Capricorn Full Moon: Midyear Resolutions

The Capricorn New Moon falls near the beginning of each calendar year and signals a fresh commitment to becoming your best, most successful self. At midyear, the Capricorn Full Moon is its mirror image, the response to its call. It’s time to face the optimistic pages of those calendars and planners and compare them with your progress to date. There is still time to change your strategy—or even your resolutions.

Mars Retrograde in Aquarius

Mars Rx today (June 26th 5:04 PM EDT) at 9 deg Aquarius. This retrograde will cover 9 deg Aquarius to 28 deg Capricorn.

Here’s an excerpt from an earlier post:

“Mars Rx in Aquarius intensifies specific actions so the move towards independence can happen (sometimes it takes extra effort to break away from the past). Or, Mars Rx can delay actions/progress if the impulse is poorly timed. Delays or intensification will depend on how Mars aspects your chart. Mars Rx means progress is put on hold, either way. You have to wait or redo. Progress happens when Mars stations direct.

In general, Mars in Aquarius is tense, rebellious and stubborn (Aquarius is a Fixed sign). Compromise is non-existent – it must happen, and it must happen your way or their way, no matter what. Great for innovation and (barring the Mars/Uranus square) liberation that requires patience.

Yes, Aquarius can be patient (or fixated) if there’s a goal. Mars in Aquarius (especially Mars Rx) suggests breaking free of all limits no matter how long it takes and no matter what’s at stake. Impulse with staying power, or fanaticism. While Aquarius is known to be a logical sign, when it gets riled up logic flies out the window. For example, if a limit is encountered, Mars in Aquarius will push and keep pushing, just because someone says “No.”

Mars Rx will briefly reenter Capricorn, which suggests revisiting rules/traditions/structures to remind yourself what the previous focus was. This can help you regroup (especially helpful if you’ve lost track of a goal) and it’s interesting that Mars direct occurs in this sign- you have to return to old rules/traditions so you can move on from them. 29 to 28 degrees of the Cardinal signs will feel this part of the retrograde.”

Mars rules sex, actions, anger, violence and impulse. When it is Rx, these issues will slow down and/or heat up. Either way, you can’t force forward movement when Mars is Rx. So you might as well work with the current state of things.

If Mars in Aquarius wants to break free and be independent, Mars Rx in Aquarius has to reconsider or focus the struggle. During this Rx, consider what you’re trying to liberate yourself from or where you’re attempting to declare your independence. And know that eventually Mars will station direct (August 27th).

    Mars Dreaming

Mars turns retrograde today at 9° Aquarius. The planet of war will douse his firebrands for a while and may turn his passions inwards. Today, he is tightly conjoining that mysterious South Node of the Moon — a place of dissolution and dissipation. It’s time to lay down our arms and let go of anger, rivalry and aggression. Mars will be retrograde until August 27.

Capricorn Full Moon: Dancing With Pele

Every few days or so I’ll receive a concerned email, asking: Are you okay? The Kilauea volcano is erupting, as it has continuously for decades, the last eruption was in 2014, lasting several months. The islands were formed by volcanic eruptions, so volcanoes erupting is part of life here. One resident sums up the destruction […]

Planetary News this week: Retrogrades and a Capricorn Full Moon

(Note for newbies:  “retrograde” means that as we observe it from earth, a planet appears to be moving backwards in the sky.  Planets obviously don’t cycle backwards, but from our perspective they do appear to and we call that “retrograde.”  When a planet is retrograde its astrological influence is more personal, it often turns our […]
