Planetary news this week, January 7, 2019

This week, while we are coming off the influence of the solar eclipse at the Capricorn New Moon, Uranus is at a standstill in the sky as it prepares to change direction.  In its role as the instigator of radical change and transmission of information from the higher mind, Uranus helps to expand our consciousness as […]

The Art of Wandering | Astrology Horoscope

Happy new year, I hope that you and yours were able to experience a most peaceful holiday season. As for me, I took the time I needed to make peace with 2018. To help us get back to what matters again, Venus will change signs, exiting from secretive Scorpio on Monday January 6, to adventure […]

Highlights for Jan. 6-13, 2019

I have this theory that everything and everyone has someone who is designed to love them. There are folks who love cars, quilts, cats, guitars, Fiesta ware, old vinyl albums, flamingos, mushrooms, and circus posters. I watched a great documentary about a typewriter shop in Berkeley, and marveled at the loving artisans who so love typewriters that when a parts manufacturer went out of business, they began fashioning replacements by hand…

Venus’ Transit of Sagittarius: Wanting More

Venus enters Sagittarius on January 7th, expanding possibilities for relationships, money, self-esteem and values. Exploration and optimism colour Venus-themed issues – freedom becomes important and what’s up ahead is attractive (the journey can be more appealing than the destination).

This is a transit that attracts more – you want more and you can get more. There’s a sense of adventure – who knows what might happen and isn’t that the point? This is the time to keep your eyes open and consider what might usually be “impossible”. Take a second look at the romantic prospect who’s not your type, or the source of income that’s unusual/exotic, or the situation that’s a bit outside your comfort zone but still appealing.

Of course, risk must be balanced with reward, but Venus in Sag can teach you about what you thought you wanted, or what you thought your talents/self-worth consisted of. The key is growth- saying “yes” to something bigger and better. Doing more with what you have or reaching beyond what you’ve always wanted and discovering something new that’s appealing.

Don’t limit yourself with what used to matter or what you’ve always attracted. This is the transit that encourages you to consider what lies in unexplored territory.

Here are the aspects Venus in Sag will make:

  • Jan 18th: trine Mars in Aries (11 deg)

  • Jan 20th: square Neptune in Pisces (14 deg)

  • Jan 22nd: conjunct Jupiter (16 deg)

  • Jan 25th: sextile Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (19 deg)

  • Jan 31st: inconjunct the Cancer North Node (26 deg)

  • Jan 31st: inconjunct Juno in Taurus (26 deg)

  • Feb 2nd: trine Uranus in Aries (28 deg)

  • Feb 2nd: sextile Pallas in Libra (28 deg)

  • Feb 3rd: square Chiron in Pisces (29 deg)

  • Feb 3rd: Capricorn ingress

The Magic Window

Commuters on a Train — Cyril Power[/caption] I grew up in a country where it was unusual, on public transport, to see people reading anything other than a smudged newspaper. I moved to London, where inside the bright-lit tube trains, a colourful collage of hundreds of paper covers made a journey gayer and more interesting. Tired people would bury their minds between the paper covers of novels and magazines. Who was reading Harry Potter? Or Tolstoi? Or The New Scientist? Today, when you ride a train or a bus or a plane, everyone escapes through the magic windows of their […]
