Venus’ Transit of Sagittarius: Wanting More

Venus enters Sagittarius on January 7th, expanding possibilities for relationships, money, self-esteem and values. Exploration and optimism colour Venus-themed issues – freedom becomes important and what’s up ahead is attractive (the journey can be more appealing than the destination).

This is a transit that attracts more – you want more and you can get more. There’s a sense of adventure – who knows what might happen and isn’t that the point? This is the time to keep your eyes open and consider what might usually be “impossible”. Take a second look at the romantic prospect who’s not your type, or the source of income that’s unusual/exotic, or the situation that’s a bit outside your comfort zone but still appealing.

Of course, risk must be balanced with reward, but Venus in Sag can teach you about what you thought you wanted, or what you thought your talents/self-worth consisted of. The key is growth- saying “yes” to something bigger and better. Doing more with what you have or reaching beyond what you’ve always wanted and discovering something new that’s appealing.

Don’t limit yourself with what used to matter or what you’ve always attracted. This is the transit that encourages you to consider what lies in unexplored territory.

Here are the aspects Venus in Sag will make:

  • Jan 8th: trine Mars in Aries (11 deg)

  • Jan 20th: square Neptune in Pisces (14 deg)

  • Jan 22nd: conjunct Jupiter (16 deg)

  • Jan 25th: sextile Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (19 deg)

  • Jan 31st: inconjunct the Cancer North Node (26 deg)

  • Jan 31st: inconjunct Juno in Taurus (26 deg)

  • Feb 2nd: trine Uranus in Aries (28 deg)

  • Feb 2nd: sextile Pallas in Libra (28 deg)

  • Feb 3rd: square Chiron in Pisces (29 deg)

  • Feb 3rd: Capricorn ingress

Mercury’s Transit of Capricorn

Eduard von Grützner

Eduard von Grützner

Mercury enters Capricorn on January 4th. Words and thoughts become focused and serious. Messages are delivered with authority. Creativity is less important now than saying it and then doing exactly what you said – the verbal or written commitment. Therefore, the range of ideas is much narrower, but this allows you to identify what has solid potential.

Happening one day before the January 5th eclipse in Capricorn, Mercury’s ingress can signal a formal announcement, serious message or firm decision that’s related to this eclipse. Capricorn makes it real, so Mercury’s messages (or messengers) will have more weight than usual. Trust that what you see and hear is real, even if appears restrictive or judgemental.

On the plus side, this transit is excellent for making plans, putting goals into words and verbalizing boundaries.

Here are the aspects Mercury in Capricorn will make:

  • Jan 8th: square Mars in Aries (4 deg)

  • Jan 13th: conjunct Saturn (12 deg)

  • Jan 18th: conjunct Pluto (21 deg)

  • Jan 20th: trine Juno in Taurus (23 deg)

  • Jan 22nd: conjunct the South Node (26 deg)

  • Jan 22nd: square Pallas in Libra (26 deg)

  • Jan 23rd: square Uranus in Aries (28 deg)

  • Jan 23rd: sextile Chiron in Pisces (28 deg)

  • Jan 23rd: sextile Ceres in Scorpio (29 deg)

  • Jan 24th: Aquarius ingress

Mars’ Aries Ingress: Light The Fire for 2019

Mars enters Aries on December 31st, giving us all a fresh surge of courage and passion as we face down the New Year.

Mars rules Aries, so the planet of action, anger, sex and initiative is at full strength. Excellent for jump-starting a new project, regime or lifestyle. Or, for making the first move. Where Aries sits in your chart is where Mars will be heating things up. However, Mars in Aries is impatient and impulsive, so staying power is not always great.

Yes, Mars will be making difficult squares to Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn (dates and degrees below) but I see these as challenges to be met and corners to be turned. If any planetary energy is ready to power you through a challenge, it’s Mars in Aries. You may experience these squares as frustrations, blocks or confrontations with others (I’ll go into more detail in the daily posts) and you will have to slow down. But Saturn and Pluto can be the grit that gives you traction and tests your courage. And, Saturn especially will be the test that proves if what you’ve started will continue. Will you commit (Saturn) to this course of action (Mars)?

Here are the aspects Mars in Aries will make:

  • Jan 8th: square Mercury in Capricorn (4 deg)

  • Jan 18th: trine Venus in Sagittarius (11 deg)

  • Jan 21st: square Saturn in Capricorn (13 deg)

  • Jan 25th: trine Jupiter in Sagittarius (16 deg)

  • Jan 29th: sextile Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (16 deg)

  • Feb 1st: square Pluto in Capricorn (21 deg)

  • Feb 7th: sexitle Mercury in Aquarius (25 deg)

  • Feb 9th: square the South Node in Capricorn/North Node in Cancer (26 deg)

  • Feb 13th: conjunct Uranus (29 deg)

  • Feb 13th: opposite Pallas in Libra (29 deg)

  • Feb 14th: Taurus ingress

Sagittarius Season With Jupiter

   Jehan Georges Vibert

Jehan Georges Vibert

Sagittarius season begins today (Nov 22nd) with the Sun’s ingress at 4:01 AM EST.

This is the season of hope, distant horizons, possibilities and expansion. And of course, this year Sagittarius will juiced up by the presence of Jupiter, at home in his sign. Jupiter will amplify Sag energy in general. Expect more enthusiasm, more opportunities and more optimistic beliefs (whether or not they’re realistic).

Sun Sagittarians with birthdays between November 22nd and November 26th/27th will benefit from a Sun/Jupiter conjunction. This energy will be part of your Solar Return year, which means some area of your life will be bursting with “more” – what can you do with this gift? Jupiter brings something/someone new that is (usually) beneficial. While Jupiter has been known to expand negative potentials, it’s really hard to go wrong with a Sun/Jupiter conjunction. That’s pure power, confidence and faith in the next big thing.

Jupiter is also about wisdom, so this Sag season could trigger new insight and knowledge. Keep your eyes and ears open.

Even if you don’t get this conjunction on your birthday (or if you’re not a Sun Sag) you can still do something with it (see the list below for exact date and degree). The Sun will illuminate the Sagittarius area in your chart and there could be a spot of luck, assistance, growth or a gift. Yes, Jupiter can brings gifts: you don’t have to work to earn Jupiter rewards, although if you want to make the most of them it’s always helpful to do more with what you’re given.

Or, maybe you want to celebrate. Sun/Jupiter can also mean massive enjoyment and sometimes you just want to enjoy what life has to offer.

Here are the aspects the Sagittarius Sun will make:

  • Nov 23rd: Full Moon (0 deg Gemini)

  • Nov 26th: conjunct Jupiter (3 deg)

  • Nov 27th: conjunct Mercury Rx (5 deg)

  • Dec 2nd: square Mars in Pisces (10 deg)

  • Dec 4th: sextile Pallas in Libra (12 deg)

  • Dec 5th: sextile Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (13 deg)

  • Dec 5th: square Neptune in Pisces (13 deg)

  • Dec 7th: New Moon (15 deg)

  • Dec 12th: inconjunct Juno Rx in Taurus (20 deg)

  • Dec 18th: inconjunct Cancer North Node (27 deg)

  • Dec 19th: square Chiron in Pisces (27 deg)

  • Dec 20th: trine Uranus Rx in Aries (28 deg)

  • Dec 21st: Capricorn ingress

Mars’ Transit of Pisces

   Howard Pyle

Howard Pyle

Mars enters Pisces today (November 15th) at 5:20 PM EST. After a long, retrograde induced sojourn of Aquarius, Mars is finally moving on.

You may feel this shift more significantly than most Mars transits, because Mars has been spending so much time in one area of your chart (the Aquarius section, along with the very end of Capricorn).

Mars in Pisces is indirect action. It’s drifting rather than pushing. Allowing rather than initiating. You cannot force anything in Pisces, so Mars can be a bit uncomfortable here. But it’s also a nice way to end the year – things will happen as they’re meant to, and all you have to do is be open to that. Do what you can, and let the rest take care of itself. There may be a release as the tension of the past few months dissolves. Sometimes the most you can “do” is let go.

Mars in Pisces (your actions) creates ripples, but you will have minimal control over what they’ll hit. The best you can do is ensure that your initial motivations and intentions are healthy. This also means taking care of yourself, because when Pisces is activated there is an increased risk for vulnerability. Mars in Pisces can drift down some questionable paths.

This is an excellent transit for creative work, meditation, relaxation and healing. Good for dreaming and drinking, so keep an eye on the indulgences this holiday season – Mars in Pisces can take you too far, especially with the upcoming square to Jupiter.

Here are the aspects Mars in Pisces will make:

  • Nov 19th: square Jupiter in Sagittarius (2 deg)

  • Nov 25th: trine Ceres in Scorpio (5 deg)

  • Nov 26th: square Mercury Rx in Sagittarius (6 deg)

  • Nov 27th: sextile Saturn in Capricorn (7 deg)

  • Dec 2nd: square Sun in Sagittarius (10 deg)

  • Dec 5th: inconjunct Pallas in Libra (12 deg)

  • Dec 7th: conjunct Neptune (13 deg)

  • Dec 17th: sextile Pluto in Capricorn (20 deg)

  • Dec 17th: sextile Juno Rx in Taurus (20 deg)

  • Dec 27th: trine the North Node in Cancer (26 deg)

  • Dec 29th: conjunct Chiron (28 deg)

  • Dec 31st: Aries ingress
