December 28th, 2018: The Whole Relationship

  • Venus in Scorpio opposite Juno in Taurus (20 deg)

  • Venus in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn (20 deg)

  • Pluto in Capricorn square Pallas in Libra (20 deg)

  • Pallas in Libra inconjunct Juno in Taurus (20 deg)

An interesting mix of influences today involving Pluto and Venus.

Venus opposite Juno suggests challenges, projections or endings involving a set relationship agreement (Juno) versus intense expressions of love or desire (Venus). What one partner wants may be at odds with the commitment/agreement. Venus rules Taurus, but in Scorpio her energy pushes past Taurus’ limits and demands more extreme expressions. Money and/or love could be an issue. Perhaps one partner wants something deeper, or is projecting their own secrets/obsessions onto a union.

However, Pluto (ruler of Scorpio) makes a supportive sextile to Venus, and Pluto is just moving away from a trine with Juno. So what’s happening is part of a necessary transformation. A new relationship is emerging and the strength of what’s developing will push both partners to look at what lies beneath their commitment.

Pluto makes a tricky square to Pallas in Venus-ruled Libra, suggesting these changes will challenge superficial (Libra) relationship strategies. There may be a social power struggle: a passive-aggressive battle. Pallas in Libra is about keeping it nice and balanced, at all costs – strategic politeness. While it’s important to not allow things to devolve, simply focusing on keeping it nice will not be enough. This is about keeping it real, and Pallas’ inconjunct to Juno indicates tension between social niceties versus the basics of the agreement.

There are three angles here – the social surface, the deeper undercurrents and the material/physical reality of the commitment. All three make up the complete relationship.

  • Venus conjunct Ceres in Scorpio (19 deg)

  • Mars in Pisces trine North Node in Cancer (26 deg)

Venus/Ceres

Venus/Ceres combines love with nurturing. In the sign of Scorpio, this combination is intensified to an extreme- nurturing and complete love that push the limits.

Since Ceres is also about the cycle of nurturing and loss, this conjunction can suggest loving courageously in the face of loss, or dealing with the fear of loss. Scorpio always has undertones of survival and uncovering hidden resources, so you may find that you access deep wells of strength and abundance you didn’t realize were there.

Whether this involves the nurturing of self or others, this is where you have to dig deep and commit absolutely to what you want or love.

Mars/North Node

Mars trine the North Node activates the path forward (towards emotional sustainability) with fluid/creative actions. This is about stepping towards something that feels (Cancer) authentic, but there’s an intuitive energy- go where it feels most natural and allow your actions to unfold rather than forcing anything. And this could also mean moving towards something that makes you feel vulnerable.

  • Mercury conjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius (9 deg)

  • Mercury/Jupiter in Sagittarius sextile Vesta in Aquarius (9 deg)

  • Venus in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces (13 deg)

A day for more, with energies that encourage you to rise above anything petty or restrictive. Note that these influences are given extra oomph by today’s Winter Solstice (the Sun’s Capricorn ingress).

Mercury/Jupiter

Mercury/Jupiter can be a high point for wisdom, insight, the sales pitch or good news. Mercury’s info and communication are expanded by Jupiter, blending facts with ideals and details with optimism.

Excellent for learning, delivering a message (especially one that features new information) or seeing the whole story along with the details. This is all powered up by Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius, for extra expansion. This conjunction previously occurred on November 27th (at 4 deg) when Mercury was Rx. At that time, you may have encountered the same issue but had to deal with questions or delays. Now the questions have been answered and the delay has been lifted – you can surge ahead with what you know.

Note the sextile to Vesta (devotion) which adds focus on an unusual or innovative (Aquarius) area. This can truly be a moment where you break through a mental/verbal barrier or experience a leap of understanding.

Venus/Neptune

Venus/Neptune continues the theme of openness, as relationships/money/self-esteem/values harmonize with Neptune’s compassion and dreams. What you want/love has depth (Scorpio) and transcendence (Neptune) for an intensely romantic, creative or giving influence. There’s more of what you want to go around, although it’s not all about you (and you’ll be fine with that). Neptune increases Venus in Scorpio’s flow of love/value/desire while adding a touch of refined creativity or selflessness – the trine gives it a natural flow (what you want or want to give will unfold easily, if it’s meant to be).

In certain cases, if this energy is distorted, Neptune might enable the slide into something addictive or unhealthy (you want it even though it’s bad for you). Use the Mercury/Jupiter conjunction to get a full understanding of what’s going on – there will be no excuses.

December 17th, 2018: Day of Empowerment

  • Waxing Trine between the Aries Moon and Sagittarius Sun (26 deg)

  • Mars in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn (20 deg)

  • Mars in Pisces sextile Juno Rx in Taurus (20 deg)

Aries courage and force blends with Sagittarius’ expansive outlook for a gutsy, optimistic vibe. This is the time to roll forward – there should be a path of least resistance and a natural flow of adventure that encourages you to go for it. Great for starting something that requires extra energy.

Fortunately, you’ve also got a Mars/Pluto sextle happening. Mars (ruler of Aries) is empowered by Pluto so there’s extra force behind those actions. But Mars in Pisces flows rather than pushes and – intuitive effort can make a huge impact. Try stepping back and watching what unfolds, then act on that, rather than trying to control events. Loosening your grip can actually intensify your efforts.

Mars also makes a sextile to Juno Rx so we know the above involves a relationship (business or personal) agreement. Right now it’s under review and Mars’ sextile activates energetic progress. You’re not just sitting and pondering the terms of the agreement, you and another are taking action to revise it.

Note that Juno will trine Pluto two times:

  • Dec 23rd (Juno Rx)

  • Dec 31st (Juno direct)

Juno/Pluto is the profound commitment that harmonizes with slow change and empowers both parties as it evolves. The process has started now (the trine is within orb) and the Mars sextile suggests following the route of intuitive action to make it happen. Don’t force it – go with what’s unfolding and drift forward. It may not seem like you’re making progress but trust that you are.

Agreements that are in the works today can see lucrative, constructive developments.

December 15th, 2018: A Test of Faith

  • First Quarter Square between the Pisces Moon and Sagittarius Sun (23 deg)

  • Ceres in Scorpio square Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (14 deg)

The First Quarter Square can raise difficult issues as belief clashes with faith and disillusionment undermines trust. The Sag Sun is about striving for the future where there’s hope but the Pisces Moon can trigger loss of momentum or questions about what’s real/true.

And yet, the crisis of this square demands action- you have to move forward while altering your course based on the questions that come up.

Adding to the tension, Ceres/Lilith pits the Great Mother against the Witch/Outsider. Ceres in Scorpio’s deep nurturing clashes with BML in Aquarius’ disruption and detachment. Ceres is the intensely nurturing (and controlling) embrace while Black Moon Lilith looks out for herself and her freedom. You may be confronting this dynamic in your life as you consider the limits of how you can nurture/control versus liberation. Or, perhaps you need to come in from the cold and look at what/who needs your care.

As this takes place during the First Quarter Square, you know you’ll have to do something – use the crisis as motivation to make the necessary changes. This is your test of faith.

December 13th, 2018: Ceres in Scorpio Trine Neptune

  • Neptune in Pisces trine Ceres in Scorpio (13 deg)

Here we have unconditional nurturing. Ceres is mother’s nurturing, and in Scorpio, it is complete and fearless. Neptune dissolves boundaries and elevates this to something that approaches transcendence or sacrifice. The ease of the trine makes it effortless.

You might be nurturing something profound within yourself (deep self-care) or looking after someone who needs your love and protection. Scorpio’s Fixed nature means the ultimate commitment while Neptune’s energy of release is a gentle reminder that nothing is permanent – Ceres is part of a larger cycle. Perhaps you are experiencing a loss/death which is also a crucial part of the cycle of nurturing. The passage from one stage to the next can happen with tenderness and devotion.
