Ghislaine Maxwell’s Saturn Returns

When you venture into the dark woods of fairy tale, be careful of the creatures you meet — they might not be what they seem. The wolf may speak like a gentleman, the witch may live in a house of gingerbread. Hansel and Gretel’s witch lured them with sugarplums and cake; then she imprisoned them to fatten them up so she could eat them. Many fairy tales carry warnings about the dangers of the world — sometimes outside the family home and sometimes within its walls. There are ogres and trolls out there, giants and monsters, wicked step-mothers and jealous […]

August 24th, 2019: Venus Conjunct Mars in Virgo

Pieter Pietersz the Elder

Pieter Pietersz the Elder

  • Venus in Virgo conjunct Mars (4 deg)

  • Venus in Virgo square Ceres in Sagittarius (4 deg)

Venus/Mars is the perfect union of attraction and action. Carefully measured efforts, attention to detail and the motivation to improve can bring exactly (Virgo) what you’re working for. “Working” is the key word – Virgo never takes it easy. Too, this can be about showing (Mars) your love (Venus) by helping/serving/organizing.

But the square to Ceres suggests a conflict between the above and the expansive nurturing of something big or idealistic. The drive for freedom or wisdom will be challenged by the focus on specifics. Efforts to make it better or express love/affection may be fussy or overzealous when compared to more liberated examples of growth.

Consider if your efforts are attracting what you want and how this stacks up against a nurturing ideal.

Sally and I met at Kew Gardens in west London as an homage to earthy Virgo. It was indeed a day of sunshine and flowers. Kew Gardens is one of the world’s foremost collections of specimen plants and seeds from around the globe. It’s also an extraordinarily beautiful and magical public park stretched alongside the Thames as it narrows towards Richmond. Kew also has some of the world’s largest glasshouses crammed with plants from around the globe. Two are spectacular Victorian constructions of iron and glass with high walkways so you can see the tops of the trees. So you […]

Virgo Season: The Best

The Sun enters Virgo on Aug 23rd at 6:01 AM EDT. The focus is on improvement, details and service. This is the season where you’re compelled to look at what’s wrong/missing and how that could be improved. But it’s also easy to remain stuck on what’s broken and ignore how it might be upgraded.

Virgo is the sign of service. This means (ideally) helping others without allowing yourself to become a slave/servant. Or, accepting help because you realize that someone has a more effective solution. “Service” is a difficult issue for many- some see it as a shameful thing and they look down on those who serve them (cashiers, waiters/waitresses, etc.) How you treat those who serve you says everything about the type of person you are. Others try to force their help on those who cannot be helped. It’s important to know when someone doesn’t want your assistance.

At its best, Virgo elevates mundane tasks – pride is taken in the precision of the work. The work becomes a thing of beauty that cuts through time and space like a laser, delivering exactly what’s needed at the perfect time. Details are elevated to something transcendent and the complexity of the thing that’s been built takes your breath away. Virgo specifics are the path to elevation and transcendence – God really is in the details. What you overlook can tear you down. What you focus on can raise you up.

Virgo is also about purity – focusing on the one issue and the best use of energy. Focusing on what’s healthiest. Virgo is self-contained, which applies to the concept of virginity. Sexual energy is not repressed. Instead, it’s reserved. Consider the difference. Do you waste your energy on those who don’t appreciate you? Or do you reserve yourself for those who understand your value?

Be selective and see what happens.
