Scorpio Season

The Sun enters Scorpio on October 23rd at 3:29 PM EDT. Scorpio season is the time of depth, intensity, secrets, shadows and hidden resources. It’s when we are encouraged to look inwards for true power or do some soul-searching.

What Scorpio obscures in the shadows is often ugly and frightening. There are very few people with the courage and authenticity to dive into these issues and confront their own fears and taboos.

There can be rewards during this season, but they are not the typical rewards. If you’re prepared to dig into what’s hidden, you can uncover unexpected sources of power, intimacy, commitment or healing. But that means you must commit to going all the way and not shrink back when you come across something disagreeable. Again, what you’re most often confronting are your own issues: shadow work.

This season starts off with a supportive Waning Sextile from the Virgo Moon (to the Scorpio Sun) at 0° on October 23rd. Here is some gentle support as you descend into the underworld. The Waning Sextile encourages forward movement (by leaving the past behind). Virgo presents practical solutions and reassuring information-you’ll know what you have to do and what your next step is. You won’t be facing the Scorpio mysteries without a map.

Go forward, into the shadows.

The Sun exits Scorpio for Sagittarius on November 22nd.

Here are the aspects the Sun will make:

  • Oct 27th: New Moon 4 deg Scorpio (11:38 PM)

  • Nov 12th: Full Moon 19 deg Taurus (8:34 AM)

Mars Enters Libra

Mars enters Libra on October 4th (12:21 AM EDT). Mars is supposedly weak and its opposite sign, because Libra is ruled by Venus. And it can be difficult to take direct, assertive action during this transit since there is an increased emphasis on weighing the pros and cons (which can degenerate into waffling) and waiting to see what the other person wants rather than standing up for yourself.

Mars can also be terribly passive aggressive in this sign: anger is expressed with sugarcoated barbs or projected hostility. “Everything’s fine” is said through gritted teeth.

But I find that this can be a very, very competitive placement for Mars. Libra is a Cardinal sign, which means there’s a drive to be first. That drive maybe expressed with more strategy and refinement than Aries but never underestimate this energy. Relationships and social strategies will have an increased undertone of competitiveness during this transit-it’s not your imagination. Flirtation and sexual energy will seem sweet on the surface, but underneath there’s a carefully disguised urgency to win.

You can work with this by reading the room before you act. Watch for the social cues and listen to what your partner wants. Then, act accordingly or assert yourself with a bit of finesse. You you can be polite but firm rather than screaming (to express your anger). You’d be amazed at how effective you can be when you mix a bit of sugar with that fire.

This transit is also excellent for encouraging partners to work together in a more balanced manner. They do something for you, you do something for them and it’s win-win. It’s about strategy.

But since Libra is the sign of balance it is also the sign of imbalance. That means there can also be a risk of actions veering to extremes. Meaning, you do nothing and then become frustrated at your inaction and do something that sends the scales crashing to the floor. Or, you do everything for someone and they do nothing in return. Pay attention to those moments that trigger imbalances; this will tell you a lot about where your energy is best spent and where you should walk away. The ideal Mars in Libra efforts are poised and precise.

Mars enters Scorpio on November 19th.

Mercury’s Transit of Libra

Mercury enters Libra on September 14th at 3:14 AM EDT. Communication is focused on harmonious exchanges – what’s polite and socially acceptable. This is the transit of diplomacy and active listening: hear what the other person is saying and then respond accordingly, rather than focusing on what you’re going to say while they’re talking.

On the minus side, this transit can encourage the sugary gloss over uncomfortable subjects. Too, there can be unbalanced discussions and ideas that tip towards one extreme then tilt in the other direction. It may be difficult to get the real story amongst the back and forth. Also, keep an eye out for the projection and indirect communication- Mercury in Libra does not come out and ask/complain/insult directly. There’s a dance where the real issue is obscured behind the sweet words and you find yourself saying what the other person wanted to address (or vice versa). Or, you suspect there’s a barb hidden in the compliment but it’s so skillfully delivered that you’re not sure.

It’s always better to own your words, but during this transit you may find yourself caught up in confusing verbal hand offs and uneasy backhanded compliments.

The best use of this energy is to explore both sides of any discussion/idea, then find the midpoint – that sweet spot that integrates opposing ideas. This is Mercury in Libra’s real talent, and it’s not easy. But sometimes it’s essential to integrate the opposition.

Here are the aspects Mercury in Libra will make:

  • Sept 16th: opposite Chiron Rx in Aries (4 deg)

  • Sept 17th: inconjunct Uranus Rx in Taurus (6 deg)

  • Sept 20th: sextile Ceres in Sagittarius (11 deg)

  • Sept 22nd: square Saturn Rx in Capricorn (13 deg)

  • Sept 22nd: square the Nodes in Capricorn/Cancer (14 deg)

  • Sept 23rd: inconjunct Black Moon Lilith in Pisces (15 deg)

  • Sept 24th: inconjunct Neptune Rx in Pisces (16 deg)

  • Sept 24th: sextile Jupiter in Sagittarius (17 deg)

  • Sept 26th: square Pluto Rx in Capricorn (20 deg)

  • Oct 1st: inconjunct Vesta Rx in Taurus (27 deg)

  • Oct 3rd: Scorpio ingress

Venus’ Transit of Libra

Venus enters Libra on September 14th at 9:42 AM EDT. This is one of her home signs, so she is powerful here.

Libra is the sign of harmony, relationships and beauty, so some people mistakenly underestimate this combination. Social grace and relating are emphasized but many do not view these as strengths. And Venus in Libra can be co-dependent as she is primarily concerned with what the other wants. So there will be a lot of projection, flirting and “Whatever you want is fine with me.”

But this is not weak energy. Never forget that Libra is a Cardinal sign and Venus in Libra uses her charm and grace to skillfully and assertively appeal to others (without appearing to be assertive). Her talent is appealing to you and making you feel like you’re the only one in the room for that moment. She can become what she senses you want, all the while maintaining her detached view of the situation. Libra is an Air sign, so connections involve analysis. Venus in Libra is the beautiful strategist.

When this energy is distorted, connections can be superficial. At her worst, Venus in Libra wants to be someone’s partner for the sake of partnership (she really doesn’t like being alone). The idea of romance is exalted but the messy realities of relationships are avoided. She can be a social climber, focusing on appearance.

But at her best, Venus in Libra is the ultimate partner, sensing exactly what her lover wants and giving it to him/her without sacrificing her values or integrity. She understands that strategic compromise is an essential part of any partnership and being someone’s devoted partner does not make her weak. Her strength lies in her ability to be assertive (Cardinal) in a graceful way. Venus in Libra is just as competitive as Aries, but she competes in a way that others can’t detect (until she’s won). Some may call this sneaky (or passive- aggressive) but really she just knows how to get what she wants.

It’s easy to smack someone across the chops with your assertiveness but it takes skill to position yourself ahead of the pack in a way that’s undetectable and appealing.

During this transit, pay attention to what you want in the guise of what others have (they will reflect your desires). It’s all about the other, and jealousy/comparison/competition will be emphasized. Also, look at the balance between you and your partner – do you give each other what you want or is it one-sided? Do you know how to compromise or do you compromise to the point where others use you?

Here are the aspects Venus in Libra will make:

  • Sep 17th: opposite Chiron Rx in Aries (4 deg)

  • Sept 19th: inconjunct Uranus Rx in Taurus (6 deg)

  • Sept 24th: sextile Ceres in Sagittarius (11 deg)

  • Sept 25th: square Saturn in Capricorn (13 deg)

  • Sept 25th: square the Nodes in Capricorn/Cancer (14 deg)

  • Sept 27th: inconjunct Neptune Rx in Pisces (16 deg)

  • Sept 28th: sextile Jupiter in Sagittarius (17 deg)

  • Oct 1st: square Pluto Rx in Capricorn (20 deg)

  • Oct 6th: inconjunct Vesta Rx in Taurus (27 deg)

Virgo Season: The Best

pexels

The Sun enters Virgo on Aug 23rd at 6:01 AM EDT. The focus is on improvement, details and service. This is the season where you’re compelled to look at what’s wrong/missing and how that could be improved. But it’s also easy to remain stuck on what’s broken and ignore how it might be upgraded.

Virgo is the sign of service. This means (ideally) helping others without allowing yourself to become a slave/servant. Or, accepting help because you realize that someone has a more effective solution. “Service” is a difficult issue for many- some see it as a shameful thing and they look down on those who serve them (cashiers, waiters/waitresses, etc.) How you treat those who serve you says everything about the type of person you are. Others try to force their help on those who cannot be helped. It’s important to know when someone doesn’t want your assistance.

At its best, Virgo elevates mundane tasks – pride is taken in the precision of the work. The work becomes a thing of beauty that cuts through time and space like a laser, delivering exactly what’s needed at the perfect time. Details are elevated to something transcendent and the complexity of the thing that’s been built takes your breath away. Virgo specifics are the path to elevation and transcendence – God really is in the details. What you overlook can tear you down. What you focus on can raise you up.

Virgo is also about purity – focusing on the one issue and the best use of energy. Focusing on what’s healthiest. Virgo is self-contained, which applies to the concept of virginity. Sexual energy is not repressed. Instead, it’s reserved. Consider the difference. Do you waste your energy on those who don’t appreciate you? Or do you reserve yourself for those who understand your value?

Be selective and see what happens.

Here are the aspects the Virgo Sun will make:

  • Aug 28th: Sun inconjunct Chiron Rx in Aries (4 deg)

  • Aug 28th: square Ceres in Sagittarius (5 deg)

  • Aug 29th: Sun trine Uranus Rx in Taurus (6 deg)

  • Sep 2nd: Sun conjunct Mars (9 deg)

  • Sep 3rd: Sun conjunct Mercury (11 deg)

  • Sep 6th: Sun trine Saturn Rx in Capricorn (14 deg)

  • Sep 6th: opposite Black Moon Lilith in Pisces (14 deg)

  • Sep 8th: Sun square Jupiter in Sagittarius (14 deg)

  • Sep 8th: Sun trine Capricorn North Node (15 deg)

  • Sep 10th: Sun opposite Neptune Rx in Pisces (17 deg)

  • Sep 13th: Sun trine Pluto Rx in Capricorn (20 deg)

  • Sep 20th: trine Vesta in Taurus (27 deg)

  • Sep 23rd: Libra ingress

Venus’ Transit of Virgo

Photo by Matheus Bertelli from Pexels

Venus enters Virgo on August 21st at 5:06 AM EDT. Relationships, money, values and self-esteem are filtered through the lens of precision and service. This means an exacting standard around what you want, have and own, or (if distorted) an attitude of slavery regarding who you love and what you’re worth.

This transit will hi-light the specifics of what you want – what’s missing and what could be better. This is excellent for self-improvement but it can also lead to picking away at your self-worth until there’s nothing left. The focus on flaws must be balanced with the drive to improve. Change the recording from “I’m worthless” to “I’m worth the upgrade.”

Venus in Virgo wants you to get real about love and resources. This entails looking at the specifics (the truth) of what’s working and what isn’t. If what you have/love isn’t working, this will not be a happy transit. But if you can see beyond the “failure” to the opportunity to make it better, this is can be the moment you grab the Virgo scythe and cut through the wasteful people/situations that are preventing you from being your best.

If you’re into helping others, this transit can be about love through service. It’s tricky energy because it can quickly tip over into slavery. But with proper boundaries and self-awareness (your self-worth is not defined by what you do for others) this can be a time where you experience the love and happiness that comes from simply making someone’s life bette: no applause ,no congrats. There’s nothing in it for you – you’re helping them and that’s it but that’s enough. Again, be careful -some will take advantage of this and if your values are weak you’ll fall victim to the belief that you’re only worth what you can do for others.

Overall, I see this as a transit of focus. Virgo is about specifics, so this is an opportunity to focus on what you really want and what really makes you happy, with an injection of realism.

BTW, Virgo is associated with pets, so those with Venus in Virgo tend to have an affinity with domesticated dogs and cats (or gerbils, guinea pigs, etc). Love is expressed with worried nurturing and obsessive care. This can also extend to human pets *ahem* partners – the fussing/control issues are a way of expressing love. If your partner has Venus in Virgo this doesn’t mean that they view you as a pet, but they do see you as a work in progress and their ultimate responsibility.

Here are the aspects Venus in Virgo will make:

  • Aug 24th: conjunct Mars (4 deg)

  • Aug 24th: square Ceres in Sagittarius (4 deg)

  • Aug 25th: inconjunct Chiron Rx in Aries (5 deg)

  • Aug 26th: trine Uranus Rx in Taurus (6 deg)

  • Sept 1st: trine Saturn Rx in Capricorn (14 deg)

  • Sept 2nd: square Jupiter Rx in Capricorn (15 deg)

  • Sept 3rd: trine South Node in Capricorn (16 deg)

  • Sept 4th: opposite Neptune Rx in Pisces (17 deg)

  • Sept 6th: trine Pluto Rx in Capricorn (20 deg)

  • Sept 12th: trine Vesta in Taurus (27 deg0

  • Sept 13th: conjunct Mercury (28 deg)

  • Sept 14th: Libra ingress
