February 6th, 2019: Discordant Nurturing

Mary Cassatt

Mary Cassatt

  • Moon in Pisces conjunct Vesta (2 deg)

  • Moon in Pisces sextile Venus in Capricorn (2 deg)

  • Moon in Pisces square Ceres in Sagittarius (3 deg)

The Moon emphasizes yesterday’s Venus/Vesta sextile:

“Venus in Capricorn is about strict and ambitious definitions for relationships, money or personal values. Vesta in Pisces focuses on transcendent or compassionate issues. When they harmonize, Vesta’s higher devotion loosens some of Venus’ rules – there can be more to what you want as judgements are released. “

Moon/Vesta suggests emotional devotion or focus on a specific issue that transcends reality. There’s a yearning for something higher. Venus adds a touch of practicality while keeping the energy calm and beautifully contained.

But the Moon/Ceres square suggests the above may be disrupted by discordant expressions of nurturing. Vague or spiritual needs are out of step with the belief about how care “should” be implemented. Although well-intentioned, Sag’s fiery enthusiasm can be too much for gentle Pisces. Nurturing may be too pushy.

Sag is about the belief of what’s true and right while Pisces simply “is.” If you’re attempting to nurture, consider what’s needed versus what you believe is best. If you’re the recipient of some pushy efforts, know that it’s ok to keep those boundaries in place.

But the sextile is such a soft aspect that you won’t feel this unless you’re paying attention. Tune in to the whisper that suggests your love or values can be elevated. At the same time, consider how a difficult-to-grasp issue (perhaps involving an unattainable devotion) can be grounded by blending it with what you want in the earthly realm.

Vesta is about purity and Venus in Cap is quite disciplined, so the vibe is still a bit spartan, but it’s an interesting mix of material and spiritual.

Venus’ Transit of Capricorn: The Beauty of Limits

Fernand Khnopff

Fernand Khnopff

Venus enters Capricorn on February 3rd. This Saturn-ruled sign is not a fun placement for Venus, but it does demand quality, focus and maturity for relationships, finances, values and self-esteem.

This is the transit that makes you aware of what you’ve earned or where you’re restricted/lacking. It delivers reality in all Venus-themed situations and demands that you focus on what you want and the associated limits.

Venus in Cap can be ambitious or fearful – it all depends on how you work with the energy. You’ll probably notice more restrictions but this is the opportunity to dig in and do the work. When you run up against a restriction, it emphasizes the true value of what you want or love. When it’s not immediately available you have to earn it.

How much do you want it? How much do you value yourself? Authority is a theme – getting yourself/your money/your boundaries under control.

As an attraction influence, Venus in Capricorn can deliver rewards, but these will only be the results of your hard work and self-respect.

This transit can also deliver judgments: not attractive enough, not successful enough. You may be weighed down by these judgements or you can turn them around and apply them in constructive ways. Are the people you let in good enough for you? Do they respect you? Do you respect yourself?

Boundaries, boundaries, boundaries.

Here are the aspects Venus in Capricorn will make:

  • Feb 5th: sextile Vesta (2 deg Pisces)

  • Feb 17th: sextile Neptune in Pisces (15 deg)

  • Feb 18th: conjunct Saturn (16 deg)

  • Feb 22nd: conjunct Pluto (22 deg)

  • Feb 26th: conjunct the South Node (25 deg)

  • Feb 28th: square Pallas Rx (29 deg Libra)

  • Mar 1st: square Uranus in Aries (29 deg)

  • Mar 1st: Aquarius ingress

February 3rd, 2019: Venus in Sagittarius Square Chiron

James Tissot

James Tissot

  • Venus in Sagittarius square Chiron in Pisces (29 deg)

Venus in Sag is about the freedom to explore and love something new. It’s also about having faith in yourself and the future of your relationship and finances.

When she runs into a square with Chiron, that faith can be undermined and exploration can lead to bruises. Maybe you reach too far or believe in the wrong person. Maybe putting yourself out there reminds you of where you feel ugly or impoverished or undeserving.

Venus in Sag can also be careless with social niceties -in her rush to get to the good stuff she can trample over the more delicate things. So this aspect can also be a caution to slow down and exercise some empathy.

Someone (maybe you) will probably get hurt.

But this is a brief aspect. Expect some sore spots, then know that a few hours later Venus will enter focused, savvy Capricorn. You won’t have much time to wallow because you’ll be moving on to the next goal or strategy.

February 2nd, 2019: Successful Risks

  • Venus in Sagittarius trine Uranus in Aries (28 deg)

  • Venus in Sagittarius sextile Pallas in Libra (28 deg)

Venus/Uranus encourages boldness, risk and a desire for something unusual regarding relationships, money or personal self-expression. The harmony of the trine says you can explore something new without falling on your face, and Venus/Pallas adds in harmonious social strategies.

Libra is ruled by Venus, so the Pallas/Venus sextile is given a bit more power – taking a relationship in a new direction, meeting new people or trying out a new look/persona/expression of your values can be part of a successful strategy. Yes, this sounds a bit calculated but Pallas is always about the “battle” and the calculated approach to victory.

Note that Pallas and Uranus are applying to an opposition, exact on Feb 7th and Feb 20th. Social strategies will be challenged by rude surprises. There are some bumps coming your way. But for today, Venus is the happy go-between, which means your faith in what’s on the horizon (and in yourself) can help you deal with the approaching shocks.

If you’re working on a relationship or social solution, get ready to change it or (perhaps) do a complete reversal.
