily routines/work habits with money-making potential.
Uranus direct in your partnership sector can trigger progress (or endings) in a relationship, depending on the current state of things. A new/unexpected relationship that’s come into your life may be poised for more surprises. An existing relationship that’s grown stale will undergo one last shake up before Uranus leaves this sector in May 2018. Mars square the Nodes suggests efforts to maintain security, get what you want or earn more money may be part of the picture – this is about how your ambitions impact others, and how this isn’t just about you. This could refer back to events of December 24th, 2017.
The Mars/Jupiter conjunction can present you with a financial bonus (based on your efforts), big expenses or a breakthrough around how you get your essential needs met. There can be a boost in your self-esteem, along with renewed energy to make things happen for yourself. Your efforts should also encourage positive outcomes at home/with family.
Scorpio
The Full Moon in your sector of opportunities can illuminate an issue around travel, education, legal matters, publishing or beliefs. What you learn or communicate will be driven by the trine to Mars in your sign, as passion, anger or initiative up the emotional stakes. This could be about saying what needs to be said, or passing judgement on a gender/sexual issue.
Uranus direct in your sector of routine represents a final push to improve, change jobs or deal with a health issue. Changes to your daily routine that began around May 2010 are in their final phase, which can be good news if you’ve had enough of unpredictable events. Then again, if you’ve stubbornly resisted the need to break old habits, this could be your wake up call. Mars in your sign, square the Nodes, will feed into this with a call to action – you may have to choose between family loyalties/ingrained patterns versus your future success and ambitions. This could refer back to events of December 24th, 2017.
The Mars/Jupiter conjunction in your sign will encourage you to act, and it may be impossible to resist. Here is a winning combination of luck, optimism, opportunity and initiative. If you want something, this is your chance to pursue it. This high-energy aspect will support your writing/speaking, so this is also about walking your talk. If you have a bright idea or plan, now’s the time to do something with it.
Sagittarius
The Full Moon in your sector of shared resources suggests results involving intimacy, debts, taxes, loans or your partner’s finances. Too, there could be a psychological breakthrough as deep issues/fears are illuminated. This may feel overwhelming and bigger than you, as what’s hidden/unacknowledged bubbles up and drives events. The past will leak into the present. Earned money and self-esteem will also be in the spotlight, and this could be a chance to come to terms with buried issues of neediness or insecurity. In some cases, there could be a financial bonus or gift.
Uranus direct in your sector of self-expression will urge you to cut the last ties that have been preventing you from really stepping out. Freedom, creativity and attraction can all shift into overdrive. Issues with children/pregnancy or a new romance may have a few more surprises to offer. Mars square the Nodes will be connected, with background or unconscious actions in the driver’s seat. There’s a chance to move forward or expand your reach, but you’ll have to tune into your true motivations. This could refer back to events of December 24th, 2017.
Mars/Jupiter can present a lucky break or shot of intuition that’s bang on. If it feels right, go for it, even if it doesn’t make much sense. For some, Mars/Jupiter can present a lucky break or unforeseen helping hand. In other cases, hidden actions may expand behind the scenes and end up dominating everything. Either way, finances and self-esteem will be supported, so this should be good for you. However, use caution if you have the sudden urge to make a big purchase, or an extravagant gesture – your true motivations may not be totally clear. If you can afford it, great. But if you can’t, the expense may be bigger than anticipated.
Capricorn
The Full Moon in your partnership sector can trigger a relationship turning point. A step forward, ending or new chapter will be focused on what the other person needs (and perhaps fuelled by the actions of friends or public reactions). However, the Sun, Black Moon Lilith and Venus in your sign are a reminder that you’re a crucial part of the equation. And, you may actually have the final say. There may be some tension as you attempt to integrate a traditional role with a less accepted/more rebellious side of yourself. In some cases, there may be projected needs and mother issues, with one partner playing the parent. Stay true to yourself and be aware of a tendency to act out roles from the past.
Uranus direct in your domestic sector can amplify changes at home/with family, or bring you closer to a conclusion in these areas. As you pull away from the past and set new traditions in motion, Mars square the Nodes will be connected. Public actions or the reactions of others will have to be balanced against your efforts to remain independent versus the need to share with someone else, or achieve a deeper level of trust. This could refer back to events of December 24th, 2017.
Mars/Jupiter can be a deciding factor in the above, as you’re urged to jump into something new, expand your social contacts or make a bold public statement. Issues with friends/groups can accelerate, and should be positive for the most part – you’ll feel encouraged and supported by others, and any risks should be worth taking. Excellent for publicity, meeting new people and exploring. However, Mars/Jupiter can inflame all existing potentials (positive and negative), so if you have doubts about someone, or about a certain activity, listen to your gut and play it safe.
Aquarius
The Full Moon in your sector of routine hi-lights work and/or health issues. A result in these areas will involve background dynamics around what’s accepted versus what challenges the rules. Watch for hidden agendas or unspoken gender dynamics. Your efforts at work can net positive results and your future ambitions should line up nicely with current actions. Note that feelings and needs (the need for satisfying work, the need to feel safe) will be more noticeable than logic and routine, although the rules (what you should do) will still be important players.
Uranus direct in your communication sector can urge you to speak out once again, or pursue a new/unusual line of reasoning. If you’ve pulled back on this lately, Uranus direct will push you to move forward. Issues with siblings can also feature sudden changes/revelations. All this may be connected to Mars square the Nodes (including the South Node in your sign) – watch for a choice about professional goals, actions or attempts to exercise authority. It may be time to decide between looking out for yourself versus balancing your efforts with someone else’s preferences. This could refer back to events of December 24th, 2017.
Mars/Jupiter brings the above to a culmination, with an exciting opportunity involving a new job, new career path or chance to impress someone in management. This aspect can fire your ambition and confidence in the future, while urging you to step up and take control of where you’re going. If you’ve been feeling lost, depressed or uncertain about what lies ahead, this energy can reinvigorate your desire to take the reins.
Pisces
The Full Moon in your sector of self-expression can bring issues around a new attraction, children/pregnancy or creative work to a peak. This will be an intensely emotional moment involving your need to be loved, appreciated or accepted for who you are. The trine to Neptune in your sign is encouraging for manifesting a dream, ideal or confirming that you’re on the right track. However, there may be some tension with judgments from others, or public exposure that’s more intense than you bargained for.
Uranus direct in your sector of personal resources can trigger more changes to earned money, values or what your self-esteem/security is based on. If you’ve been pushing for changes in these areas and they’ve been delayed, Uranus direct can trigger an acceleration. If you’ve been avoiding necessary overhauls, you may find that invalid sources of security are shaken, forcing you to embrace something new. Mars square the Nodes will add more fuel, with actions involving travel, education, legal matters or publishing – it’s time to decide if you’re going to make it real or continue to ponder what might be. This will be reality check of sorts, as you’re compelled to bring big ideals/wishes down to earth and integrate them into your life. This could refer back to events of December 24th, 2017.
However, the above reality check can actually bring you more, as Mars/Jupiter urge you to go big, step into the unknown or activate your beliefs/ideals. This isn’t about settling for less, it’s about fighting for what you believe in, or moving towards a dream. Watch for encouragement from others or a boost to your public image.
