11 Things To Do While The Sun’s in Gemini

Gemini season is upon us at last. A time, here in the Northern hemisphere, when thoughts turn to the seaside, summer, the open road. This year that Gemini feel is just a little bit stronger, since lithe Mercury, Gemini’s ruler, and the Sun jump into the sign hand in hand, and Mercury will be here until June 4. Why not engage with that Gemini vibe — even if you’re a deep-dyed Scorpio, or a caustic Capricorn? So here are some suggestions to get you started. Remember: fun, wit and feather are Gemini words. Text, email, phone your siblings. You never know, […]

Your Month Ahead Podcast: May 21-June 21

This month’s podcast was recorded while Mars was still in Gemini, hence the rather breathless pace! There’s lots to talk about and ponder. Questions such as, “What do these tennis players have in common?” and “What’s the incredibly loud sound in the background?” are both asked and answered. Tune in to hear about your month ahead and more about the sign of the Twins. Since this was recorded in the beauteous surroundings of the Chelsea Physic Garden, here are some pictures I took on the day for you to enjoy while you listen.

America’s Pluto Transit: The Ravaging

A few weeks ago, The New York Times carried an editorial by Charles Blow, which begins like this: “America, as we knew it, is lost. “Not completely gone and not irrevocably ended, but forever altered. Or, maybe it is fair to say that our concept of America itself was a concoction, that it was always one solid body blow away from buckling at the knees.” And here is the penultimate paragraph. “I am saying…that the best time to truly rebuild a thing is when it has been destroyed, when the slate is clear and people are champing for change.” He […]

Sexy Talk on the Passionfruit Podcast

Last week, the brilliant, funny women at Passionfruit Podcast interviewed me. It was a hoot but if you don’t want to hear an explicit discussion of sex, skip this one. On the other hand, if you’re unlikely to be fazed by women talking dirty, have a listen. I, of course, offered astrological wisdom during the podcast, rather than sex counselling. Always eager to bring some real astrology to a new audience! It did occur to me though, since I also happen to be reading André Aciman’s Enigma Variations, that there’s a lot of sex-verbiage in my world at the moment. […]

Thinking Aloud: A Stroll Around the Bodleian

Just thinking aloud while walking around Oxford, reflecting on how ideas are categorised.
Of course, the Bodleian Library has one of the greatest collections of books on magic, alchemy and astrology.
Enjoy!

Greta Thunberg, One of the Wise Children

“Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, And though they are with you yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward […]

Karl, the Cat and Jacques de Bascher

The fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld — wizard, shape-shifter, and, as he put it himself, vampire — died in February, leaving a fortune to his gorgeous pet, Choupette, the most famous cat on Instagram. Lagerfeld showed all the signs of being a kind of ultra-Uranian from the top of his super-white hair (kept that why by the application of Klorane dry shampoo) to the soles of his pointy boots.  “I was born to live alone. Who cares?” — KL Indeed, it would not surprise me if if he had Uranus Rising, but we shall never know. For years, he lied about […]

Notre Dame: She Will Rise Again

Notre Dame, the great church of Our Lady in the heart of Paris, at the sharp end of the Ile de la Cité, burned spectacularly last night. One of her spires pointed a flaming finger at the sky. She crackled, she roared. But today she’s still standing. The images were shocking, of course. Yet my take-away from this event was not doomy or gloomy, but a feeling of hope. The great cathedral, a wondrous monument to human endeavour, faith and imagination, built by teams of people over centuries, had survived a potentially devastating fire — thanks to teams of our […]
