Sexy Talk on the Passionfruit Podcast
Last week, the brilliant, funny women at Passionfruit Podcast interviewed me. It was a hoot but if you don’t want to hear an explicit discussion of sex, skip this one. On the other hand, if you’re unlikely to be fazed by women talking dirty, have a listen. I, of course, offered astrological wisdom during the podcast, rather than sex counselling. Always eager to bring some real astrology to a new audience! It did occur to me though, since I also happen to be reading André Aciman’s Enigma Variations, that there’s a lot of sex-verbiage in my world at the moment. […]

The Taurus New Moon: Settling into the peace space
The New Moon on May 4th is in the sign of Taurus. The symbol for Taurus is the bull – wise, placid but powerful, stable, slow to anger, the bull is a majestic symbol of peacefulness in the heart of strength. Like the bull, under the influence of Taurus we seek experiences which will help […]

May 4th, 2019: Security Versus Freedom

Taurus Moon inconjunct Ceres Rx in Sagittarius (12 deg)
Taurus Moon inconjunct Pallas Rx in Libra (13 deg)
The Taurus Moon forms a Yod to Ceres and Pallas. The Moon makes an inconjunct (aspect of incompatibility) to Ceres: a disconnect between expansive (Sagittarius) nurturing (Ceres) and fixed habits (Taurus). The Moon also makes an inconjunct to Pallas: a disconnect between the same fixed habits and social (Libra ) strategies (Pallas).
Pallas and Ceres Rx are connected with a supportive sextile, so light, balanced strategies and the nurturing of new areas connect in an easy way. Both are retrograde, so you’re revisiting this issue and perhaps discovering new directions to take a relationship.
But the barrier is fixed habits; you may get tripped up by fears of moving forward or hesitation to compromise. The focal point (the Taurus Moon) is also where the energy of the Yod must be directed – the growth of relationship strategies must be focused in a way that adds to your security.
The Yod is the most frustrating configuration, because the challenge (the Taurus Moon)is also the focus and goal.
It’s a tricky mix, and you may swing back and forth between freedom versus security. Freedom is security in this case, if new relationship areas and compromise are integrated into existing routines. What are you trying to solidify but not stagnate?
This is taking place in the dark time just before tonight’s Taurus New Moon (6:45 pm EDT), suggesting an emerging issue that’s difficult to see clearly. When the New Moon hits, things should become clearer, but don’t ignore the challenging dynamics beforehand. How you handle this Yod will add to your New Moon potentials.

New Moon in Taurus

The May 4th New Moon in Taurus (14 deg) makes a wide trine to the Capricorn South Node, Saturn Rx and Pluto Rx. Solid new beginnings will be grounded in the past. Which means it’s essential that the ongoing ending of the Saturn Rx/South Node conjunction is addressed.
This New Moon suggests the first chapter in the three-part ending (Saturn will conjoin the SN three times) but it will be an indirect connection. The responsibilities, rules or definitions that you are solidifying/leaving behind (in the Capricorn area of your chart) will form the basis for a new beginning in the Taurus area of your chart. It may involve resources, values, self-esteem or your attempt to build a secure new foundation. You have to start the wrap-process process in another area of your life in order to do this. Pluto Rx ads a touch of profound transformation, reminding you that the ending is permanent (a death).
Taurus is not a fast-mover, so this new beginning will probably not be explosive. Deep commitment to ongoing results will be a theme – what begins will be long-lasting, so you want to do it right. But, there is an applying Mars/Jupiter opposition (exact on May 5th) as Mars in Gemini is challenged by Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius. This suggests big leaps, big actions or a major culmination that features exaggerated efforts.
The Sag/Gemini axis is flexible and quick, while Taurus is slow and deliberate. The contrast hints at a fast-moving result that may fuel your slowly-emerging beginning. There’s potential to push things too far/too fast, so remember to ground yourself in what you’re trying to build (there are no shortcuts).
