October 20: Mercury Bids Farewell to Libra with a Kiss to Neptune and Chiron
The ongoing theme this week seems to be compassion, and today Mercury picks up this tune and spins it with his own variation. Through a healing trine with Neptune and Chiron (each retrograde in Aquarius), Mercury asks us to consider opening our hearts to those who need healing and compassion. It’s Mercury’s parting gift as he prepares to exit Libra. Still, sitting as he is on Libra’s final degree, Mercury wavers – as do we in turn. Do we go forward or back? It’s as if the mind needs clarity once and for all: what is my role in contributing to the greater good? But it’s the follow-through that counts. With that in mind, Mars trines the Moon in her final degrees of sympathetic Pisces, along with Jupiter retrograde and Uranus retrograde (the higher octave of Mercury). Mars ups the ante from Mercury’s what will you give? to I give my energy to promote a brighter future for all.
Tomorrow Mercury will dip his winged sandals into Scorpio’s still but deep waters, where his role as Guide of Souls becomes more prominent. In the meantime, today’s flowing energy is an inspiration to writers and dreamers, as well as mentors and healers.
