Since Sunday is governed by the Sun, let’s see what the planets are up to, with an emphasis on the star of our solar system.
October 24: Sun in Scorpio
The Sun has now left Libra for a year, and shines his Light into Scorpio’s shadowy realm. He is met there by Mercury, Venus retrograde and Mars (the classical ruler of Scorpio). Is this a party or a wake? Scorpio energy is largely concerned with death and transformation. And that’s where our heads will be at for the next four weeks: looking at what needs to die in our lives in order to be re-born to something that functions in a healthy and wholistic manner. This could be a relationship, or it could be an ongoing situation in your life that needs to be changed or else eradicated altogether. As if to emphasize this, the Sun reaches out to Pluto, Scorpio’s modern ruler, and Lord of the Underworld. Get ready for a voyage down the River Styx.
Scorpio’s energy is dark and brooding, but with good reason – for, ultimately the prize for the deep inner work that Scorpio calls for is salvation. Salvation means so many different things to many people. For me it means allowing something akin to grace or love to move into those spaces where I need to give up the illusion of control – and let’s face it: control is a major Scorpio button.
There’s a beautiful line from Alexi Murdoch’s, Orange Sky that leaps out at me: “My salvation lies in your love.” I believe that Love is at the root of everyone’s salvation. Namaste.
