This is the seventh post in my Sunday series entitled The Risen Sun. It incorporates some of the messages from the service I attend at Eastminster United Church. If you attend a place of worship and also note the inevitable symmetry between the service’s focus and the current cosmic energy, I would love to hear your story or comment.
Here we are in the heart of Scorpio season, a time when our minds naturally ponder the mysteries of death. The Scorpio Sun is flanked by Mercury and Venus retrograde, attuning us to the transformation that ultimately occurs upon death – be it the death of the body, or the death of those circumstances that undermine our salvation. It’s also Halloween, and we are in touch with energies from the spirit realm, some of whom may even be our ancestors. It’s the one day of the year when haunting is something to revel in.
I found this morning’s opening prayer particularly descriptive of the current Cosmos. Perhaps you will find it a fitting meditation:
God of renewal and new life,
We offer to you our dry tired bones, our wandering spirits, our excitement tinged with fear.
You invite us to a new beginning, to release past hurts that haunt us.
You breathe your spirit upon us and we are transformed.
May our lives reflect thanksgiving for your good gifts.
Amen.
