| Artist Francis Bacon has Mars in Pisces Part of an obsessive series of Screaming Pope paintings over years, initially inspired by Velasquez’s Pope Innocent X portrait in Rome but constant reworking may have been psychological turmoil over his homosexuality. 13th March 2013, Argentinian Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglia announced as Pope Francis 1st in Rome |
On the 2nd February, 2013 the warrior planet Mars packed its kitbag and set off on its journey into the water world of Pisces, where it will encamp, compelled to love and be loved until it begins to spring into action and gambol and jump onto the energetic trampoline of fiery Aries on the 12th March, 2013.

Author, broadcaster, comedy scriptwriter and UK Labour politician John O’Farrell has Mars in Pisces He wrote for UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown who also has Mars in Pisces On the 28th February 2013 he is standing as Labour candidate in the Eastleigh by election ‘Suddenly, I feel really lucky to have an outlet for the profound sense of outrage I feel about this coalition government. This is the most important and interesting byelection for years, with the bizarre situation of Liberals and Tories fighting each other for the right to vote for exactly the same terrible policies. How could I not want to get in and help Labour stop both of them? |
While Mars is here, swimming in the oceans of Pisces, it will be mutable, mobile and malleable on any number of ‘issues’ whether personal, social or universal. During it’s stay in Pisces it floats and gets pulled by the strong currents and tides although it is also muscular enough to swim against the flow should it so choose.
Footballer/Model/Sex Symbol/Icon David Beckham has Mars in Pisces
‘Everyone’s been so quick to say that Im really thick or I haven’t got a brain… I have got this obsessive compulsive disorder where i have to have everything in a straight line or everything has to be in pairs..People react to criticism in different ways, and my way is definitely to come out fighting.’
Mars the planet of action will be driven to rescue and provide a raft for those who may be drowning or engulfed in conflict. We may find ourselves torn between intervention and laissez faire or just full on or full off. We may want to help then at the same time feel equally powerless to do justice to our ambitions. Whether split in two, torn asunder or just dithering and juddering on the spot, our actions will not be quite so clear cut or simple.
‘There is a very famous saying among Tibetan Buddhists: ‘If the student is not better than the teacher, then the teacher is a failure.”
Mars love a good fight and whilst it was in humanitarian and freedom loving Aquarius some real battles played out on the global stage. ‘The People’ elected in a new government in both Japan and Israel. The USA watched and listened to the inauguration speech by President Obama speaking for ‘we the people‘, sparking up heated debate about the meaning of liberty and liberalism as well as bringing into high focus those in the minority or outposts of society. ‘We, the people, declare today that the most evident of truths—that all of us are created equal—is the star that guides us still; just as it guided our forebears through Seneca Falls and Selma, and Stonewall.’
On a truly sad note, the tragic shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School also sparked up the issue of freedom and the cost to safety in daily life of the American citizen insistence on the right to bear arms and the protection of their children.
Facing the future what can we expect of Mars as it now clammers, trying hard to keep its shape and find its form in the transparent opaqueness of water? When looked at directly water will both reveal and distort the image beneath it and in much the same way Pisces can be both unfathomable whilst appearing transparent. Pisces emotions and feelings appears to be on display and yet Pisces can often absolutely confound any further attempt at questioning or analysis. Mars in watery Pisces will actually feel what it is like to ‘be there’ and it’s actions will be visceral and emotionally driven. However, the Pisces fish do swim in different directions and get pulled into eddies that can get very murky.
Check out the Pisces zone in your own chart. This area will see the passing of a zealous compassionate avenger or defender through it and used wisely this energy can be healthy and much needed. For instance if Pisces is your 6th house zone you could save a work colleague from a situation that they are struggling with by listening or counselling them through it. Or is it passing through your 4th house zone of family and you need to open up your home to people or even creatures who need rescuing.
Conversely, used more negatively you could get lost in a sea of endless possibilities. You could feel unable or too fearful to choose an option and act that may cripple all your best intentions. If it is moving through your personal 11th zone people you value as friends may eventually drain you or take advantage of your good nature.
Pisces going through your 5th house zone and your kids will be testing out your No! maybe feeling that it does not really mean No! but really ‘well maybe’.
