September 4th, 2018: Venus, Vesta and Pallas

  • Venus in Libra sextle Vesta in Sagittarius (26 deg)
  • Pallas enters Virgo

Venus/Vesta

Carrying forward yesterday’s influences, Venus in harmony with Vesta suggests focus on an ideal/philosophy/area of exploration is supported by a relationship. It’s acceptable for you to be devoted to this, and it may even come off as charming. Too, this could be about the higher ideal of relationships – a new and exalted way to balance faith/exploration with what someone else wants. There’s a sense of beautiful justice as the story unfolds.

Pallas

Pallas into Virgo filters strategies through the lense of perfection. This is the extremely detailed strategy or the concise pattern that neatly connects A with B. Facts meet creativity and the goal is to find the ultimate solution.

Virgo’s purity factors into this. It’s about doing what’s best and finding the cleanest way to apply what you know. Integration is important – Pallas in this sign suggests picking out the most important details, discarding everything else and following that essential pattern which will (hopefully) create a finely-tuned system. Pallas helps you see how all the little parts fit together.

Obsessively detailed jobs will flourish under this transit, especially if they involve healing, fixing, upgrading, editing or specialised craftmanship.

Pallas will exit Virgo for Libra on November 4th, 2018.

September 3rd, 2018: A Mix Of Beautiful and Practical

  • Mercury in Leo sextile Venus in Libra (25 deg)
  • Mercury in Leo trine Vesta in Sagittarius (26 deg)
  • Mars in Capricorn trine Ceres in Virgo (28 deg)

Mercury/Venus is communication with a hint of romance or creativity. Shiny words are sweetened with the perfect touch of charm – great for sparkling conversation. The trine to Vesta suggests that a story, ideal or higher form of knowledge that you’ve been focusing on can be shared with others in the best possible way. Excellent if you’re trying to convince someone of something, or impress them with your wisdom. Also good for sharing a philosophy that you’re devoted to or telling a story. Note that this energy is focused but not intense – the vibe is bright and confident.

These are repeat aspects:

  • Jun 21st: Mercury in Leo trine Vesta Rx in Sagittarius (22 deg)
  • Jul 31st: Mercury Rx in Leo trine Vesta Rx in Sagittarius (22 deg)
  • Aug 18th: Mercury Rx in Leo sextile Venus in Libra (11 deg)

Mars/Ceres is motivated nurturing. Nurturing that means business. Focused actions drive the care and feeding of little things (no detail is missed). This is nurturing that’s aimed at getting something just right, or looking after someone for their own good. Not particularly cuddly but  extremely effective.

So today is a good mix of bright, beautiful words and down-to-earth actions (Ceres is in Mercury-ruled Virgo). Big talk is easily followed by real efforts. This brings to mind a stern but caring nurse who distracts her patient with lovely stories while she dispenses medicine.

  • Waxing Inconjunct between the Aquarius Moon and Virgo Sun (0 deg)
  • Vesta in Sagittarius square Ceres in Virgo (24 deg)

Before we arrive at the peak of the August 26th’s Full Moon in Pisces, there are adjustments to be made. Before you can perfect/finalize/refine, you need to take a left turn from the details. Consider a shot of the unexpected and detach yourself from what you’ve been staring at. The odd extra will announce itself out of the blue, so don’t worry about identifying it. It will be so discordant that you can’t miss it. Rather than discarding it, adjust the current facts and make room for what makes no sense.

Vesta/Ceres suggests that a story or belief you’ve been focusing on is conflicting with something you’ve been nurturing. It could be that the ideal challenges the reality – Vesta in Sag is heightened and passionate, but not practical. Ceres in Virgo is as practical and earthy as it gets. You’re nurturing something mundane, but why does this conflict with what you believe in, or what you’re reaching for?

In her book “Asteroid Goddesses” Demetra George suggests that a hard aspect between Ceres and Vesta can indicate issues with sterility. Vesta is the virginal focus – absolute dedication to one issue to the exclusion of all else. Ceres is mother’s nurturing. When the two conflict, Ceres’ fertility can be compromised by focus elsewhere, and this can be in a literal or metaphorical sense. What you’re attempting to grow is challenged by the exclusive focus on a higher ideal.

The resolution is hinted at in the Waxing Inconjunct – make room for what’s new without abandoning your practical sensibilities.
