May 27th, 2019: Discordant Nurturing

  • Mars in Cancer inconjunct Ceres Rx in Sagittarius (7 deg)

Mars in Cancer is nurturing actions. Ceres in Sag is the growth and nurturing of something new, adventurous or exotic. The two are incompatible today – actions may be smothering or overcautious, holding you back when you want to explore. And yet, you can’t throw caution to the winds – you still have to be safe.

Mother/child dynamics are strong but discordant. However this is playing out in your life, consider what you have to do (Mars) to be safe and comfortable while still encouraging growth and expansion in a new area. Since Ceres is Rx, this is something you’re revisiting.

May 25th, 2019: Mercury in Gemini Opposite Ceres

  • Mercury in Gemini opposes Ceres Rx in Sagittarius (8 deg)

Choices are at odds with an area of growth. Nurturing areas of travel, education, exploration or faith are being reviewed, and in the process there are more questions. You may have difficulties articulating exactly where you would like to see growth.

Too, a conversation may not deliver the care and encouragement that you need. There could be excessive focus on details when you really just want to spread your wings. In some cases, this opposition can also deliver an answer or decision that’s unfocused or cynical.

Don’t expect to hear or learn exactly what you want, but consider how you can work with the information in front of you. What can you do with the questions that have been raised?

May 17th, 2019: Saturn Rx Square Vesta in Aries

  • Saturn Rx in Capricorn square Vesta in Aries (20 deg)

What are you focusing on? Do you feel blocked or fixated? Saturn and Vesta are both about focus, but Vesta is absolute devotion while Saturn is rules and restrictions. When the two form a crisis square, the restrictions (Saturn) on your freedom (Aries) can make the passionate urge to break away that much stronger. This is about being penned in and desperately gazing at what’s on the other side. Your sacred flame (Vesta) is being extinguished.

But is it? Saturn’s limits are always about drawing your attention to an essential matter. A new area of passion/impulse needs to be defined or needs more work. That responsibility will be a crisis, especially since Saturn is Rx – you’re revisiting this. Do you have to try harder? If it’s truly sacred, it can’t be extinguished. Vesta thrives on limits and the tension challenges you to burn brighter. Just make sure that you’re not so focused on breaking away that you forget about your responsibilities.

May 12th, 2019: Double Yod

  • Mercury in Taurus inconjunct Ceres Rx in Sagittarius (10 deg)

  • Mercury in Taurus inconjunct Pallas Rx in Libra (11 deg)

  • Mercury in Taurus sextile Juno in Cancer (10 deg)

  • Juno in Cancer inconjunct Ceres Rx in Sagittarius (10 deg)

A double Yod happening today, featuring Mercury in Taurus. The tension between growth and safety in a relationship agreement will be featured, and discussions are liable to be slow and awkward.

Yod #1

Mercury makes an inconjunct to Ceres Rx and Pallas Rx, so Mercury is the focal point. Mercury receives two tense aspects – solid, predictable words and ideas are incompatible with the nurturing of new, expansive areas (Ceres in Sag) and relationship strategies that involve compromise (Pallas in Libra).

Stubborn, uncompromising words may block relationship growth and flexibility. Perhaps there’s a refusal to accept change. But Mercury is also the goal, so relationship flexibility must be balanced with set ideas. Find some changes that both people can agree on and commit to those changes. Stick with the plan and make it solid (Taurus).

Yod #2

Mercury and Juno make inconjuncts to Ceres. Juno in Cancer is the agreement to nurture and stay safe. Ceres in Sag is new, expansive forms of nurturing. This time, Ceres is the focal point so that drive for change will disrupt the cozy agreement (that’s supported by fixed ideas). Ceres is also the goal – keep growing together, but find a way to do it safely and slowly. Zero growth in a relationship equals stagnation, but you can do it in such a way that both parties feel secure.

The key with handling Yods is to view the inconjuncts as aspects of adjustment- adjust both sides so they can work together (this can usually be accomplished by moderating the energy at each end of the inconjunct). The focal point of the Yod is pressure point, the block and the goal – the energy of the Yod should be focused through this point.

Ceres and Pallas as both retrograde, so you’re returning to this issue. It hasn’t become any easier, but you can still work with it.

May 4th, 2019: Security Versus Freedom

  • Taurus Moon inconjunct Ceres Rx in Sagittarius (12 deg)

  • Taurus Moon inconjunct Pallas Rx in Libra (13 deg)

The Taurus Moon forms a Yod to Ceres and Pallas. The Moon makes an inconjunct (aspect of incompatibility) to Ceres: a disconnect between expansive (Sagittarius) nurturing (Ceres) and fixed habits (Taurus). The Moon also makes an inconjunct to Pallas: a disconnect between the same fixed habits and social (Libra ) strategies (Pallas).

Pallas and Ceres Rx are connected with a supportive sextile, so light, balanced strategies and the nurturing of new areas connect in an easy way. Both are retrograde, so you’re revisiting this issue and perhaps discovering new directions to take a relationship.

But the barrier is fixed habits; you may get tripped up by fears of moving forward or hesitation to compromise. The focal point (the Taurus Moon) is also where the energy of the Yod must be directed – the growth of relationship strategies must be focused in a way that adds to your security.

The Yod is the most frustrating configuration, because the challenge (the Taurus Moon)is also the focus and goal.

It’s a tricky mix, and you may swing back and forth between freedom versus security. Freedom is security in this case, if new relationship areas and compromise are integrated into existing routines. What are you trying to solidify but not stagnate?

This is taking place in the dark time just before tonight’s Taurus New Moon (6:45 pm EDT), suggesting an emerging issue that’s difficult to see clearly. When the New Moon hits, things should become clearer, but don’t ignore the challenging dynamics beforehand. How you handle this Yod will add to your New Moon potentials.

May 1st, 2019: Venus and Mars

  • Venus in Aries conjunct Vesta (12 deg)

  • Venus in Aries opposite Pallas Rx in Libra (13 deg)

  • Mars in Gemini inconjunct Saturn Rx/South Node in Capricorn (20 deg)

Venus

Venus/Vesta focuses on a key issue of aesthetics, relationships, money or values. The courage to try something new or stand up for what you want/love becomes a sacred matter. Vesta’s exclusive focus and Aries’ subjective energy means this issue should be primarily about you (even if someone else is involved). Are you attracting what reflects your courage? How does it feel to put yourself first?

This is about the independence to be or express what you want. Vesta’s purity is based on virginity (vestal virgins tended the sacred flame in Vesta’s temple) but the meaning of “virginity” was sexuality that did not belong to others. It was feminine energy that was self-contained and belonged to that woman alone.

As Venus opposes Pallas (in Venus-ruled Libra) this “me first” energy will challenge a relationship strategy. That’s ok, because there’s an imbalance that needs to be corrected. Something new is being introduced into the dynamics – something more assertive and selfish (selfish does not have to be a bad thing).

Mars

Mars’ flexible choices and fast-moving impulses are at odds with the Saturn/South Node ending. You may experience a block (from the past?) as you attempt to make something happen. You may feel pressured to choose a way to say goodbye.

With the inconjunct, you need to adjust both sides. Focus is needed, as is attention to the ending or responsibility. But don’t let this shut you down – keep moving and maintain your sense of curiosity and motivation. Some choices will be restricted, but you still have work to do.
