Saturn in Sagittarius: Part Two

Saturn is the most distant and by far the slowest moving of the planets used by traditional astrologers. Therefore he has the deepest impact on the sign in which he finds himself. Saturn rules boundaries, gloom, depression, restriction, rules, harvest, death, structure, bones, old age, longevity, melancholy; the bare necessities, the bare minimum, the nitty gritty. I saw an interesting lecture by Rick Levine last September at the Astrological Association Conference. He pointed out that in English, words beginning with st are often Saturnine in meaning: stone, static, steely, steady, stern, setting a standard, sturdy, steadfast, studied, stone-cold sober, structure, strict, stranded… […]

More on the Independent Study

I want to make it clear to the Independent Study people that you will be creating your own curriculum–therefore, for the three classes, you are responsible for providing the theme, the chart data, the biographical links (Wiki will do for most) and the dates for progressions, if any. I would also like […]

Saturn in Sagittarius: Part One

As Saturn, the reaper, slows to a halt before turning retrograde in mid-March, let’s pause to reflect what the transit of this great planet through the sign of the centaur means. In this post, I’ll look briefly at the past Saturn in Sag period to give us a handle on this one. I am going to be honest with you.  I don’t know how any astrologer can consciously give counsel without using the progressed chart.  Without […]

Oh So Pretty- Venus Return

My Venus Return happened 30 minutes ago. It should be blissful, but the way things are in the partition at present, I’m assuming it will be anything but. Besides, I don’t have a great record of good hair days with…

Liberty The last light has gone out of the world, except This moonlight lying on the grass like frost Beyond the brink of the tall elm’s shadow. It is as if everything else had slept Many an age, unforgotten and lost The men that were, the things done, long ago, All I have thought; and but the moon and I Live yet and here stand idle over the grave Where all is buried. Both have liberty To dream what we could do if we were free To do some thing we had desired long, The moon and I. There’s none […]

Something about clearing my mind…

I came home from work yesterday afternoon and, instead of getting stuck into this weekends deliverables- I still have two weekends worth of work on this commissioned astro stuff, and need to deliver my structural edit for Baby It’s You to the&#…
