Scorpio Season, Featuring Jupiter

Scorpio season begins on October 23rd at 1:26 AM EDT. This year, it’s all about Jupiter, which will expand Scorpio’s depth.

Optimism as the lights go out is one possibility. Expanding darkness can force you to dig deeper for something to have faith in. In general, the Sun’s Scorpio ingress marks the season of death and rebirth, transformation and merging. These themes will be accelerated by Jupiter. You’ll still be turning inwards, but the scope of what you learn will be enlarged. This will be about the internal, undiscovered country. And, the internal, undiscovered resources. There’s always more underneath: more to the story, more value, more power.

If you have a birthday from October 23rd to October 30th, the Sun/Jupiter conjunction will be part of your Solar Return year.

Here are the aspects the Sun in Scorpio will make:

  • October 26th: conjunct Jupiter (3 deg)
  • October 28th: opposite Pallas Rx (5 deg Taurus)
  • November 3rd: trine Neptune Rx (11 deg Pisces)
  • November 4th: square Ceres (12 deg Leo)
  • November 4th: Full Moon (11 deg Taurus)
  • November 8th: sextile Juno (16 deg Capricorn)
  • November 9th: sextile Pluto (17 deg Capricorn)
  • November 11th: square the Nodes (19 deg Aquarius/Leo)
  • November 16th: trine Chiron Rx (24 deg Pisces)
  • November 17th: inconjunct Uranus Rx (25 deg Aries)
  • November 18th: New Moon 26 deg Scorpio
  • November 20th: inconjunct Pallas Rx (28 deg Aries)
  • November 21st: Sagittarius ingress

Mercury’s Transit of Scorpio: Unspeakable

Mercury enters Scorpio on October 17th. Communication becomes raw, uncomfortable and honest.

Scorpio’s honesty is based on taboos, secrets and hidden strategies. Mercury in Scorpio is the detective, researcher and quiet observer. Nothing is said impulsively. There is a protracted period of internal analysis, and then all the layers are peeled back. What comes out can be intimate or ugly, but it will be true.

Sometimes this can be a quiet transit, because Scorpio is intensely private. But with Mercury’s conjunction to Jupiter on October 18th, silence is doubtful. Mercury/Jupiter is the big mouth – the call for truth, the persuasive sale pitch or the exaggerated pronouncement. We must always be aware that Jupiter’s enthusiasm can push things too far. Do you want to know…everything? Are you prepared for the reaction when you drop that verbal depth-charge?

If you’re smart about this transit, you can learn quite a bit and it will benefit you. Decide if you really want to know. If the answer is “yes” use what you learn with caution. Don’t treat it lightly, don’t take it for granted and don’t ignore it, if it turns out to be heavier than anticipated.

Here are the aspects Mercury in Scorpio will make:

  • Oct 18th: conjunct Jupiter (1 deg)
  • Oct 22nd: opposite Pallas Rx (7 deg Taurus)
  • Oct 22nd: square Ceres (9 deg Leo)
  • Oct 24th: trine Neptune Rx (11 deg Pisces)
  • Oct 24th: sextile Juno (11 deg Capricorn)
  • Oct 27th: sextile Pluto (17 deg Capricorn)
  • Oct 30th: square the Nodes (21 deg Leo/Aquarius)
  • Nov 2nd: trine Chiron Rx (24 deg Pisces)
  • Nov 2nd: inconjunct Uranus Rx (25 deg Aries)
  • Nov 5th: Sagittarius ingress

Jupiter In Scorpio: It’s Getting Darker

Jupiter’s transit of Scorpio (October 10th, 2017 – November 8th, 2018) will take expansion to a new level. The sign associated with sex, death, taboos and transformation will be hit with a depth charge. All sorts of dark stuff will rise to the surface. Internal growth will be the theme – the growth of buried issues, secrets and inner power.

Scorpio is about extremes. Is ___ forbidden? Great! Scorpio wants the truth that lies beyond the fears, and sometimes this means burning the whole thing to the ground and rising from the ashes. Ultimately, Scorpio wants you to come out stronger, because you’ve faced The Worst. You gain power by losing it – you confront your limits, allow something to die, and become empowered by moving through the whole experience and learning from it. Jupiter may initially expand The Worst, so you can no longer deny it. You’ll be taken to your limit, as Jupiter encourages addiction, obsession or destructive behaviour.

Problems will arise if you get stuck in the “burn it down” phase. If you don’t have a strategy for moving on, Jupiter in Scorpio can become the whirlpool that sucks you in.

However, for some, there may be no showdown with the Shadow, just a massive hit of success based on some previously intelligent moves (regarding finances or security needs). Scorpio is about resourcefulness, and when its energy is used properly, there can be an increase (Jupiter) in personal power.

Many people associate Taurus with all money matters, but Scorpio is about what you share with others. This includes other people’s money. So this transit may bring big financial gains or losses. How have you been spending/investing, in the context of what you owe or share? Does someone else hold the purse strings?

And of course, Scorpio is about sex. More precisely, merging with another. What is gained or lost during intimacy (including control) will be important. This transit may bring more sex. But. Will more sex be about you trusting and exploring taboos in a healthy, consensual way? Or will it be a compulsion that takes you down a dark road? In both scenarios, you give up your power. I’m sure you can figure out which is healthier.

Consider the positives and negatives of Scorpio. Then, imagine these things getting bigger.

Healthy Scorpio

  • courage gained from confronting ugly truths
  • fearless intimacy and passion with no limits
  • uncovering layers of inner strength
  • transformation after hitting bottom
  • savvy management of shared financial resources

Unhealthy Scorpio

  • manipulation
  • remaining stuck in habitual dark dramas
  • hitting bottom and staying there
  • attraction to destructive people/situations
  • more debt

Whatever happens, Jupiter in Scorpio wants you to give it your all. Total commitment. This is how you will capitalize on any successes that come your way. And this is how you will make your way forward if things get ugly.

This doesn’t mean losing all sense of self-preservation and destroying yourself (unless you really want to). It means total commitment to looking at the secret, speaking the unspeakable, owning your Shadow or allowing the rotting situation to die. Then, you’ll swim to the surface.
