Mercury’s Transit of Taurus (And A Voice for Lilith)

Mercury enters Taurus on May 6th at 2:25 pm EDT. Information and communication is focused on what’s real and immediate. Solid, simple ideas have value – proof is essential. Values are put into words. Don’t waste your time with complicated decisions. Keep it straightforward and start with the basics – you can build from there.

Usually this transit would indicate a slower-moving flow of information that becomes fixed. But Mercury’s upcoming conjunction to Uranus ensures that will not happen. What you planned may be turned on its head.

Mercury in Taurus’ first aspect (also on May 6th) is a sextile to Black Moon Lilith in Pisces. Newly emerging, taboo issues of female power, emancipation, victimization or sexuality are gently grounded with a few words of introduction. Lilith is a given a voice that draws attention to her, and it’s quiet (at first). But sometimes you don’t need to shout to be heard. Keep in this in mind if you want to speak about something that’s normally uncomfortable or unusual. This is one or two phrases spoken calmly, with impact.

Here are the aspects Mercury in Taurus will make:

  • May 6th: sextile Black Moon Lilith in Pisces (0 deg)

  • May 8th: conjunct Uranus (3 deg)

  • May 12th: sextile Juno in Cancer (10 deg)

  • May 12th: inconjunct Ceres Rx in Sagittarius (10 deg)

  • May 12th: inconjunct Pallas Rx in Libra (11 deg)

  • May 15th: sextile Neptune in Pisces (18 deg)

  • May 16th: trine the Capricorn South Node (19 deg)

  • May 16th: trine Saturn Rx in Capricorn (20 deg)

  • May 17th: inconjunct Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius (22 deg)

  • May 18th: trine Pluto Rx in Capricorn (23 deg)

  • May 21st: Gemini ingress

Taurus New Moon: Keep It Simple

This past week has been a week of simplification. I had several clients who presented issues they’ve been struggling with for some time. Habits they needed to change, wanted to change, but the emotional elaboration on those made them nearly irrecognisable as just that: a bad habit. Really, the only “bad” thing about bad habits […]

New Moon in Taurus

John Martin

The May 4th New Moon in Taurus (14 deg) makes a wide trine to the Capricorn South Node, Saturn Rx and Pluto Rx. Solid new beginnings will be grounded in the past. Which means it’s essential that the ongoing ending of the Saturn Rx/South Node conjunction is addressed.

This New Moon suggests the first chapter in the three-part ending (Saturn will conjoin the SN three times) but it will be an indirect connection. The responsibilities, rules or definitions that you are solidifying/leaving behind (in the Capricorn area of your chart) will form the basis for a new beginning in the Taurus area of your chart. It may involve resources, values, self-esteem or your attempt to build a secure new foundation. You have to start the wrap-process process in another area of your life in order to do this. Pluto Rx ads a touch of profound transformation, reminding you that the ending is permanent (a death).

Taurus is not a fast-mover, so this new beginning will probably not be explosive. Deep commitment to ongoing results will be a theme – what begins will be long-lasting, so you want to do it right. But, there is an applying Mars/Jupiter opposition (exact on May 5th) as Mars in Gemini is challenged by Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius. This suggests big leaps, big actions or a major culmination that features exaggerated efforts.

The Sag/Gemini axis is flexible and quick, while Taurus is slow and deliberate. The contrast hints at a fast-moving result that may fuel your slowly-emerging beginning. There’s potential to push things too far/too fast, so remember to ground yourself in what you’re trying to build (there are no shortcuts).

ReBuilding Our Value

Where we’ve been investing our energy will begin to slow down considerably, or possibly come to a complete pause under the next four-and-a-half months as Taskmaster Saturn stations retrograde on Monday April 29. As insecurities, responsibilities and fears start to rise beneath the big boss Saturn, we can either renegotiate, restructure, and rebuild… or re-experience […]

  • Waning Sextile between the Pisces Moon and Taurus Sun (9 deg)

  • Saturn stations retrograde in Capricorn (20 deg)

Waning Sextile

As the Moon’s light fades and we approach a Taurus New Moon next month, the sextile gently enables a transition by dissolving old habits/routines and leaving room for something new. This part of the Moon’s phase is never demanding- there’s a gentle nudge in the right direction, but you can easily ignore it.

Consider what feels like it’s naturally fading, and let it go. Watch for new, solid opportunities on the horizon that involve a way to make dreams/hints a reality.

Saturn

Saturn Rx can mean a few things:

  • the revision of a rule

  • the return to previous limit

  • emphasis on a specific responsibility or tradition

  • a temporary loosening of restrictions

You’ll quickly know what scenario applies to you (you may know already). A revision or return means unfinished business that must be completed. If you feel like you’re being dragged back against your will, there’s a reason it’s happening- you can’t avoid it so you might as well do the work. What needs to end, permanently? What responsibilities must you accept or say “No” to? What boundaries need to be strengthened?

It’s interesting that this is happening on the same day as the Waxing Sextile, because it underlines a specific area of that transition. Saturn Rx can define what the Waxing Sextile is hinting at.

A temporary loosening can be used to prepare yourself for the pressures that will reoccur in the future. Don’t slack off.

Saturn’s Rx will cover 20 to 13 deg Capricorn, stationing direct on September 18th, 2019 at 13 deg.

  • 3rd Quarter Square between the Aquarius Moon and Taurus Sun (6 deg)

  • Mercury in Aries trine Ceres Rx in Sagittarius (13 deg)

  • Uranus in Taurus sextile Juno in Cancer (2 deg)

3rd Quarter Square

The crisis between what’s new and what’s established can push you to question what you want. Current definitions of security may be getting stale – something is urging you to step back and look at what you have in a different light. This process can feel uncomfortable, because you may not want to question what’s worked so far. But it’s time to shake things up and if you’re being honest you’ll admit that what’s in front of you feels a bit stifling.

Mercury/Ceres

Mercury in Aries is not usually considered nurturing, but this aspect suggests bold words can fuel the care and feeding of an adventure or area of learning. Fresh ideas and assertive speech will support what you’re exploring. Or, maybe you’re asserting your intentions to look after someone. Nurturing in this context may require courage, as you venture into a new area.

Uranus/Juno

Juno in Cancer is the “safe” agreement- a partnership contract that features protection, comfort and parental roles. But what’s safe needs to change a bit and the sextile to Uranus suggests a gentle hint of movement into a new area. The relationship itself may encompass some new facets that still work with the original commitment. Or, there may be an agreement to look after each other in a new way that’s still stable. Watch for an emerging definition of resources.
