Full Moon in Libra and the Spring Equinox

The March 20th Full Moon (0 deg Libra) occurs at 9:42 pm EDT, a few hours after the Sun’s Aries ingress (and Spring Equinox) on the same day.

This makes this Full Moon a powerful turning point – watch for a shift in balance (Libra) in some area of your life. If you have an accurate birth time, the house this Moon occupies will be the area where this happens.

Gathering momentum from the Spring Equinox, which is a time of resurrection and new potential, the culmination of this Full Moon will mark an abrupt change ( and rebirth) in dynamics, especially since the Moon makes a jagged inconjunct to Uranus at 0 deg Taurus. Any aspect to Uranus means change must happen now, but the adjustment demanded by the inconjunct means you must balance an overhaul of resources/security/values (in the Taurus area of your chart) with results in the Libra area of your chart. Taurus and Libra are both ruled by Venus, but they express her contrasting energies – subjective survival (Taurus) versus objective relating to others (Libra). So there may be an abrupt shift involving you versus them or your values versus your relationships.

And, we see the Aries Sun conjoining Chiron, so this culmination will also involve something painful, awkward or vulnerable. A “weakness” may be exposed as an imbalance occurs. Since the Equinox is about equal hours of daylight and darkness, there will be a corresponding struggle to achieve a new balance.

Mars (ruler of Aries) in Taurus makes a trine to Pluto in Capricorn on March 20th, giving you something to power through any difficulties. Mars/Pluto aligns external actions with hidden power, and in a harmonious trine we have a smooth flow of transformation and passion through determined actions. Keep trying, keep moving ahead, and make it happen. Tap into the change that’s happening.

Venus (ruler of Libra) in Aquarius is applying to a square with Mars, exact on March 21st. Here’s more information on the relationship tension that will probably come up – actions will be at odds with what (or who) you want. Being controlling or possessive (as you try to limit someone’s freedom) will not get you what you want. Keep this in mind as you work with the Mars/Pluto energy – you can’t control other people This may be part of the painful (Chiron) issue that’s exposed.

When the rulers of an opposition (Aries/Libra) form a square, the turning point will be driven by crisis. There will probably be tense or unpleasant moments associated with this Moon, but they will be the fuel that catapults you into a new season. Resurrection/birth is not a painless process, but once you push forward the light increases.

Astrology of Now: The Brexit Collywobbles

Yet again, the Prime Minister, was defeated in the Commons. Members of Parliament voted down her withdrawal agreement with the EU for the second time by a massive majority last night. On March 29, Britain is due to leave the European Union. Meanwhile, both parties still seem to believe that Brexit is about party politics — not healing the soul of this country. The country’s soul is, of course, a sad, confused thing right now, like some poor dog gnawing at its own leg, wondering why its masters could be so cruel. So it’s interesting during this run-up to the […]

March 13th, 2019: Exaggerated Potential

  • Sun in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn (22 deg)

  • Sun in Pisces square Jupiter in Sagittarius (23 deg)

The Sun can bring life to an important potential, but you’ll have to keep an eye on perspective.

Pluto adds intensity to the Pisces Sun’s dream. The vision, vague possibility or belief is given substance as deeper reservoirs of passion and power are accessed. Pluto in Capricorn redefines the rules through intense transformation, or the focus of power. This is what will bring depth to the vision and passion to the belief.

Jupiter will pump things up with excitement and limitless potential as it expands Pisces’ already fluid boundaries. Now we have the BIG dream or EUPHORIC belief. You have Pluto intensity and Jupiter amplification, but a hard aspect to Jupiter always triggers exaggeration. Even if the core is sound, realistic perspective will be lost.

Don’t turn away from this – there’s definitely something to work with. But keep reminding yourself that perspective is everything. This can be very good but it won’t be as magical or limitless as it seems right now. If you can, dial it back a sniff – it will be easy to expect too much.

This influence will continue to develop through March 16th as Mercury Rx in Pisces hits the same degrees.

March 12th, 2019: Juno in Gemini Opposite Ceres

  • Juno in Gemini opposite Ceres in Sagittarius (12 deg)

This aspects suggests disagreements over nurturing (children, food or growth/exploration issues). The agreement itself is not fixed, since Gemini is about multiple choices. So this gives you wiggle room – if one thing doesn’t work, try another.

However, the details (Gemini) of the agreement may be challenged by the actual method of nurturing which involves glossing over the details. One party may insist on a specific method/detail while the other party only wants to deal with the philosophy of nurturing or the ideal of care. Looking at archetypes, the wife (Juno) is at odds with the mother (Ceres).

Still, Gemini and Sag are both communicative, mutable signs. Keep talking and you should arrive at a workable agreement.
