A Mercury Retrograde for Mystics, Dreamers and Junkies

I thought I’d have a quick bit of shut-eye this afternoon — and woke up totally disoriented from a mad series of dreams two hours later. Mercury Rx in Pisces = more dreamtime. The shadow of this Mercury Retrograde has already brought us some truths stranger than fiction — if you watched Michael Cohen’s deposition you’ll know what I mean. Mercury is stationing in Pisces right now, and turns retrograde tomorrow at 29° — the very last degree of the Zodiac. Mercury in Pisces 10 Feb — 17 April Mercury into the shadow — Feb 19 Mercury Retrograde — March […]

Astrology of Now: Sorry!

If you have written to me in the last few months and have heard nothing in response, I apologise. Yesterday, I found that, for reasons too boring to explain, one of my email addresses has not been functioning for months! I am so sorry and I am endeavouring to respond to each of you this week. Now this is, of course, not brilliant, but on the other hand, thank you Mercury Retrograde, because it might have gone on even longer.  When little Mercury is retrograde, he is excellent at finding lost things. And in my case, he had just slipped […]

Astrology of Now: “Weaponised Data”

Last night Channel 4 news ran a piece in which the head of the data collection company Cambridge Analytica, one Alexander Nix, offered an entrapment and disinformation service to a journalist posing as a Sri Lankan politician. Cambridge Analytica worked on Donald Trump’s election and the Brexit campaign and was funded by billionaire Ayn Rand enthusiast Robert Mercer. This came a few days after the exposé in The Observer and New York Times of the massive data harvesting on Facebook undertaken by Cambridge Analytica and used to create microtargetted propaganda. To paraphrase whistleblower Christopher Wylie, the data was used to create […]

Astrology of Now: In the Footprints of Saturn

We woke up to snow on Sunday. Swirling, twirling flakes, hurtling fast, then fluttering delicately past the bedroom window. The garden had vanished by 6am and by mid-day a soft, heavy blanket of white had covered everything. With snow comes silence. It’s easy in the first snowfall to imagine yourself in a different time — maybe a horse-drawn sleigh will trot down my suburban street. And then time slows too. Instead of cars, people and their dogs trudge and stumble down the street. We went out for a while and, coming home, walked past the end of our road, unrecognisable […]
