Venus in Aries: Cy Twombly

“It’s more like I’m having an experience than making a picture.” — Cy Twombly Cy Twombly’s work is unmistakable: giant scribbles, smudges, words and phrases crash together across vast stretches of white. They look as if they’ve been made in an instant, a flash, a dash, a moment of possession — a child’s response to the world. Yet the world to which Twombly responds is adult and intellectual. He chose to live in the glorious encrustation of Rome where he could have direct experience every day of deep Western culture. His knowledge of myth and history was profound. So why did he […]

May 19th, 2017: Enjoy What You Have

Arthur Hacker

  • Sun in Taurus squares the North Node in Leo/South Node in Aquarius: 28 degrees
  • Venus in Aries opposes Jupiter Rx in Libra: 13 degrees
  • Mars in Gemini inconjunct Pluto Rx in Capricorn: 19 degrees

The Taurus Sun (ruling the North Node) presents you with a choice. There’s something you’re struggling to preserve or build up, and ideally, it should make you proud (Leo North Node). But a situation from the past, involving disruption or detachment, may tempt you to throw up your hands and walk away. Not so fast – this is the moment where you stand fast and say “Look what I’ve created.” Walk towards the spotlight. Enjoy what you have.

Venus/Jupiter hits the same degree Venus was at when she stationed Rx in Aries (March 4th). This culmination will be based on that date. Results may be big and beautiful, as you receive a massive helping of what you want. But this aspect can also exaggerate Venus themes, so expectations about relationships/money may encourage you to push it too far/spend too much. Nonetheless, any aspect between Venus and Jupiter (especially Jupiter in Venus-ruled Libra) suggests social opportunity – there should be a way to attract more of what you love. Think back to March 4th for a hint about what these results might be.

Mars/Pluto suggests uneven arguments or choices. Mars’ assertiveness is fired up by Pluto, but unconscious factors can trigger actions/anger that end up being far more intense than the situation warrants. Before you choose, consider your true motivation. If you’re on the receiving end of someone’s pushiness, consider that they may not be fully aware of what they’re doing.

Venus in Aries: Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew

In the early spring of 1970, jazz fans were only talking about one album — a rich, textured blast of sound played with freestyle mastery and driven by an enormous rhythm section. Miles Davis, the prince of cool, had plugged in and gone electric. Not only was Davis’ use of electrical instruments an innovation on Bitches Brew, so was his use of post-production techniques in the studio. The double album was recorded over three short days in August 1969, but Davis went on to edit, layer, insert and resplice in the studio for months with his producer Teo Macero. The result was a chef d’oeuvre that spawned a new genre — […]

Trump, Venus, a Pagan Egg, and the 2020 Election Cycle

Are We All Pagans Now?

by Jude Cowell

Over at The Maddow Blog a headline appeared May 2nd saying that the Trump Team flubs the first ad of the 2020 election cycle so, on the topic of a 2020 Trump campaign for a second term, it behooves interested astrologers to discover the position of planet Venus on Election Day November 10, 2020 since goddess planet Venus links to our every-four-year

Astrology of Now: Venus Exalted

My daughters’ favourite moment during the recent Venus Retrograde was their discovery of a large skeleton in a lonely, crumbling ruin by the edge of the roaring Atlantic — even the 13 year old lost her composure for a full moment. They burst out of the broch — a 10th century miniature fort — and into the rain, terrified and thrilled. Then they crawled back through the dark, muddy tunnel for a closer look. The 40-day Venus retrograde can be read as Venus’ journey through the Underworld. Perhaps this was a little re-enactment of that story of Inanna’s journey to the Kur, the Sumerian hell. As you […]
