Mercury enters Scorpio on October 9th, opening our eyes to what lies in the shadows. This transit is about intimate discussions with a raw edge, the reveal of secrets, clandestine research and peering into the dark side. Mercury in Scorpio may be a less vocal transit, but silence can have a huge impact.

This energy is about making sense of what’s taboo or uncomfortable. There’s a need to understand all the dark things, because knowledge is power for Scorpio. And ultimately, Scorpio is a sign of power, survival and evolution.

Any information that is written or vocalized will not be superficial. Words will be chosen carefully and will have weight – this is your transit if you want to uncover secrets or deliver a message with maximum impact. Talk less, pay attention to what’s going on behind the scenes and don’t be afraid of what you don’t want to know.

Mercury Retrograde

Mercury will station Rx in Sagittarius on November 16th and will re-enter Scorpio on December 1st. From December 1st, 2018 to December 6th, 2018 Mercury will be Rx in Scorpio, which will push you to look even more deeply at what’s hidden or uncomfortable. This will be a brief but profound retrograde in Scorpio, suggesting the reveal of a key taboo, secret or soul truth. Mercury will station direct on December 6th, finally exiting Scorpio on December 12th.

Mercury Rx from Sagittarius to Scorpio suggests looking more closely at what lies beneath the story or new opportunity. The truth behind the truth.

Here are the aspects Mercury in Scorpio will make:

Mercury’s Transit of Libra: Listen

  Delphin Enjolras

Delphin Enjolras

Mercury enters Libra on September 21st: communication and ideas are focused on agreements/disagreements, balances/imbalances and reflection. Harmony is important – words can be superficial or diplomatic in an effort to preserve the peace. Much is not said directly and it’s interesting to consider how conversational balances are achieved.

This can be the ultimate passive-aggressvie energy, as pretty phrases disguise ugly barbs. Or, it can be a relief to simply nod and smile and talk about nothing – sometimes you don’t want to discuss your inner pain. Everything that’s said is socially appropriate.

However, Mercury in Libra is a champion listener – this sign’s objective awareness means truly paying attention to what the other person is saying and reflecting what they’ve said back at them. This is done in a way that validates their ideas and encourages them to say more. It takes some skill (it’s not just about parroting their words).

Libra learns through comparison, so this brief transit can be an excellent opportunity to absorb what others tell you. Remember, Libra is always about the other and sometimes it’s better if you let them do the talking. Once Mercury enters Scorpio you can make use of the knowledge you’ve gained.

Having said this, Mercury in Libra is also very social – chatting, flirting, sprinkling compliments. The key is allowing the other person to have their say and pay close attention to how they respond to what you say. And, consider how their words reflect your energy.

Here are the aspects Mercury in Libra will make:

  • Sept 22nd: opposite Chiron Rx in Aries (0 deg)

  • Sept 22nd: inconjunct Uranus Rx in Taurus (1 deg)

  • Sept 22nd: square Vesta in Capricorn (1 deg)

  • Sept 23rd: square Saturn in Capricorn (2 deg)

  • Sept 23rd: trine Mars in Aquarius (3 deg)

  • Sept 24th: trine the Aquarius South Node (4 deg)

  • Sept 25th: trine Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (5 deg)

  • Sept 27th: conjunct Ceres (9 deg)

  • Sept 30th: inconjunct Neptune Rx in Pisces (14 deg)

  • Oct 2nd: square Pluto in Capricorn (18 deg)

  • Oct 9th: inconjunct Chiron Rx in Pisces (29 deg)

  • Oct 9th: Scorpio ingress

Look At Juno

Those overlooked goddesses! We should be talking a lot more about the impact of transits from the biggest asteroids — Juno, Vesta and Pallas. Note that I say Ceres is an asteroid, actually she’s classified as a “dwarf planet”, like Pluto. See what I mean overlooked — even I did it. Sorry Ceres. Anyway, this one’s about Juno.

Mercury’s Transit of Virgo

  Albrecht Dürer

Albrecht Dürer

Mercury enters Virgo on September 5th. Mercury rules this sign, so details, examinations and thinking/talking about solutions will dominate.

Here is the ultimate analyzer – Mercury in Virgo misses nothing. Helpful critiques (whether people want to hear them or not) are a theme, along with the identification of errors and solutions. Virgo is an Earth sign, so all information is practical and immediately applicable, but details are also refined. Mercury in Virgo is always searching for the best, the most effective, the cleanest.

This can be a dry, somewhat negative transit for Mercury because the downside of things is noticed first. Mercury in Virgo can search for the worst before looking for the best. Ideally, solutions come next, but the distorted version of this energy is constant criticisms and worrying. Picking at what’s wrong until it bleeds. And then worrying about the bleeding.

This is the transit to find the best solutions. Search and identify, then figure out how you can make it better – don’t get stuck in the gerbil wheel of endless mini crises.

Here are the aspects Mercury in Virgo will make:

  • Sept 6th: inconjunct to Chiron Rx in Aries (0 deg)
  • Sept 6th: conjunct Pallas (1 deg)
  • Sept 7th: trine Uranus Rx in Taurus and Saturn in Capricorn (2 deg)
  • Sept 7th: inconjunct Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (3 deg)
  • Sept 13th: opposite Neptune rx in Pisces (14 deg)
  • Sept 15th: trine Pluto Rx in Capricorn (18 deg)
  • Sept 16th: sextile Jupiter in Scorpio (19 deg)
  • Sept 20th: conjunct the Sun (28 deg)
  • Sept 21st: trine Juno in Taurus (28 deg)
  • Sept 21st: Libra ingress

Transit Calendar Is Back In Action

Oh man! My transit calendar has been down for more than a month. It’s been painful! I’m happy to report, I’m pretty sure the issues with it have been resolved.  I’m pleasantly surprised.  So many people have worked on this … Read More…

Leo Season: What Are You Proud Of?

  Adolph von Menzel

Adolph von Menzel

The Sun enters Leo on July 22nd at 5:00 PM EDT/2:00 PM PDT. Leo is the sign of pride, recognition, celebration and drama. Leo energy says “Look at me!” because sometimes you have to shine a light on your special talents or purpose. Otherwise known as having an ego, Leo is what keeps us centered within ourselves.

A theme that’s often overlooked with this sign is “centre.” The Sun is the centre of our solar system and Leo is ruled by the Sun. Sounds simplistic, but this is really the essence of Leo – in the spotlight. When Leo energy is firing on all cylinders there is a certainty in the gut that you’ve got what it takes. You know you’re fab and have something to offer that no one else does. You deserve to be treated like a King/Queen, and that heat radiates outwards and warms those around you (Leo generosity). No one can take that away from you – it would be like another planet nudging the Sun out of orbit.

Distorted Leo lacks that centre. In place of confidence and generosity there is desperation for attention (any attention) and ensuing drama. You look to others to boost your ego, when really you should be receiving their recognition of what you already know.

We all have something to be proud of, and that’s what Leo season is about. I understand that when you’re at your lowest it can feel impossible to celebrate you. But Leo asks that you find that one thing – it can be anything, as long as it makes you proud. Are you ready to put it out there? Yes, the audience is an essential part of Leo – this sign does not function in isolation. Even introverted Leos (they do exist) need a small infusion of public attention at some point. This is not a weakness – it’s simple a quality of the sign, just like Virgo needs order and Sag needs freedom.

The North Node is in Leo until November 6th, 2018. This means the path forward is all about taking pride in your accomplishments and shining a light on what you plan to do. Don’t be shy – celebrate yourself! Yes, I knows- this smacks of sugary self-help platitudes. But sometimes you really just have to say “This is what I’m proud of.” If you don’t recognize you, who will?

Leo is getting some eclipse action: the July 27th Full Moon eclipse in Aquarius (conjunct Mars Rx) emphasizes the South Node (detach from the past) and the August 11th, 2018 New Moon eclipse in Leo conjoins Mercury Rx, emphasizing the North Node. Note the retrograde theme – there’s unfinished business that needs to be wrapped up before you can move forward. Mars Rx and the South Node is stepping back in order to detach and Mercury Rx and the North Node is about emphasizing or reviewing the information before you move forward.

Here are the aspects the Leo Sun will make:

  • July 25th: trine Chiron Rx (2 deg Aries)
  • July 25th: square Uranus (2 deg Taurus)
  • July 26th: inconjunct Saturn Rx (3 deg Capricorn)
  • July 27th: opposite Mars Rx (4 deg Aquarius)
  • July 27th: Full Moon eclipse (4 deg Aquarius)
  • July 28th: conjunct the North Node (5 deg)
  • Aug 6th: square Jupiter (14 deg Scorpio)
  • Aug 7th: conjunct Pallas (14 deg)
  • Aug 8th: inconjunct Neptune Rx (15 deg Pisces)
  • Aug 8th: conjunct Mercury Rx (16 deg)
  • Aug 8th: square Juno (16 deg Taurus)
  • Aug 11th: New Moon eclipse (18 deg)
  • Aug 11th: inconjunct Pluto Rx (19 deg Capricorn)
  • Aug 15th: trine Vesta (22 deg Sagittarius)
  • Aug 21st: inconjunct Mars Rx (28 deg Capricorn)
  • Aug 23rd: Virgo ingress
