December 29th, 2018: Painful Issues

  • Third Quarter Square between the Libra Moon and Capricorn Sun (7 deg)

  • Mars conjunct Chiron in Pisces (28 deg)

A touchy day, as the Third Quarter Square raises questions about existing rules and traditions. Imbalances between you and another or in a home versus work situation will trigger tension between what’s established/proper versus what feels acceptable. Perhaps you’re trying to keep up the facade but on the inside you feel undervalued. Perhaps the friction between being nice versus being successful has brought you to a crisis point. How are your boundaries? It may be time to reconsider who you give access to. Do you feel respected?

Mars/Chiron will add to the tension by triggering a wound. Mars is the activator, so there’s no getting around this – it’s going to be uncomfortable. But a conjunction is also a new beginning, and Mars is Pisces is about actions that trigger release. So this is where you confront the wound and move past it. The issue may not be nicely wrapped up (Chiron’s wounds never vanish) but nonetheless, Mars says that you must keep on keeping on. Acknowledge what hurts, forgive, exhale and step forward.

This conjunction occuring on the same day as the Third Quarter Square means issues of boundaries and imbalances will be painful, but the questions this lunar phase raises must be acknowledged. Now is not the time to avoid or gloss over the awkward stuff.

December 19th, 2018: Sagittarius Sun Square Chiron

  • Sun in Sagittarius square Chiron in Pisces (27 deg)

The drive for expansion, truths, hope and exploration may be undercut today, as a painful square to Chiron reminds you of where you’re vulnerable. Fear of the unknown could be an issue, or perhaps the mere thought of being optimistic raises fears. What if you’re disappointed?

As always with Chiron, the best approach is to acknowledge what hurts. Before you can make any progress, it’s essential that you deal with this, and it’s not a new issue. Chiron was previously at this degree of Pisces around March 2018 and there was an applying square from Mars in Sag (exact on March 14th at 18 deg). Back then, actions (a leap of faith?) triggered doubts. Or perhaps you stumbled as you ventured into new territory. The bruise you received has not fully healed, and it’s an opportunity to learn more about where you place your faith and how you handle new experiences.

If the pain makes you question what you believe in, those are worthwhile questions – beliefs and future expansion must be able to stand up to crises. If they can’t, then it’s time to adjust your compass.

In general, travel, education, legal matters, publishing, exploration or ideals can be trouble areas today. Slow down and watch for a repeat of issues from March.

December 9th, 2018: Chiron Direct Trine Mercury

  • Chiron stations direct (27 deg Pisces)

  • Mercury in Scorpio trine Chiron in Pisces (27 deg)

Chiron direct signals progress with a wound or vulnerability. Chiron stationed Rx in Aries on July 5th and backed into Pisces on September 25th, so since these dates you have been dealing with old hurts. Perhaps issues you didn’t want to confront.

Chiron direct means the trip down memory lane is over and you can progress. But in order to do that you must acknowledge the wound before you can release it. Here to help is a trine from Mercury in Scorpio – deep honesty, a look at secrets/shadow issues or perhaps an intimate conversation. This is your guide through the pain, and the trine means it should happen naturally – the words should come easily.

Mercury previously trined Chiron on December 4th (when Mercury was Rx) so this topic is not new. And this is all part of the Grand Water Trine (including the Cancer North Node) that’s been active since December 2nd. Communication and information (Mercury) are the keys that will unlock the flow.

Maybe this is the time you apologize, say goodbye, acknowledge a release, forgive yourself or get honest about a weakness. Mercury in Scorpio speaks the deepest truths.

December 2nd 2018: Myriad Energies

  • Waning Sextile between the Libra Moon and Sagittarius Sun (10 deg)

  • Sun in Sagittarius square Mars in Pisces (10 deg)

  • Mercury Rx in Scorpio inconjunct Uranus Rx in Aries (29 deg)

  • Venus enters Scorpio

  • Chiron Rx in Pisces trines the Cancer North Node (27 deg)

A rather full day today with myriad, shifting energies that promise some tension, some harmony and some healing.

Waning Sextile

The Waning Sextile gives you an opportunity to move into new territory (travel, education or the embrace of a new belief-Sagittarius) in a balanced, harmonious (Libra) way. This is a highly social aspect that implies support from others as you explore new possibilities.

However, note that the Sun does square Mars, so what you’re moving towards will have an edge. There may be some tension between actions and goals but the actions will not be 100% clear (Mars in Pisces can be diffused). As you step into the unknown country, use the tension to motivate you, but move with caution.

This energy will lead to December 7th’s New Moon in Sagittarius (stay tuned for a separate post on this).

Mercury, Venus and Chiron

Mercury Rx’s recent return to Scorpio is marked by a tense inconjunct with Uranus Rx. The hidden, uncomfortable or intimate information that you’re reviewing/researching will involve a jarring truth or reveal. But the disruption will have to be adjusted with deeper information that will need to remain private or unspoken. This is a tricky aspect that will be repeated on December 11th (when Mercury is direct) so you’re only on the first step.

Meanwhile, Venus re-enters Scorpio for the first time since September 9th. Venus back into Scorpio, post-retrograde, indicates that you are ready to complete the journey that began on September 9th- a complete immersion in a relationship, financial or self-esteem issue. Venus Rx pushed you to re-evaluate, but that process is over. Now you move forward with the knowledge you’ve gained (you know what you have and what you deserve).

Note that Mercury Rx is hitting the late degrees of Scorpio and Venus is activating the early degrees, so the full depth of an issue is being mined. Mercury Rx urges you to analyze and put it into words (even if those words are only in your head) while Venus asks you to move ahead with what you really want. In both cases (mind and heart) nothing will do but total honesty and an unblinking look at what lies beneath the surface (this can also refer to your recently discovered reservoirs of power).

Chiron and the North Node encourage you to deal with a wound/vulnerability. Harmony with the North Node means there should be a beneficial way through the discomfort, and it will involve acknowledging vulnerable feelings. But the process should feel natural and relatively painless. Is it time to forgive, move on or stop the sacrifice/self-flagellation? You’re not denying the wound or making it disappear, but you are finding a place (the North Node) where you can feel whole and safe.

November 7th, 2018: Flow and Obsession

  • Jupiter in Scorpio trine the North Node in Cancer (29 deg)

  • Pluto in Capricorn conjunct Vesta (19 deg)

The North Node newly arrived in Cancer gets a boost from Jupiter. A situation can expand naturally in such a way that you are guided towards the most authentic, emotional direction. It may feel good (Jupiter) to move forward and honour your needs – go for it!

This aspect is part of a Grand Water Trine which includes Jupiter’s trine to Chiron Rx in Pisces (exact on Nov 1st). Ahead lies healing, release and easy access to what feels best.

This trine accompanies today’s Scorpio New Moon which rules the North Node and trines Neptune. Watch for an area of easy flow – something should be unfolding without any effort.

Pluto/Vesta indicates extreme, perhaps obsessive, focus. There may be a rigid (Capricorn) insistence on digging to the bottom of an issue (Pluto penetrates). This can be good if you’re researching or searching for a truth. But it can also blind you to what’s around you – Vesta is devoted focus, and when combined with Pluto, that devotion goes over the top.

Pick your focus carefully, and consider that Pluto rules this New Moon – are you diving into a new obsession? Depending on the subject matter, this new beginning could be a powerful, positive new chapter that’s fuelled by your intensive commitment.

November 1st, 2018: Beyond Logic

  • Jupiter in Scorpio trine Chiron Rx in Pisces (28 deg)

  • Jupiter in Scorpio sextile Pallas in Virgo (28 deg)

  • Chiron Rx in Pisces opposite Pallas in Virgo (28 deg)

Jupiter/Chiron gives you access to deep healing of a wound/vulnerability that first came up around March/April 2018. At that time, you may not have had the resources to deal, but now you do- pay attention to what’s emerged from the depths (knowledge, secrets, optimism).

Jupiter in Scorpio has stirred up a lot of crap during its transit – you’ve felt the weight of your Shadow, issues with death or trauma. But this trine indicates that healing is available. The emergence of dark things is not without relief.

Chiron’s opposition to Pallas indicates some challenges as you attempt to apply logical strategies/solutions that don’t quite do the trick. The neat pattern won’t fit with what hurts. But Jupiter’s sextile suggests you can still get through this if you work with newly emerging secrets/wisdom. The deeper you go, the more access you’ll have to assistance as you expand upon an existing solution. Go beyond what’s logical.

October 29th, 2018: A Day To Go Deep

  • Waning Trine between the Cancer Moon and Scorpio Sun (5 deg)

  • Mercury conjunct Jupiter in Scorpio (27 deg)

  • Mercury in Scorpio trine Chiron Rx in Pisces (28 deg)

The Waning Trine allows you to share feelings and needs on a profound level, and no one will be scared off by the intensity. Comfort and familiarity blend with dark issues and secrets, so almost nothing is “too much.” Dive in and allow others to witness your feelings. Or, if you’d rather keep this private, it’s still an excellent time to submerge yourself in what was previously too heavy. The trine allows a natural progression through those feelings.

Adding even more understanding, we have Mercury/Jupiter for the perfect combo of intellect and faith, words and enthusiasm. Mercury/Jupiter is big words and discoveries – announcing what you’ve uncovered from Scorpio’s depths. A massive shot of truth, and Mercury’s trine to Chiron Rx enables this to be delivered with empathy.

Chiron Rx is also about the wound that’s being revisited, but now you have the facts (Mercury) and the bigger picture (Jupiter) for a complete perspective. Here’s your solution, assistance, or positive answer that helps you deal with the wound.

Overall, today is made for emotional discussions, sharing intimate facts or arriving at a profound realization and release.

Synastry Grid: Trump’s and America’s natal planets

This Is Us: the Trump-US Relationship

by Jude Cowell

A synastry grid comparing the natal planets of Donald Trump with America’s natal planets is replete with potentials for tension, anger, scandals, notoriety, confusion, misunderstandings, deception, and undermining by and of allies–but also an attraction, plus the possibility of Chirotic healing, or at least a soothing, of our society’s past

October 9th, 2018: Mercury in Libra Inconjunct Chiron

   Pieter Brueghel the Elder

  • Mercury in Libra inconjunct Chiron Rx in Pisces (29 deg)

Mercury’s inconjunct, before it plunges into Scorpio this evening, suggests an awkward conversation or observation. The social facade will be disrupted – attempts to gloss over Chiron’s pain, embarrassment or discomfort will miss the point. This is not something you should avoid.

Mercury in Libra does demand some social finesse; you can still be gracious. But there’s no use pretending that everything’s ok, because your attention has just been drawn to a repeat (Rx) wound.

And how fortuitous that Mercury will be entering the sign of darkness and profound honesty after this aspect. This does suggest that Chiron’s wound is only the tip of the iceberg. As you move forward you’ll see and hear much more. Use this moment to recognize what’s wrong, then be prepared to go deeper (investigate or do some intense inner work).
