July 17th, 2019: Venus in Cancer Opposing Saturn

John Bauer

  • Venus in Cancer opposite Saturn Rx in Capricorn (16 deg_

  • Venus conjunct the North Node (17 deg)

  • Ceres stations direct (0 deg Sagittarius)

Venus opposing the ruler of July 16th’s eclipse indicates that the eclipse results will deliver a reality check around what you want and love. This could be a commitment, ending or hard definition that locks you in to what you want.

Sometimes strict boundaries can be a good thing, especially if you’ve been craving security and tradition. If so, this eclipse could deliver a very reassuring conclusion. But if you end up being denied, know that Venus’ move over the North Node says it’s time to move on, no matter what. The future awaits, and it’s full of the authentic, nurturing expression of what you want and need. Saturn is just making it easier to get there, because you can’t go back (and you probably don’t want to).

If you’re feeling unloved, pressured or restricted (you can’t enjoy what you want to enjoy) know that this is part of the maturity process. Draw your line, define your values, move on. Take responsibility for what you want – family and parental issues are key. Remember that you’re moving towards what you want and need. This is not some random craving or indulgence. You’re taking a hard look at what you’re ready to commit to. Consider the line between want and need (very important). The two are combined now, so it’s about more than indulgence.

Ceres direct continues the theme of forward movement – expansive nurturing or the exploration of growth in new areas is now ready to progress. Watch for movement in something you’ve put your faith in.

Protecting Our Inner Circle

If we can quietly observe and reflect in what holds the most importance for our individual growth, we could find an opportunity in this cosmic process of breakdown, to break through. Areas that surround our values, relationships, love and money will be most sensitive this week, with a lonely Venus/Saturn opposition on Wednesday July 17, […]

July 15th, 2019: Saturn Rx Square Pallas in Libra

  • Saturn Rx in Capricorn square Pallas in Libra (16 deg)

Relationship (Libra) strategies (Pallas) reach a crisis point as rules/traditions dictate what cannot work. There may be an imbalance between you and another that’s blocking cooperation or the effective exchange of solutions. This is not a new issue – the square also occurred on Apr 9th (20 deg). At that time, Pallas was Rx and Saturn direct. Now, Saturn is Rx and Pallas is direct – the limits are under review. You’re trying to move forward, but those commitments from the past have popped up once more.

It’s not a great day for compromise, so don’t expect easy solutions. Rather, consider what’s causing the imbalance and why.

Full Moon Eclipse in Capricorn

The July 16th Full Moon eclipse (24 deg Capricorn) conjoins Pluto Rx. Pluto purges what’s beneath the Capricorn structure, resulting in the deconstruction of old traditions. The past is being unearthed.

There is a massive redefinition coming up. The death of old rules and transformative results that uncover a new reality. A Moon/Pluto conjunction means intense needs and emotions – a feeling of life or death, even if the situation is not about this (on the surface). The heightened energy of the Full Moon eclipse (massive culmination) will amplify that intensity. There could be obsessive feelings of control (and fear) as what you’re trying to control is swept away. Know that Pluto is relentless, so don’t even bother trying to clamp down- just accept the ending while focusing on the future.

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn and Saturn Rx applies to an opposition with Venus in Cancer (exact on July 17th). So we see another ending/result (an opposition is always a culmination). What you want/love (Venus) will be defined by this culmination: there will be limits (or maybe a commitment) but Venus will also cross the North Node (path forward) so you’re moving ahead, no matter what.

If you get what you want, or not, there will be heavy responsibilities but you’ll still be moving in the right direction (the North Node). A Pluto-flavoured eclipse ensures that your old foundations will crumble so you might as well love what’s coming up – commit (Saturn) to focusing on what’s next. Note that Capricorn is old age/maturity and Cancer is the child, so this situation will be new born: the “death” and rebirth as Venus crosses the North Node.

July 9th, 2019: First Quarter Square

  • First Quarter Square between the Libra Moon and Cancer Sun (16 deg)

  • Moon in Libra square Saturn Rx/South Node in Capricorn (17 deg)

  • Sun in Cancer conjunct the North Node, opposite Saturn Rx/South Node in Capricorn (17 deg)

The First Quarter Square involves the Nodes and Saturn Rx, so there’s extra oomph. Something is out of balance – old rules/traditions/fears need to be addressed, as well as family issues. It feels very personal and subjective, but there’s a prompt that encourages you to step back and balance your needs with another’s.

This will feel uncomfortable: you’ll feel like focusing on your stuff while curling up and hugging your blanket/cat/bottle of wine. The very act of trying to balance anything may feel like too much work. But the way forward (the Sun conjoins the North Node) is only open if you can view the past and future objectively. That means taking action – correct the imbalance, tend to that old responsibility, finalize the ending. Consider how your needs impact others.

The Moon squaring the Nodes means this balance is crucial – you are at the tipping point between past and future. There may be a specific relationship, or this could just be about you bringing your life back into balance. Saturn Rx will apply pressure, forcing you to focus, grow up or do the work. You may need to balance adult with child, authority with empathy, independence with vulnerability.
