The astrology of Greta Thunberg

http://gty.im/1144596769 I am often asked to profile good people for a change, instead of the mass murderers and psychologically unbalanced individuals that fascinate me.  So I picked Greta Thunberg, the young Swedish woman who at age 15 has become an internationally known climate activist.  Greta has been diagnosed with Asperger’s and, curiously in light […]

The Summer Solstice and Neptune Rx

Boris Kustodiev

Boris Kustodiev

Another Summer Solstice arrives, as the Sun enters Cancer on June 21st at 11:54 am EDT.

This is the longest day – the celebration of life and nurturing. For some, it’s a celebration of family (Cancer is the sign of mother/child and the childhood environment). For others, a reminder of family issues that they are still dealing with. Family is not a place of comfort for many, so I prefer to envision this as the moment when you celebrate your power to make your own family and your own safe space.

Neptune also stations Rx today (18 deg Pisces) which adds a subtle influence to this Summer Solstice. Neptune Rx can intensify dissolution, illusion or confusion. The purpose is to eventually reveal a truth, but with Neptune it’s never a direct process. This suggests that the light of this longest day may illuminate some family issues that need to be clarified, released and forgiven.

And, we have two eclipses (see the list below for dates and degrees). These are amplified turning points, again related to home, family and childhood. Along with the Sun’s passage over the North Node (future) and opposition to Saturn and Pluto, it indicates that this Cancer season will very much be about confronting family traditions and making new ones for yourself.

Ultimately, you’re looking for new ways to make yourself feel safe and nurtured, and/or to nurture others. Perhaps you’re creating your own family or declaring your separation from your existing family.

What will you be celebrating on the longest day?

Here are the aspects the Sun in Cancer will make:

  • Jun 23rd: inconjunct Ceres Rx in Sagittarius (2 deg)

  • Jun 27th: sextile Uranus in Taurus (5 deg)

  • Jun 27th: square Chiron in Aries (5 deg)

  • Jun 27th: trine Black Moon Lilith in Pisces (6 deg)

  • Jun 30th: sextile Vesta in Taurus (8 deg)

  • Jul 2nd: New Moon eclipse (10 deg)

  • Jul 7th: square Pallas in Libra (14 deg)

  • Jul 8th: inconjunct Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius (16 deg)

  • Jul 9th: opposite Saturn Rx in Capricorn (17 deg)

  • Jul 9th: conjunct the North Node (17 deg)

  • Jul 11th: trine Neptune Rx in Pisces (18 deg)

  • Jul 14th: opposite Pluto Rx in Capricorn (21 deg)

  • Jul 16th: Full Moon eclipse in Capricorn (24 deg)

  • Jul 21st: conjunct Mercury Rx (28 deg)

  • Jul 22nd: Leo ingress

The astrological Hero’s Journey

A friend posted this article on Facebook, and since I use the archetype of the Hero’s Journey in my client consultations I found it quite interesting. The great spiritual teachers, culture bringers, warriors, and saints: these are examples of Heroes who obey a Call to Adventure to descend into the depths of the time and […]

Juno’s Transit of Leo

  • Transiting Juno enters Leo

Partnership agreements are expressed through the sign of pride, recognition, creativity and joy. This transit urges you to look at all your contracts and agreements (romantic and otherwise) to see if they make you proud.

Questions to ask yourself during this transit:

  • Do you feel free to express your true self in your relationship?

  • Does your partner encourage your talents or sense of playfulness?

  • Are you proud to tell others “This is my partner”?

As the “marriage asteroid” Juno is associated with fidelity, especially in the face of challenges (Juno remained faithful to Jupiter no matter how many mortals he fooled around with). But Leo is sometimes associated with affairs – despite its fixed nature, its childlike qualities and craving for constant attention and risk (this is also the sign of gambling) means certain partnerships may be confronted with challenges to fidelity. This is more likely to happen if one or both partners are bored, immature or unappreciated.

In general, this transit encourages the exploration of playfulness and pride in relationships. New agreements that manifest may be about who gets the spotlight.

Juno exits Leo for Virgo on August 23rd.
