  • Mercury Rx in Leo conjunct Mars (4 deg)

  • Venus in Cancer square Chiron in Aries (5 deg)

  • Venus in Cancer sextile Uranus in Taurus (6 deg)

  • Chiron stations Rx in Aries (5 deg)

Mercury/Mars

Words and actions unite, but Mercury’s Rx status means one or more of the following:

  • taking action on a conversation/idea from the past

  • questioning current actions (look behind the shine)

  • looking back intensifies the decision to act (it’s time)

  • a message from the past triggers anger/passion/assertiveness

In general, there’s increased thoughtfulness combined with bold/showy actions. There could be delays, but more likely the second look or question will prompt the actions. This can be a powerful way to manifest, provided you take note of what Mercury Rx is telling you.

Venus/Chiron

Venus’ square to Chiron in Mars-ruled Aries adds another layer to the above. It would appear that the actions are happening in the face of a painful relationship, financial or self-esteem issue. Venus in Cancer is tender, and a hard aspect to Chiron means ultra-sensitive moments where you don’t get what you want (including empathy) or what you want reveals some very awkward feelings. Perhaps this is why Mercury is Rx when joined with Mars – it will be so important to slow down and proceed with care even if you’re asserting yourself with bold words.

However, Venus’ sextile to Uranus (in Venus-ruled Taurus) is hopeful. Despite the pain and tenderness, there’s room to progress, provided you focus on doing things for yourself and liberating yourself from stagnant habits/security needs. Taurus is about self-sufficiency and Uranus is about independence. These energies can support Venus who is (let’s be honest) sometimes quite helpless and needy in Cancer. Look at how you can become more self-sufficient.

And finally, Chiron stations Rx after the “ouch” with Venus. This echoes Mercury’s Rx – more reviews and intensifications. Whatever Venus/Chiron stirred up will amplify what hurts. Chiron Rx can press harder on the wound or force you to slow down and look inside. You can’t ignore it – it’s time to face the pain. You may be called on to display more courage, even though you feel weak. That “weakness” is the entry point and it’s where the healing begins.

Today is the day you assert yourself, with carefully chosen words, in the face of what hurts. Today is the day you take stock of why it hurts.

Venus’ Transit of Cancer: Mommy

Charles West Cope

Charles West Cope

Venus enters Cancer at 11:17 am EDT on July 3rd.

Cancer is ruled by the Moon, which is about needs. Venus is about what you want. The two are very different, but when Venus enters this sign they are united. So think about what you want and need, and how they can come together in the next month. Consider the differences and how they might unite.

Venus in Cancer adds a very personal cast to all relationship, financial and self- esteem issues. It matters because it matters to you, end of story. Venus in Cancer is emotional, empathetic, moody. Love/affection is displayed via nurturing and there is no way to detach. Yes, it’s personal and if they don’t get it they don’t get you. Literally.

You want to feel safe and cuddled. Love is expressed with hugs. If there’s no emotional connection- f**k them.

Food.

We can’t forget about Cancer’s association with comfort food – chocolate, soup, mashed potatoes. Whatever you want and whatever makes you feel good. This is a potent blend of want and security. Mother, nourishment. Milk. How does this play out in your life?

Regardless of what your relationship is with your mother, this transit can take you to a place where you are aware of what you want and need, and it’s all about her. It’s potent because it’s based on the past.

How does what you want connect to your relationship with your mother? Do you need to change it or strengthen it?

Here are the aspects Venus in Cancer will make:

  • Jul 4th: inconjunct Ceres Rx in Sagittarius (1 deg)

  • Jul 8th: square Chiron in Aries (5 deg)

  • Jul 8th: sextile Uranus in Taurus (5 deg)

  • Jul 9th: trine Black Moon Lilith in Pisces ( 7 deg)

  • Jul 14th: sextile Vesta in Taurus (14 deg)

  • Jul 16th: inconjunct Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius (15 deg)

  • Jul 17th: opposite Saturn Rx in Capricorn (16 deg)

  • Jul 17th: square pallas in Libra (17 deg)

  • Jul 17th: conjunct North Node (17 deg)

  • Jul 18th: trine Neptune Rx in Pisces (18 deg)

  • Jul 21st: opposite Pluto Rx in Capricorn (21 deg)

  • Jul 24th: conjunct Mercury Rx (26 deg)

  • Jul 27th: Leo ingress

Cancer New Moon Eclipse: Come Home

A few weeks ago, we moved into a new house; the first house I’ve ever owned. Yes, my name is on the title. Crazy. A homeowner? In Hawaii? How interesting that this a part of “the Plan”! My intention has only always been to listen inward for a sense of rightness, and be guided from that […]

  • Moon in Cancer square Chiron in Aries (5 deg)

  • Moon in Cancer sextile Uranus in Taurus (5 deg)

  • Moon in Cancer trine Black Moon Lilith in Pisces (6 deg)

  • New Moon eclipse at 3:16 pm EDT (10 deg)

Leading up to the eclipse this afternoon, we have a Moon/Chiron square. Here is an “ouch” that may be quite private, since it’s occurring during the dark Moon (the time just before the New Moon). This may be a moment for deeply personal contemplations of family wounds, or you may simply be feeling extra vulnerable.

The Moon’s sextile to Uranus (liberation) and trine to BML (taboo female energy) can provide some gentle encouragement that it’s ok to be different – to be an outsider. Not only is it ok, it’s high time that you embraced your differences, even if this means breaking away from family (or redefining your position within the family). New values and definitions of self-esteem will support you. But you can do this in a non-threatening way; you can blend it with your needs and comfort level so the transition is painless.

Keep in mind that everything that occurs during the dark Moon is for your eyes only, and the flow of energy (waning until the moment of the New Moon) means you’re releasing. This time could feel quietly liberating as you exhale and proceed forward, despite the wound. Chiron in Aries is about having the courage to confront the wound and make it part of your identity as you move forward. You’re imperfect and vulnerable but strong.

The eclipse is your fresh start.

Cancer Solar Eclipse: Expecting

Eclipses herald change, and many of us have found ourselves careening from crisis to crisis – insecure about access to life’s essentials, flapping our wings in perturbation, frantically looking for ways to make ourselves feel safe and to bend the world to our will. Kicking back and letting nature take its course has not felt like an option. But as with all eclipses, this one is part of a larger story…
