  • Venus in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces (14 deg)

  • Mercury in Capricorn trine Juno in Taurus (23 deg)

Venus/Neptune

Venus in Sag is about more of what you want – great expectations regarding relationships, money or self-esteem. This can be a nice boost if handled correctly (faith in what you want and love) but a square to Neptune blurs the lines between expectation and reality. It will be easy to overdo it – spend too much, give too much, expect too much from someone else. Maybe you envision what you want but when you arrive at your destination the vision turns out to be a mirage.

This could manifest as falling in love with someone’s potential (Sag is about the journey and distant horizons) but ignoring what they’re doing/not doing in the present. The future (Sagittarius) fantasy (Neptune) is seductive (Venus) and draws you forward.

Be careful with this one- the imaginative scope is fantastic, but you could end up severely disappointed (or in debt) if you lose sight of what’s actually possible.

Mercury/Juno

Mercury/Juno offers a shot of grounding realism that can lessen some of Venus/Neptune’s side effects. Words and ideas that follow the rules will blend nicely with a partnership that’s grounded in the moment. This is about taking a sober look at what you and another actually share and agree on, right now. What are your joint finances and habits like?

A solid commitment to the present will solidify a partnership.

  • First Quarter Square between the Aries Moon and Capricorn Sun (23 deg)

  • Mercury in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces (14 deg)

The First Quarter Square challenges rules and authority with a shot of something courageous or impulsive. This is a crisis aspect that demands action, which means if control/traditions are challenged by something new, it’s time to step away from what’s defined.

It’s uncomfortable when you have to step outside the lines, especially if you’re the first one doing it. Perhaps the challenge involves fighting against the establishment or someone who’s trying to control you (or who’s always controlled you). “Courage” is the theme here – whether you’re the pioneer or the warrior, your next move might pit you against what’s already been decided. Aries is the upstart and Capricorn is the adult. In this case, the upstart has something valuable to offer. The entire process of antagonism, while unpleasant, is crucial.

Mercury/Neptune is a gentle influence that might not even be felt amidst the tension of the First Quarter Square, but there is a nice opportunity here to take the edge off strict words or rigid ideas. Soften the absolutes with a touch of creativity or empathy. At the same time, your disciplined focus add structure to a vague but promising idea.

  • Mercury in Capricorn conjunct Saturn (12 deg)

  • Jupiter in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces (14 deg)

Jupiter makes the first of three euphoric squares to Neptune. Jupiter expands Neptunes dreams and Neptune dissolves any connection to reality Jupiter might have. 14 deg Sag in your chart is where growth is happening and 14 deg Pisces is where you can glimpse something that transcends all possibilities. There’s magic here.

But add in the tension of the square and you get a crisis of faith (Jupiter) versus disbelief (Neptune), religion (Jupiter) versus spirituality (Neptune) or truth (Jupiter) versus deceit (Neptune). What’s possible versus what’s impossible. And between the two you have friction that prodes you forward, urging you to do something incredible.

The breakthroughs happen when you confront what’s impossible.

This is the aspect of big dreams and everything will be exaggerated. At first, it will feel fantastic as the opportunity seems limitless. But eventually you’ll encounter the comedown or withdrawal.

Still, there’s hope. There is something to work with. Look very carefully at the core potential because there is room for growth. But as the issue expands, keep checking and rechecking that your hopes are in line with reality. if you encounter a crisis of faith, know there’s a reason your faith is being challenged.

This square will reoccur on:

  • June 16th (18 deg, Jupiter Rx)

  • September 21st (17 deg, Neptune Rx)

You’ll be encountering this dream again, so this is only your first shot.

In direct contrast to the above, we have a strict conjunction between Mercury and Saturn. Rules and limits (Saturn) will be clearly identified or communicated (Mercury). You’ll know (or be told) what’s possible and what isn’t. Your focus will be forcefully centered on one issue.

This can ground you as you deal with the Jupiter/Neptune square, because there will be no excuses – what’s real or true will be unmistakable. Use this focus to zero in on what’s possible, and stick with those parameters. If anything involving Jupiter/Neptune falls outside those parameters, question it.

If you manage these energies carefully, today can be a day of significant manifestation.

Interestingly, on June 16th Mercury in Cancer will form a separating oppose to Saturn Rx in Capricorn (18-19 deg) and on September 21st Mercury in Libra will be applying to a square with Saturn (at 12-13 deg). The current conjunction is a new beginning: Mercury/Saturn will clearly define what’s starting. The opposition will deliver results (again, clearly defined) and the square between Mercury in Libra and Saturn will be a final crisis of rules/boundaries versus saying it nicely or glossing over reality. Perhaps some hard questions about a relationship. So this entire Jupiter/Neptune dance will be underscored by some very strict information or parameters on communication. The focus on reality will be continually enforced.

The Magic Window

Commuters on a Train — Cyril Power[/caption] I grew up in a country where it was unusual, on public transport, to see people reading anything other than a smudged newspaper. I moved to London, where inside the bright-lit tube trains, a colourful collage of hundreds of paper covers made a journey gayer and more interesting. Tired people would bury their minds between the paper covers of novels and magazines. Who was reading Harry Potter? Or Tolstoi? Or The New Scientist? Today, when you ride a train or a bus or a plane, everyone escapes through the magic windows of their […]

  • Waning Inconjunct between the Leo Moon and Capricorn Sun (3 deg)

  • Mercury in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces (13 deg)

Waning Inconjunct

The Waning Inconjunct presents an adjustment to the results of December 22nd’s Full Moon – despite the seriousness of Capricorn, Leo will stir things up with a reminder that there’s something to rejoice in or put the spotlight on. Playfulness and joy may not be energies that you feel like embracing, but the inconjunct always asks that you find a way to integrate incompatible issues.

On Christmas Eve, consider what you have to celebrate. Even if you’ve been weighed down by responsibilities or family issues, perhaps you need to take a break, take a mild risk or enjoy what you’ve accomplished this year. You’re not forgetting about the heavier stuff but you are taking pride in how you’ve held it together.

Mercury/Neptune

While the illusions and confusion of the Mercury/Neptune square may initially make it difficult to rejoice, remember that this is actually the conclusion of November 16th’s applying square (which faded when Mercury stationed Rx and backed away).

That initial whisper or promise was almost but not quite. You glimpsed something more (or something suspicious) as Neptune expanded Mercury in Sag’s big, buoyant words (which may have sounded too good to be true). And now you’ll see the truth- the square is a crisis but also a turning point. After the fog lifts there may be some disappointment, but you’ll know exactly what’s real and what isn’t.

Mercury in Sag can also be about words of faith which are undermined by Neptune’s doubts. Again, there will be a crisis but then you’ll come out the other side. Your faith may be tested and questions may be asked. Wouldn’t you like to know the answer?
