April 17th, 2019: Waxing Inconjunct

  • Waxing Inconjunct between the Virgo Moon and Aries Sun (26 deg)

Here’s the frustrating pause and adjustment (the Waxing Inconjunct) that occurs before every Full Moon. In this case, before the April 19th Libra Full Moon we have a disconnect between details versus the urge to keep pushing forward. Momentum will slow but it cannot stop. But at the same time, you have to pay attention to the small flaws that demand a fix.

This will be frustrating because you’ll be torn between aggressively moving ahead versus being precise and a little humble. The challenge of the inconjunct is to honour both sides.

Notre Dame: She Will Rise Again

Notre Dame, the great church of Our Lady in the heart of Paris, at the sharp end of the Ile de la Cité, burned spectacularly last night. One of her spires pointed a flaming finger at the sky. She crackled, she roared. But today she’s still standing. The images were shocking, of course. Yet my take-away from this event was not doomy or gloomy, but a feeling of hope. The great cathedral, a wondrous monument to human endeavour, faith and imagination, built by teams of people over centuries, had survived a potentially devastating fire — thanks to teams of our […]

Mercury’s Transit of Aries: Prickly Words

Mercury enters Aries on April 17th, 2:00 am EDT. Communication and information becomes prickly and raw – the message is delivered without finesse but with pure honesty. In some cases, painful honesty (especially when Mercury conjoins Chiron).

This can be an aggressive transit for those who like things nice and polite. Mercury in Aries doesn’t have time to be polite – information is quick and bold. Excellent if you have something to say but have trouble standing up for yourself. Also good for breaking through writer’s block and connecting with new ideas/plans/diagnoses.

Note that Aries is ruled by Mars and Mars is currently in Mercury-ruled Gemini, creating mutual reception – a connection between transiting Mercury and transiting Mars. This will peak on May 1st when they sextile each other and will also involve Mercury’s square to Saturn and the Nodes . May 1st should be an interesting day (choices, choices, choices but really only one valid choice).

The alignment between words and actions will be crucial – what choice most accurately reflects what you’re doing and saying? Can you follow up your ideas with action? And most importantly – think about what you’re doing.

Here are the aspects Mercury in Aries will make:

  • Apr 19th: conjunct Chiron (3 deg)

  • Apr 24th: conjunct Vesta (9 deg)

  • April 26th: trine Ceres Rx in Sagittarius (13 deg)

  • Apr 27th: opposite Pallas Rx in Libra (14 deg)

  • May 1st: sextile Mars in Gemini (20 deg)

  • May 1st: square the Nodes in Capricorn/Cancer (20 deg)

  • May 1st: square Saturn Rx in Capricorn (20 deg)

  • May 2nd: square Pluto Rx in Capricorn (23 deg)

  • May 2nd: trine Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius (23 deg)

  • May 6th: Taurus ingress
