Astrology of Now: Sober Moon

Although this moon rides high, luscious and fulsome in the midsummer, it’s not bound to take us away from our connection to the earth. Indeed this, rather sombre Moontide, is all about feeling grounded. The Moon is in Capricorn and she conjoins old sobersides Saturn himself. Saturn has a sense of humour — dry — but he’s not about to break out the maracas and dance a fandango. And he won’t expect Lady Luna to do so either. Instead, he reminds her of her — and our — deep connection to nature. Lie on the ground this Full Moon and see […]

Mars Dreaming

Mars turns retrograde today at 9° Aquarius. The planet of war will douse his firebrands for a while and may turn his passions inwards. Today, he is tightly conjoining that mysterious South Node of the Moon — a place of dissolution and dissipation. It’s time to lay down our arms and let go of anger, rivalry and aggression. Mars will be retrograde until August 27.

9 Things To Do While The Sun Is In Cancer

Sun in Cancer June 21- July 21 With the Sun in watery emotional Cancer, the general mood shifts from chatty, friendly Gemini to a more emotional, intuitive vibe. Here are some ways to be at one with the tempo of the times. Get on, in or at least near the water. It’s not just the Sun that’s in a water sign this year. The Zodiac is drenched. The Sun will form part of a water Grand Trine that includes Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces. If you can’t go for a swim, take plenty of baths or showers. It […]

Solstice: All Yellow

Happy Solstice to you! May the Sun shine brightly on all your endeavours. In astrology, associations often depend on your source. Yellow, for example, is attributed to Mercury, Venus or the Sun; Virgo, Leo, Gemini (a yellowish green), Libra or Aquarius — depending on which book you pull off your shelf. There’s a table of Western colour attribution by planet and sign over at Skyscript, showing how astrologers have had wildly different ideas on the subject. One thing is certain though — colour is important to our psyches. “Colour is a power which directly influences the soul. Colour is the keyboard, […]

Kim Kardashian and the Plutocrat President

When two reality TV stars meet in the Oval Office behind the big desk, you know the world is topsy-turvy. Well, we are where we are… and here at The OA we love a great picture. The official White House photographer(s) just keep on giving… What’s also interesting is that this week, Donald Trump did exactly what Ms. Kardashian had asked him to do on this occasion, and pardoned Alice Johnson, a 63-year-old black grandma serving a life sentence for a first offence drug crime.  So Kardashian’s trip to the Oval Office was a success. Clearly, she read the president […]

Bankrolled by Moscow? Arron Banks Natal Chart

The smug and squishy features of one Arron Banks, the millionaire who bankrolled the campaign to leave the EU last year, are all over the British newspapers today. Why? Because he’s been shown to be a world class liar. He said he’d met some Russians a few times but it turns out he was deep in a Russian bear hug. The implication is that he could possibly have been the conduit for Russian funds into the Leave campaign, which tipped the balance of last year’s referendum. Whether he’s a traitor remains to be proved by the police, but he’s certainly […]

Imagination and Curiosity

Was there ever a more Gemini image than this one. Twins reading on a moving train? This painting was made during the last tour by Neptune, the planet of the imagination, through Pisces, his own sign. Neptune is, of course, currently in Pisces also, and there are some obvious parallels between that time and this, which we can see depicted here. Have you been on public transport recently? These days, people peer into phones not books so much; they watch whole movies, or music videos, or TED talks. They dive deep into other worlds, through the medium of a tiny […]

Mutti, the Wunderkind and the Naughty Chair

This extraordinary photograph taken at the G7 summit was released today by the office of Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany. It kind of says it all — and it’s a great composition too. From the right by Sun sign: Trump (Gemini, eternal child), Bolton (Scorpio, grand vizier/power behind the throne), Abe (Virgo, meticulous pragmatist), Merkel (Cancer, Mutti), Macron (Sag, internationalist wunderkind), May (Libra, equivocator), Kudlow (Leo, roar). Not sure who the men flanking Abe are…
