  • Moon in Cancer trine Mercury in Pisces (10 deg)

  • Moon in Cancer opposite Venus in Capricorn (14 deg)

  • Moon in Cancer trine Neptune in Pisces (15 deg)

  • Moon in Cancer opposite Saturn in Capricorn (16 deg)

  • Moon in Cancer opposite Pluto in Capricorn (22 deg)

The Cancer Moon makes some difficult oppositions today. Moon/Venus is not so bad – the need for security/hugs may be emphasized but not quite met because the desire for status/control runs counter to what’s needed. But the opposition to Saturn and Pluto can be quite tense, as restrictions suggest you won’t get what you need but there will be a dramatic intensification of those needs.

Pluto opposite the Moon suggests a fear of loss – the powerful surge that threatens to sweep away what you’ve been clinging to. But the opposition to Saturn says that you need to be self-sufficient. At this point in time, you are the only one who can provide for yourself. Note that Moon/Saturn is a strong parental signature; watch for Mother/Father issues to pop up.

The mood may swing from profoundly needy to hurt and helpless if you give others power over your feelings. Something bigger than you may indeed trigger a loss (or fear of loss) – focus on your inner security and self-care rather than fighting what you can’t control.

The Moon does make a couple of smooth trines. Moon/Mercury helps you put needs into words – the formless sense is given a voice. Identify what makes you feel safe, then allow it to expand as Moon/Neptune reminds you that it’s not personal. Yes, Neptune is transpersonal and while it can increase sensitivity, if you tune into the undercurrent you’ll realize that there’s something more/bigger out there. Maybe others feel as you do, or perhaps you can look beyond your immediate situation and see that the universe/higher power/bigger picture/glass of wine…whatever…reminds you to take a step back and release.

Exhale and look after yourself.

  • Moon in Cancer square Mars in Aries (12 deg)

  • Moon in Cancer opposite Saturn in Capricorn (13 deg)

  • Moon in Cancer trine Neptune in Pisces (14 deg)

The Moon/Mars square triggers emotional outbursts. The Moon is at its most powerful in Cancer (the sign it rules) which means feelings and needs will be close to the surface. Mars can stir up anger, passion or hurt feelings, and everything will be taken very personally.

But the Moon’s opposition to Saturn clamps down on any outbursts. Cancer is the child and Capricorn (ruled by Saturn ) is the adult. So we have an equally strong Saturn using authority and rules to block the expression of feelings. The result can be simmering frustration and repressed needs. Watch for stress-induced regressions into childhood.

The trine to Neptune is your outlet. If you’re feeling angry or impatient, you can tap into a source of creativity, transcendence or spirituality. Neptune encourages you to reach beyond your immediate needs – exhale and consider what else you can do in the moment, since Saturn will effectively block you. You will feel needy or restricted.

Remind yourself that this too shall pass and there’s always something more beyond what’s happening right now (Cancer is intensely personal but Neptune/Pisces is transpersonal). If you can find a way to forgive or shrug off the tension while focusing on what’s soothing and uplifting, you can glide through these stormy waters.

January 16th, 2019: Quiet Progress

  • Waxing Trine between the Taurus Moon and Capricorn Sun (26 deg)

  • Sun in Capricorn conjunct the South Node (26 deg)

  • Ceres in Scorpio trine the Cancer North Node (26 deg)

The Waxing Trine enables smooth progress as rules and ambitions are integrated with habits and security. What works for you and makes you comfortable will fit easily into a structure – your plans can progress slowly but surely if you use what you’ve got.

The Waxing Trine also involves the Sun’s conjunction to the South Node, so part of moving forward will involve the integration of a past rule or result. Or, perhaps an ending is necessary before you can take your next step. The Capricorn South Node suggests a law, judgement or responsibility that is now delivering results. How can you make the most of this? The Earth sign emphasis means visible, physical results – perhaps a structural foundation, material resources or the body.

Meanwhile, Ceres’ trine to the North Node encourages the development of a new area of emotional awareness. Deep nurturing can open the door to something that makes you vulnerable, but it’s safe – you can explore your needs without being hurt. The mother/child dynamic is very strong here and there may be someone who’s acting as your caring guide (or perhaps you’re intensifying the nurturing you’re capable of). Any relationship that involves unconditional care and support can move in a good direction.

The solidity of the Waxing Trine can support the development of a new path that takes you towards something that feels good and right – something that resonates in your core even if you can’t articulate it yet.

Overall, this can be a quietly productive day with progress that’s significant but not dramatic.
