February 8th, 2019: A Day of Disconnects

Gustave Moreau

  • Mercury in Aquarius inconjunct North Node in Cancer (26 deg)

  • Pallas in Libra inconjunct Juno in Taurus (29 deg)

An awkward day with a couple of inconjuncts (aspects of incompatibility). The key with this aspect is to adjust both sides so they can work together.

Mercury in Aquarius is innovative or odd ideas (of the future) and the Cancer North Node (path forward) is about developing a new area of comfort and emotional vulnerability. But the unusual information presented by Mercury will feel jarring and may distract you from the place ahead where you can feel safe.

Solution: use edgy (and detached) ideas to drive you forward but don’t ignore core feelings. Respect your needs while being honest.

Pallas/Juno highlights the disconnect between Venus-ruled Libra and Taurus. Pallas in Libra’s strategies reflect another or are focused on being polite/liked/loved. Juno in Taurus is the relationship agreement that is about stability and self-preservation at all costs. Libra is the other and Taurus is personal survival. Here we have social strategies that clash with a set relationship commitment.

Solution: remember that it takes two but don’t sacrifice core values and security.

February 7th, 2019: No Going Back

  • Sun in Aquarius sextile Jupiter in Sagittarius (18 deg)

  • Mercury in Aquarius sextile Mars in Aries (25 deg)

  • Uranus in Aries opposite Pallas in Libra (29 deg)

Sun/Jupiter delivers buoyant energy that encourages you to have faith in something unique (including yourself). It’s ok to stand out, be yourself or take a risk, and judgements should be almost non-existent. Aquarius is very open-minded and Jupiter (in positive aspect) is all about benevolence.

Mercury/Mars adds to the above with assertive but not pushy words. The harmony of the sextile adds Mars’ aggressiveness in a manageable way, encouraging outspoken information that is delivered in an acceptable manner. Combined with Sun/Jupiter, today’s influences favour exploration, the communication of fresh ideas standing up for yourself with easy confidence.

However, Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) opposite Pallas does suggest that liberating moves will trigger some imbalances. Pallas in Libra’s polite social strategies will be upended, or even abruptly abandoned. Not a deal-breaker, but consider if any relationship plans, compromises or solutions have outlived their usefulness.

Note that this opposition (a culmination) takes places at 29 degrees (the final degree). This strongly points to the end of a social issue – you may be liberated or surprised, but either way there’s no going back. If this makes you uneasy, know that Jupiter’s influence suggests that this is a good thing.

Aquarius New Moon: Picture It

Picture It… You are on a veranda overlooking the sea. White billowy curtains blow in the sea breeze, framing a gorgeous seascape. In front of you, palms sway on a white sand beach as you drink in the glimmering emerald-turquoise water with your eyes. Walking over to a divan, you feel the cool marble floor beneath […]

Happy Chinese New Year!

This is my piece for upcoming issue of Infinity Astrology Magazine.  I’m writing this from a high-rise in the centre of Hong Kong, overlooking the dancing lights of Kowloon, which reflect and refract in the waters of the straits. It’s been quite a week here because we’re in the run up to Chinese New Year.  It’s the Year of the Pig — and swine are being celebrated all over town. I’ve eaten rice buns decorated with pink ears and snout, window-shopped at Gucci and Chloe for porcine handbags, not to mention piggy jewellery, hairbands, slippers, knickers and baseball caps. Flying pigs, […]

Aquarius New Moon. This new week is powerfully influenced by a powerful New Moon on Monday February 4; encouraging quietness, stillness and reflection. Maybe you’ve already felt these lunar vibes at work through an overwhelming sense of laziness, fatigue and/or an urge for rest over the last few days. In this time of idleness, how […]

February 4th, 2019: Mercury Conjunct Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius

Henry Fuseli

Henry Fuseli

  • Mercury in Aquarius conjunct Black Moon Lilith (20 deg)

Emphasizing the disruptive message of today’s New Moon , Mercury/BML gives Lilith a voice. The energy is clear, truthful and detached – you can step back from Lilith’s anger (at being an outsider) and simply observe the eye-opening facts about this situation.

A bit of detachment can help immensely when delivering BML’s message. She can be so dark (especially when dealing with rejection or women’s victimization) that what comes out is raw and full of rage: a howl. No one hears the message because they’re too frightened or repelled. And this can include you if you’re glimpsing a part of yourself that you’d rather not see.

But under this influence there’s absolute clarity and just enough chill that her realizations/words will make a direct hit. What you learn or communicate may not be pretty, but it will be the truth and it will be liberating.

Mercury/BML says that you don’t have to follow anyone’s rules but your own. But, you also need to take an unblinking look at your darker impulses (jealousy, rage, revenge). Remember that Lilith was exiled from the Garden – she’s powerful but part of her energy comes from anger at being rejected. Today may help you come to terms with being on the outside, in some way.
