Venus and Lilith

Another intense day, as Venus perfects the second of three squares with BML in Aquarius.

I wrote the following about the first square on September 16th:

Venus’ square to Lilith brings another crisis. Venus in Scorpio is dark and intense, but Scorpio’s shadows manifest in the familiar guise of female energy – Venus attracts and is about relationships. In Scorpio, she draws people in so she can get as close as possible. Lilith in Aquarius couldn’t care less about relationships. She’s out there on her own, blazing her own path, offending or unnerving most people. If she does attract someone they’re usually drawn to the truly atypical, independent lady who doesn’t want to attract them in the first place.

When these two square each other, you may experience the clash between merging and repulsing, or the desire for complete intimacy versus complete distance. These are two different types of female power – absorption of the partner’s resources (and in some cases, the partner) versus zero need for a partner.”

These issues will be revisited, but now that Venus is Rx there will be a review of why you want to merge, if merging is possible or if there are deeper reasons behind the tension between intimacy versus rebellion. Between staying hidden/secret versus putting it out there. Venus Rx in Scorpio can reveal the secrets/taboos that are driving BML’s anger or rejection.

Pluto and Ceres

Continuing today’s heavy theme, Pluto (ruler of Scorpio) perfects his square with the Great Mother (Ceres). A specific theme from the October 8th New Moon will reach an intense peak:

“Ceres is about the cycle of nurturing and loss – a square to Pluto is the crisis of loss (the threat of loss). So this new beginning will undoubtedly be intense, because it will involve an amplified desire to hang onto someone/something, due to the real or perceived threat of loss. In Libra, we see a distinct imbalance – one person does all the nurturing. This could be due to a partner’s illness (the imbalance cannot be avoided) or obsessive smothering of a desired object. Ceres square Pluto is the devouring Great Mother whose power lies in her ability to feed and starve. At the root of her power is her fear of losing what she loves.

These dynamics can play out in different ways. Because Libra is involved, there’s always projection to consider. Who really has the power? Under these aspects, the person who feels compelled to offer care may have an agenda.”

The issues of loss, control and what must be accepted in a difficult agreement will be emphasized. In the Ceres myth, she made a deal with Pluto that allowed Persephone (her daughter) to spend part of the year above ground with her (after Pluto abducted her). Not the perfect agreement (Ceres had to accept that Persephone was not with her all the time) and it required her acceptance of what she could not control. But she still got some of what she wanted.

Consider how this might apply to your life, and in the context of the New Moon.

The energy that ties these aspects together is Scorpio/Pluto. The raw truth behind the scenes and the confrontation with shadow issues (manipulation, control, fear of death/loss, the unspoken fight for survival). If it feels like there’s more at stake today, consider what you’re not openly acknowledging. And then, consider if what’s happening is really a fight for survival or if you’re operating on outdated programs. There’s probably something today that you can’t fully control and this fact may threaten you.

What’s the worst that could happen if you acknowledged what’s beyond your control?

October 16th, 2018: First Quarter Square

  • First Quarter Square between the Capricorn Moon and Libra Sun (23 deg)

  • Mercury in Scorpio sextile Vesta in Capricorn (9 deg)

Moving forward from the issues of loss, transformation and rebirth during the October 8th New Moon, the First Quarter Square challenges you to activate boundaries and responsibilities around these events.

It may be time to put your foot down or play by the rules- an exchange (Libra) will remain unbalanced until you do so. It may be easier to play nice or be passive, but the Capricorn Moon demands some adult energy. You can be fair but firm.

This square activates the other side of the parenting energy of the New Moon, which conjoined Ceres (mother’s nurturing). Capricorn is associated with the father, so any mother/child issues can be balanced out. Consider if you need to become the parent, or become your own parent. What do you need to define, shoulder or refuse? What are the parameters of the agreement that came about during the New Moon?

The new and uncomfortable responsibilities will push you forward.

Mercury/Vesta can help, with a nudge of quiet focus. Here is the serious conversation or piece of information – there’s something below the surface to consider (a secret or deep truth) and it’s asking for your complete attention. It should feel natural and easy to do this, although the gentleness of the sextile means it won’t demand that you look at it. But there could be something helpful that can show you the way through the First Quarter Square.

  • Mercury in Scorpio square Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (7 deg)

  • Venus Rx in Scorpio sextile Vesta in Capricorn (9 deg)

Mercury/Black Moon Lilith

Mercury/BML suggests Scorpio’s secrets or taboo truths conflict with BML in Aquarius’ radical lady. While Lilith herself is about the taboo (and unpalatable truths), in this case, what’s spoken or understood about her will be discordant. Perhaps too much is revealed about a Lilith issue. Or, perhaps a BML-type person speaks her truth and it comes across as too heavy or too horrific.

Yes, BML’s energy can naturally be “too much” under the best of circumstances, but when she makes a hard aspect to Mercury, her message is extra challenging. Keep this in mind if you’re thinking of communicating things that others don’t want to hear – this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t, only that you should be aware of today’s energies.

Venus/Vesta

Venus Rx in harmony with Vesta might smooth things out a bit, or least remind you of what’s most important.

An area of Venus- themed (money, relationships, self-esteem) investigation or review will be enhanced by Vesta’s strict (Capricorn) focus. You can zero in what really matters while tuning out the white noise of social discord or disapproving chatter. Venus’ energy is elevated and Scorpio’s darkness becomes the sacrament – Vesta (the temple) is about purity of intent, so you can consider what boundaries or rules (Capricorn) should be applied to what matters most. Do you treat yourself and your resources (financial and emotional) like they are sacred? Only a select few are allowed to enter the temple.

Remember that when Scorpio’s energy is used correctly, it too is quite selective. Only those who respect the power and enhance chances of survival/evolution are allowed to get close.

October 12th, 2018: Stay Calm

  • Libra Sun square Pluto in Capricorn (18 deg)

  • Mercury in Scorpio sextile Saturn in Capricorn (3 deg)

  • Juno stations retrograde in Gemini (0 deg)

Sun/Pluto

We see themes from the October 8th New Moon in the square between Pluto and the Libra Sun. Sun/Pluto is an aspect of power, but the tension of the square means it’s expressed discordantly. There is an intensified push for control/dominance based on the fear of being controlled/dominated. You may experience this as an extreme imbalance between you and another (one person has all the power).

In Libra, the surface vibe may be quite polite and “nice” but Pluto’s shadow suggests something darker behind the scenes. Watch for passive-aggressive or indirect expressions of power. If the situation feels “off” you’re not just imagining it. Consider where the anxiety might be coming from and if there’s any way you can correct that imbalance.

Mercury/Saturn

Mercury is nicely stabilized by Saturn. Conversations and realizations will be quiet and serious. Nothing dramatic here, just the certainty that you can rely on what you discover or hear. Saturn’s rules/focus can help you stay grounded if there’s a risk of becoming overwhelmed by the depth of Scorpio-flavoured information.

This aspect can help with the crisis of the Sun/Pluto square – stay calm, focus on what you’re uncovering or what feels deeply honest.

Juno

Mercury rules Gemini, and this is where Juno Rx is. As noted in this post, Juno (agreements, contracts) has only recently entered the sign of choices and new information. New agreements or partnership choices are being questioned already, but Mercury/Saturn suggests a calm, rational approach even as you peer underneath.

This takes us back to Sun/Pluto: Libra is the sign of relationships, so there’s hint that the power crisis will be connected to Juno’s Rx (questioning the new agreement).

  • Mercury in Scorpio square the Nodes in Leo/Aquarius (2 deg)

  • Pluto in Capricorn trine Pallas in Virgo (18 deg)

Mercury squaring the Nodes suggests a key messenger or message. This piece of intel, conversation or realization will emerge from the depths and put you on notice that it’s time to step away from the past and move forward.

The Aquarius South Node represents an issue whose time has come. You’ve been here before, perhaps dealing with alienation, detachment or trauma. Mercury has something to tell you about this and it may involve a deeply honest look at what you didn’t want to admit. But it’s also your solution – here are the facts that can help you step into the light towards a place of pride, creativity, joy and appreciation for who you are (Leo North Node).

What can also help…Pluto/Pallas presents sharp strategies that are quiet but incredibly effective. Pallas in Virgo is about practical details/patterns that work and Pluto (ruler of Scorpio) intensifies them. Here is a solution that’s not dramatic, but it’s solid and very, very powerful. This is the plan that cuts through the extras – it’s clean, lean and every detail has an impact.

October 7th, 2018: Selfless Nurturing or Sacrifice?

  • Sun in Libra conjunct Ceres, inconjunct Neptune Rx in Pisces (14 deg)

Referring to tomorrow’s New Moon, the Sun/Libra conjunction hi-lights the give and take of nurturing. This will be in a one-on-one context, with the ultimate expression of nurturing as a balanced exchange. Something is blooming here.

However, the inconjunct to Neptune is a reminder that ego is not part of this picture. Yes, sometimes nurturing can be expected or given with strings attached, but in this case the expression should be selfless. At the same time, there can be confusion about who gives what and where to draw the line between care and sacrifice. It may be difficult to achieve that balance, so make sure you and anyone else involved are completely clear on the terms of this exchange.

  • Gemini Moon trine Mars in Aquarius (5 deg)

  • Gemini Moon trine Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (6 deg)

  • Gemini Moon trine Libra Sun (Waning Trine- 6 deg)

  • Juno enters Gemini

Speak Out

A Waning Trine between the Gemini Moon and Libra Sun includes a trine to Mars and Lilith in Aquarius, creating a Grand Air Trine (a smooth circuit of energy). Information (Gemini) is shared in a social context and accepted by others (but probably not everyone). This involves BML themes of women’s power, anger/violence and controversial sexual issues – the woman who stands out and says what many don’t want to hear.

At this moment, her passionate words and anger have a social outlet. Note that Aquarius is the group and Libra is one-on-one. Her words come out naturally (a hallmark of the trine). Now is the time – good if you want to speak about something (especially a relationship issue) that wouldn’t normally be accepted.

Juno

Juno into Gemini hi-lights flexible partnership agreements. More than one choice is key and fast-moving communication becomes essential. This is not the time to keep silent, and new agreements could manifest. Juno in Gemini urges you to exchange thoughts with another – the essence of the contract is a constant influx of fresh ideas that are shared.

However, Juno will station Rx at 0 deg Gemini on Oct 12th, returning to Taurus on Oct 24th. So right out of the gate there will be reasons to question new choices/ideas. The retreat into Taurus suggests a reevaluation of the basics of the partnership: ground yourself in what you already know before adding anything else.

Juno will station direct on Dec 23rd (at 20 deg) and will return to Gemini on Feb 10th, 2019. This is when you can confidently move forward with what you and another have discussed. Before this date, assume that there will be backtracking, questions and the exposure of additional layers.

Juno will exit Gemini for Cancer on Apr 20th, 2019.

September 28th, 2018: Chiron Rx in Pisces Sextile Juno

  • Chiron Rx in Pisces sextile Juno in Taurus (29 deg)

Chiron’s return to Pisces is bolstered by a hopeful aspect to Juno. Going back to what hurts can involve a solid agreement. Here is quiet support from a partner who has your back, or empathizes with you. There may be no words – just an understanding.

Excellent if you’re trying to heal a relationship, but don’t look for anything dramatic – this aspect depends on a mutual understanding that some things simply need to be released.

This aspect will repeat on November 3rd (at 28 deg) when Juno is Rx, so the process will not be a quick one. Watch for slow, gentle healing and patient acceptance.

September 27th, 2018: Balance

  • Moon in Taurus inconjunct Sun in Libra (Waning Inconjunct-4 deg)

  • Sun in Libra trine Mars and the South Node in Aquarius (4 deg)

  • Mercury in Libra conjunct Ceres (9 deg)

  • Saturn in Capricorn conjunct Vesta (2 deg)

Waning Inconjunct

The Waning Inconjunct calls for an adjustment to Monday’s Full Moon in Aries. After that challenging culmination, the inconjunct asks you to ground yourself in the moment. Pause, and remind yourself of what you have right now. There may be an urge to keep compromising or comparing, and while you can’t forget about the balance between you and them, it’s important to stabilize yourself. Take stock of your current resources.

Along with the Waning Inconjunct, the Sun’s trines to Mars and the South Node extend the vibe from yesterday’s Mars/South Node conjunction by energizing that issue (from the past) that’s reached a turning point. The goodbye or moment of liberation will be enabled by your social awareness. This is all about relationship dynamics – what needs to be left behind and what you can build on. Use the inconjunct as a reminder of what’s best for you in this situation.

The Taurus Moon will square Mars and the Nodes, which adds extra emphasis to that issue of personal values, resources or security. It will be challenging to remind yourself of what you have and what’s best for you (there may be resistance from others) but that’s exactly what you must do. Your awareness of what you stand for is essential in achieving an effective balance with others.

Nurturing Words

Mercury/Ceres suggests a truly nurturing conversation where one person listens and the other vents. Or, where there’s an equal exchange of caring words. Excellent for any kind of discussion with a counselling vibe, but remember that Libra is an Air sign. This means objectivity. It’s not about intense revelations and intimate confessions – Mercury in Libra can be receptive to anything as long as the delivery is light and there’s room to step back and process what’s being shared.

Absolute Focus

Saturn/Vesta cranks up the focus on a rule, tradition or limit. Vesta’s devotion to an issue is severely defined by Saturn – there’s a sense of unshakable commitment or unblinking concentration. This can be positive or negative, depending on what the focus is.

  • Sun in Libra square Vesta and Saturn in Capricorn (2 deg)

  • Chiron Rx re- enters Pisces

Vesta/Saturn

Vesta’s focus and Saturn’s limits indicate a hard point. There’s an area that’s demanding your absolute attention, and the responsibilities associated with it will be quite rigid. The square to the Libra Sun suggests this may feel unfair and unbalanced, with restrictions on certain social connections. Perhaps there are some relationship rules that must be obeyed.

You can’t fight Saturn – sometimes you just have to go along with program. Nonetheless, remember that Vesta’s focus can become so extreme that you lose sight of everything else. If you can, take a moment and step back from the relationship issue; it’s possible that your extreme concentration is tipping the balance in a certain direction.

This aspect is connected to yesterday’s Full Moon.

Chiron

Chiron’s return to Pisces is a reminder that you can still forgive or say goodbye. Even as you revisit a wound from April 2018, this time it’s about easing away those last bits of discomfort. The wound won’t vanish, but you’re being given a chance to accept a loss or area of pain. The acceptance is for you (not them) – you can’t move forward if you hang onto bitterness or rage. You can’t move forward if you refuse to acknowledge that it hurts.

Chiron in Pisces is a chance to temporarily retreat from Chiron in Aries’ fight. You’re shifting gears, maybe pulling back to take a breath. As you pull back, remember to let go.

Chiron will re-enter Aries on February 18th, 2019 and the new battle/new expression of courage will start up again.
