Since Sunday is governed by the Sun, let’s see what the planets are up to, with an emphasis on the star of our solar system.
October 31: Sun in Scorpio – How Deep Is Your Bowl?
Now that the Sun has moved into Scorpio, our souls are becoming attuned to depth – for such is the energy of Scorpio. Wherever you have Scorpio in your birth chart points to an area of life where you require experiences that are deep or intense. The Sun has pulled away from Libra, and compromise is no longer an option – at least not in the area of your chart that contains Scorpio. Picking up on yesterday’s metaphor about the bowl pattern currently in the skies, you might well inquire just how deep your bowl is. (Let’s say the bowl is a metaphor for your life, or some particular aspect of your life. Or let’s say it’s the bowl you capture all of your Halloween treats in.) It’s a worthy question, with three planets lined up in Scorpio.
The Sun is flanked by Mercury and Venus retrograde. This is your chance to re-evaluate the strength and depth of your values (Venus retrograde), and to allow for a deeper than usual self-inquiry (Mercury). Sometimes that can be an uncomfortable process, for the Sun shines light on those aspects of ourselves that we generally shun. Scorpio energy resonates with issues that a lot of folks would label ‘not nice.’ If Saturn in Libra is about ‘making nice,’ Sun in Scorpio is about daring to examine the not nice stuff floating around your psyche. If it has a taboo quality, it’s probably Scorpio talking.
Some tend to shy away from doing that kind of inner work when they brush up against those darker undercurrents. The irony is that there’s fertile soil there – something profoundly beautiful may grow out of that swampland that Scorpio resembles. So feel free to don your gardening gloves and dig into those issues that gnaw away at you. Dig up the weeds. Dig deep into the bowl. It’s okay that you’re not perfect! “There is a crack in everything; That’s how the light gets in.” (Anthem, Leonard Cohen)
