  • Sun in Aquarius sextile Jupiter in Sagittarius (18 deg)

  • Mercury in Aquarius sextile Mars in Aries (25 deg)

  • Uranus in Aries opposite Pallas in Libra (29 deg)

Sun/Jupiter delivers buoyant energy that encourages you to have faith in something unique (including yourself). It’s ok to stand out, be yourself or take a risk, and judgements should be almost non-existent. Aquarius is very open-minded and Jupiter (in positive aspect) is all about benevolence.

Mercury/Mars adds to the above with assertive but not pushy words. The harmony of the sextile adds Mars’ aggressiveness in a manageable way, encouraging outspoken information that is delivered in an acceptable manner. Combined with Sun/Jupiter, today’s influences favour exploration, the communication of fresh ideas standing up for yourself with easy confidence.

However, Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) opposite Pallas does suggest that liberating moves will trigger some imbalances. Pallas in Libra’s polite social strategies will be upended, or even abruptly abandoned. Not a deal-breaker, but consider if any relationship plans, compromises or solutions have outlived their usefulness.

Note that this opposition (a culmination) takes places at 29 degrees (the final degree). This strongly points to the end of a social issue – you may be liberated or surprised, but either way there’s no going back. If this makes you uneasy, know that Jupiter’s influence suggests that this is a good thing.

  • Mars in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn (21 deg)

  • Vesta enters Pisces

Mars/Pluto

Mars (conscious actions, anger) in a crisis-ridden square to Pluto (power and unconscious motivations) suggests powerful eruptions that are driven by things you’re not fully aware of. The crisis lies in the tension between unconscious and conscious – actions don’t align with motivations, and the result is usually something frustrated, hostile or even violent. Especially with Mars at full force in aggressive Aries.

So the key here is awareness. Before you do it or lash out, pay attention to what’s driving you. What do you really want to accomplish? Chances are there will be a deep push that feels urgent – life or death, even if the situation is something mundane like arguing over who takes out the garbage. Tune into the urgency, because it’s a doorway into what’s really motivating you (a simmering issue).

The risk is doing something out of proportion to the external circumstances. Don’t allow yourself to get carried away by what you haven’t fully identified. Too, someone could be attempting to manipulate you with domineering actions. Again, know that there’s more beneath the surface.

On the plus side, the square always suggests a corner that can be turned. And this aspect is tremendously powerful. If directed correctly, your actions can permanently transform a situation.

Think about that.

This is a First Quarter Square, which means you’ll be pushed to do something. But it’s not the start – the actual kickoff of this issue was April 26th, 2018 when Mars conjoined Pluto Rx at 21 deg Capricorn. Now you’ve reached the crisis and turning point.

Vesta

Vesta’s focus turns towards unseen matters as she enters Pisces. Here we have devotion to all things spiritual, creative and compassionate. Devotion can become heightened if you get hooked into a higher ideal or dream- this transit favours meditation, visionary work and prayer.

Vesta can become fixated on an issue, and if that happens to be something you feel requires your sacrifice, you can end up losing a great deal. Sometimes sacrifices are necessary, but sometimes they’re misguided.

Vesta will exit Pisces for Aries on April 3rd, 2019.

Vesta into Pisces and Mars/Pluto create an interesting contrast. Consider where your motivations are pushing you – Vesta’s higher focus suggests a transformation for the better. Can you feel the two energies? You’ll certainly feel Mars/Pluto’s raw power (or powerful manipulations) but see if you can sense a shift in focus to something that allows you to transcend or release (Pisces).

  • Sun conjunct Mercury in Aquarius (9 deg)

  • Mars in Aries sextile Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (19 deg)

  • Uranus in Aries sextile Vesta in Aquarius (28 deg)

The Sun/Mercury conjunction is a “Full Moon” phase in the Sun/Mercury cycle – a superior conjunction that delivers an answer or result. In Aquarius, we can expect it to be surprising, clear and possibly disruptive. A light will be shone on all matters involving the collective and your relationship to society.

The last Sun/Mercury conjunction occurred on November 27th, 2018 at 5 deg Sagittarius, when Mercury was Rx. This was an inferior conjunction- the “New Moon” part of the cycle and a new beginning. What was introduced at that time may be connected to the results you see today.

The Mars/BML sextile is a harmonious blend of male energy (Mars) and the dangerous, rebellious woman. She is energized by Mars, which could mean she uses male energy/sexual energy to her advantage. Or, she uses conflict and anger to power her forward (smoothly), drawing the collective’s attention to her taboo issues. Uranus adds oomph to Vesta’s focus on independence and liberation- Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) adds gentle encouragement to the devotion of whatever’s on the outside.

Combined with Sun/Mercury, today’s influences all favour the outsider, the rebel or the detached observer. Today is an excellent day to gain clarity and perspective on a difficult issue because emotions will be less pronounced than logic. Stepping outside the lines is a possibility, with innovative flashes and surges of quirky or shocking energy.

Finding the power in anger: A Mars story co-starring Black Moon Lilith

I recently came across this article about female rage.  As many of you know, the power of anger as expressed through Mars in the natal chart is a speciality of mine, probably because my own Mars is conjunct the little planet Chiron which deals with soul wounds, so I’ve had to do a lot of […]

  • Waning Trine between the Libra Moon and Aquarius Sun (5 deg)

  • Mars in Aries trine Jupiter in Sagittarius (16 deg)

  • Ceres enters Sagittarius

Easy Flow

The Waning Trine encourages a natural flow between Libra’s one-on-one connections and Aquarius’ energy of the group/public. Personal and detached blend in a light, easy way – this encourages connections at all levels as public merges with partnerships and vice versa. Excellent for reaching out to others in a way that’s relatable to all. If you want to make a connection with someone new (or a new group) but you’re not sure how you’ll be received, this is your moment.

Mars/Jupiter add fuel to the above as actions are buoyed by faith and confidence. Starting something new or doing something that requires a bit of courage can work out as Jupiter graces efforts with good timing and luck. Follow the path of least resistance and just do it- see where it leads you. Jupiter also increases Mars’ energy, so this is the time to tackle a difficult project.

Ceres

Ceres into Sagittarius broadens the scope of nurturing and adds optimism to the cycle of care and loss. The urge to nurture more can increase (or you may discover that there’s more to look after). You’re not forgetting that loss is part of the cycle, but Sagittarius encourages you to look beyond the moment of grief – there’s a bigger picture that includes faith in something to look forward to (a reason or a truth). Even if there is no reason for what you’re losing, Sagittarius says that it doesn’t matter – the cycle keeps rolling and life continues.

Ceres in Sag can be helpful to those who have recently endured a loss, or who are in the midst of nurturing someone who is ill. This transit reminds you that there is always more on the horizon, even if you can’t see it right now. This transit can reignite your desire to care and nurture (yourself or something else). There could be an expansion of the urge to mother, protect or feed.

In mundane matters, this transit can emphasize the legal, philosophical or educational themes around food, mother/child dynamics or being a caregiver. Note that Jupiter (ruler of Sag) trining Mars energizes this ingress with courage – is it time to kick off a more assertive approach to nurturing? You can probably accomplish more than you think.

Ceres’ transit of Sagittarius will be extended due to her retrograde:

  • April 9th, 2019: stations Rx at 14 deg

  • July 17th, 2019: stations direct at 0 deg

  • November 15th, 2019: Capricorn ingress
