Astrology of Now: This Restless Summer

…and yet the children eat figs on the beach, fight, splash. The wine tastes good. Sun sets. Everything, everything is precious. This summer is not like other summers. A magnifying glass hovers over the human world, making our invisible bonds almost visible, gossamer threads ruffling, stretching, floating like skeins a spider weaves, catching rainbows and dew. Imagine: a few years ago, we might have been on holiday from Aleppo — a day at the beach in Latakia, perhaps, with a paper bag of loukoum to nibble under an umbrella. Or maybe we were from Caracas… down at Isla Margarita for the waterskiing. Or a few […]

Leo Solar Eclipse: Lights Out

As we draw closer to the quiet holiness of the eclipse moment, something sweet, serious, and profoundly heartfelt is trying to emerge. Make room for it. Light a candle, and offer a little prayer. Shut out the chaos for awhile, and tune into your own frequency. All is well in your own kingdom. Decide what you will create there…

Why Charlottesville?

Angry faces reddened by torchlight, mouths agape spewing hatred. The sight of those men — and they were almost all men — scarring the beautiful campus of the University of Virginia was stomach churning, horrible, familiar — even on the small screen of this laptop, You’ve seen that same anger in other groups of men, waving banners, chanting. Maybe the images were in fuzzy black and white, maybe in sharp focus on your TV screen, maybe the language was one you couldn’t understand. The intention and the energy are the same. We know these people: they are haters. “Purification” is their motivation. Violence […]

New Moon Eclipse in Leo

José Malhoa

José Malhoa

The August 21st New Moon (solar) eclipse occurs at 28 degrees Leo. This blazing new beginning will be powered up by its alignment with the Leo North Node, and its trine to Uranus Rx (ruler of the Aquarius South Node).

The August 6th’s Full Moon eclipse in Aquarius may have brought something from the past (South Node) to a culmination, and the New Moon eclipse will continue that trend. Now, the focus is on moving ahead with the North Node agenda- power that’s based on what you create, what you’re proud of and what makes you confident. Uranus Rx keeps the connection with the South Node flowing. What began on the fringe (Aquarius) or what made you feel weird/alienated/ostracized can be brought to the centre. It’s time to put yourself/your talent/your cause in the spotlight. This is you, and you’re forging ahead while cutting the last few ties with a restrictive or unaccepting past.

This eclipse is hooked into Mercury retrograde. Mars in Leo will re-activate 28 degrees on September 2nd and will conjoin Mercury Rx on September 3rd. Mercury will station direct at 28 degrees Leo on September 5th. August 21st’s new beginnings may not achieve full momentum until September 5th, when the final decision is made, or all the information is in front of you. Mars will add an insistent shove (an argument?) or added courage to say what you really need to say.

Also on August 21st, we have an exact opposition between Ceres in Cancer and Pluto Rx in Capricorn. As I noted here, the Ceres/Pluto myth will be prominent. An opposition is a culmination or ending – a metaphorical death which will be followed by the bright new birth of the eclipse. Ceres/Pluto can finalize an issue of nurturing/dependency, or confront you with mother issues. Too, there could be projections – does the nurturer have the power, or are they giving it away? Hard aspects to Pluto always bring up the Shadow, so care and compassion will not be straightforward.

It’s encouraging that the eclipse is such a powerful prompt to move ahead. Cancer/Ceres is infant/mother while Leo is the next step beyond that- learning to celebrate the pure joy of play and unselfconscious expression. You’re not helpless any longer, because you have the power to create your own destiny.

What Astrologers Are Saying About The Great American Eclipse

The Great American Eclipse which sweeps from sea to shining sea on August 21 has the astrological world in a frenzy — and no wonder: it’s a great big Total Eclipse of the Sun, the first to go across the American landmass so thoroughly in about a century. And the eclipse is opposite the US natal Moon at 27° Aquarius. And it’s right on President Donald Trump’s Ascendant. It truly is making a big statement about the US of A. It is not misnamed. This eclipse is not unlike a previous Total Eclipse in Leo in 1999. This was the year that […]

Astrology of Now: The Whole of the Moon

Maybe you were that person. Maybe you are that person. The Moon in Aquarius will be slightly eclipsed today at 20.35 BST. You’ll be able to see this if you are in Europe. It’s like a […]

Stop Using Astrology to Scare Yourself Silly

We’re in the eclipse zone, that concentrated period of time surrounding two eclipses, and a time when some people who know just enough astrology to be dangerous, grow really afraid.  As you read the myriad web resources available about this very special time, or any astrological event, pattern or aspect, let’s remember several things: 1) […]

Aquarius Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse: Radio Silence

This Full Moon–a lunar eclipse in Aquarius–is designed to give a full and truthful accounting of how well we’re navigating Aquarius’ territory. The Full Moon never lies. It’s that interval in the lunar cycle when not even the night time is dark enough to hide our hurts, fears, and flaws. Are you a happy Aquarian camper? Are you spending time with people who engage your finest qualities, or do you disappear in a group, unappreciated and overlooked?…

First, here are a few astro-notes concerning the natal planets of White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus which were posted to SO’W prior to RNC 2016 and its Capricorn Full Moon conjunct US natal Pluto if you care to take a peek.
