  • Mercury in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn (18 deg)

Third Quarter Square

The Third Quarter Square can bring up emotional crises that get you thinking about the nature of give and take in your relationships. Insecurity, mother/child issues or situations from the past can trigger imbalances that feel unfair. It may feel uncomfortable to question the nature of certain associations now, but the discomfort is a sign that all is not well.

Ultimately, you want to move to a place of balance and compromise, but that will involve honouring your needs and paying attention to what feels unsafe. Only by acknowledging what feels right for you can you achieve true balance with another. And this also means acknowledging when you have been immature, needy or helpless.

Mercury/Pluto

The square between Mercury and Pluto echoes the crisis of the Third Quarter Square. Thoughts and discussions will be intense and not straightforward. Guaranteed that there’s more going on behind the scenes, so take note of what’s not being said or what’s lurking on the edge of your awareness.

Pluto is the shadow behind Mercury in Libra’s socially acceptable words or thoughts that say “Everything is fine.” Everything is not fine, and ignoring this won’t make it go away. What don’t you want to admit? Pluto is also the uncomfortable truth – the sooner you look at what’s really going on, the sooner you can move forward.

The Mercury/Pluto square also connects to yesterday’s Mars/BML conjunction.

September 29th, 2018: Speaking Out

  • Juno enters Gemini

Speak Out

A Waning Trine between the Gemini Moon and Libra Sun includes a trine to Mars and Lilith in Aquarius, creating a Grand Air Trine (a smooth circuit of energy). Information (Gemini) is shared in a social context and accepted by others (but probably not everyone). This involves BML themes of women’s power, anger/violence and controversial sexual issues – the woman who stands out and says what many don’t want to hear.

At this moment, her passionate words and anger have a social outlet. Note that Aquarius is the group and Libra is one-on-one. Her words come out naturally (a hallmark of the trine). Now is the time – good if you want to speak about something (especially a relationship issue) that wouldn’t normally be accepted.

Juno

Juno into Gemini hi-lights flexible partnership agreements. More than one choice is key and fast-moving communication becomes essential. This is not the time to keep silent, and new agreements could manifest. Juno in Gemini urges you to exchange thoughts with another – the essence of the contract is a constant influx of fresh ideas that are shared.

However, Juno will station Rx at 0 deg Gemini on Oct 12th, returning to Taurus on Oct 24th. So right out of the gate there will be reasons to question new choices/ideas. The retreat into Taurus suggests a reevaluation of the basics of the partnership: ground yourself in what you already know before adding anything else.

Juno will station direct on Dec 23rd (at 20 deg) and will return to Gemini on Feb 10th, 2019. This is when you can confidently move forward with what you and another have discussed. Before this date, assume that there will be backtracking, questions and the exposure of additional layers.

Juno will exit Gemini for Cancer on Apr 20th, 2019.

September 27th, 2018: Balance

  • Moon in Taurus inconjunct Sun in Libra (Waning Inconjunct-4 deg)

  • Sun in Libra trine Mars and the South Node in Aquarius (4 deg)

  • Mercury in Libra conjunct Ceres (9 deg)

  • Saturn in Capricorn conjunct Vesta (2 deg)

Waning Inconjunct

The Waning Inconjunct calls for an adjustment to Monday’s Full Moon in Aries. After that challenging culmination, the inconjunct asks you to ground yourself in the moment. Pause, and remind yourself of what you have right now. There may be an urge to keep compromising or comparing, and while you can’t forget about the balance between you and them, it’s important to stabilize yourself. Take stock of your current resources.

Along with the Waning Inconjunct, the Sun’s trines to Mars and the South Node extend the vibe from yesterday’s Mars/South Node conjunction by energizing that issue (from the past) that’s reached a turning point. The goodbye or moment of liberation will be enabled by your social awareness. This is all about relationship dynamics – what needs to be left behind and what you can build on. Use the inconjunct as a reminder of what’s best for you in this situation.

The Taurus Moon will square Mars and the Nodes, which adds extra emphasis to that issue of personal values, resources or security. It will be challenging to remind yourself of what you have and what’s best for you (there may be resistance from others) but that’s exactly what you must do. Your awareness of what you stand for is essential in achieving an effective balance with others.

Nurturing Words

Mercury/Ceres suggests a truly nurturing conversation where one person listens and the other vents. Or, where there’s an equal exchange of caring words. Excellent for any kind of discussion with a counselling vibe, but remember that Libra is an Air sign. This means objectivity. It’s not about intense revelations and intimate confessions – Mercury in Libra can be receptive to anything as long as the delivery is light and there’s room to step back and process what’s being shared.

Absolute Focus

Saturn/Vesta cranks up the focus on a rule, tradition or limit. Vesta’s devotion to an issue is severely defined by Saturn – there’s a sense of unshakable commitment or unblinking concentration. This can be positive or negative, depending on what the focus is.

September 16th, 2018: First Quarter Square and Venus Square Lilith

  • First Quarter Square between the Sagittarius Moon and Virgo Sun (24 deg)

  • Venus in Scorpio square Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (4 deg)

  • Venus in Scorpio square the North/South Nodes in Leo/Aquarius (4 deg)

  • Ceres in Libra trine Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (4 deg)

First Quarter Square

The First Quarter Square can trigger a crisis about the details. There’s more to add and more to consider. You may need to expand beyond the details or put your faith in something that’s not proven. This can feel messy and even a bit risky, but if you don’t take that step you’ll notice that sticking with the small stuff will begin to feel restrictive.

Take that leap – the First Quarter Square is about action.

Venus and Lilith

Venus’ square to Lilith brings another crisis. Venus in Scorpio is dark and intense, but Scorpio’s shadows manifest in the familiar guise of female energy – Venus attracts and is about relationships. In Scorpio, she draws people in so she can get as close as possible. Lilith in Aquarius couldn’t care less about relationships. She’s out there on her own, blazing her own path, offending or unnerving most people. If she does attract someone they’re usually drawn to the truly atypical, independent lady who doesn’t want to attract them in the first place.

When these two square each other, you may experience the clash between merging and repulsing, or the desire for complete intimacy versus complete distance. These are two different types of female power – absorption of the partner’s resources (and in some cases, the partner) versus zero need for a partner.

BML will conjoin the South Node on September 17th, and Venus is also squaring the Nodes. This makes it an even bigger issue – karmic. Lilith on the Aquarius South Node says this is an issue from the past (or past life) that’s culminating. The outcast/witch/dangerous woman/mistress has been an ongoing theme, and Venus square the Nodes means it’s time to dive beneath those dynamics. Look at the shadow issues. For example, if you feel like you’re the outcast, does part of you like that status? Does part of you relish being isolated? This might happen if true intimacy (Scorpio) is more frightening than detachment (Aquarius). If you’re judging/rejecting someone else because of her behaviour, consider if she is a manifestation of your shadow. Venus square the Nodes can point to a key relationship or woman.

With the Leo North Node as the path forward, you’re looking at how you can illuminate what’s secret/buried, and bring warmth and pride to what was previously rejected.

Interestingly, Ceres in Venus-ruled Libra is making a nice trine to Lilith. So despite her rebel tendencies, there’s an opportunity to nurture some kind of one-on-one connection. Perhaps a bit of equality? But the tension of the square always outweighs the ease of the trine, so my guess is the square to Venus will dominate.

As this is happening during the First Quarter Square, you are encouraged to move beyond what you know (what you consider to be true) regarding relationships, attraction and being on the outside.

Due to Venus’ upcoming Rx (Oct 5th) her square to Lilith and the Nodes will repeat (note the change of sign for the Nodes). So this issue will continue to the end of the year.:

  • Oct 17th: Venus Rx in Scorpio square BML (8 deg)

  • Oct 30th: Venus Rx in Scorpio square the Nodes in Leo/Aquarius (0 deg)

  • Nov 28th: Venus direct in Libra square the North/South Node in Cancer/Capricorn (28 deg)

  • Dec 23rd: Venus direct in Scorpio square BML (15 deg)

September 5th, 2018: Waning Sextile and a Sticky Inconjunct

  • Waning Sextile between the Cancer Moon and Virgo Sun (12 deg)
  • Mercury in Leo inconjunct Mars in Capricorn (29 deg)

The Waning Sextile promises an opportunity. It will be quiet – a chance to upgrade and refine raw needs via facts. A chance to transition towards a new goal that’s good for you. And, you won’t have to step outside your comfort zone to do this. The transition will be small but effective.

But you’ll have to pay attention if you want to work with this. It will be so quiet that you might miss it and just stick with the old.

Adding a bit of tension, we have an inconjunct between Mercury and Mars in the last degrees of their respective signs. Big words are out of synch with disciplined actions. Actions are undermined by big words. It will be difficult to align thoughts with intent, but the activation of final degrees (and Mercury’s Virgo ingress later today) suggests this will be a brief but pointed issue. Something is being wrapped up (perhaps a project that was delayed during Mars’ retrograde). The final step could be sticky as you struggle to adjust words with motivation.

The secret to an inconjunct? Moderate both sides but keep them active. So you want to maintain that discipline and ambition, but ease off on the hammer. You want to maintain the creativity and confidence of what you’re saying, but tone down the grandiose energy.

  • Waxing Inconjunct between the Aquarius Moon and Virgo Sun (0 deg)
  • Vesta in Sagittarius square Ceres in Virgo (24 deg)

Before we arrive at the peak of the August 26th’s Full Moon in Pisces, there are adjustments to be made. Before you can perfect/finalize/refine, you need to take a left turn from the details. Consider a shot of the unexpected and detach yourself from what you’ve been staring at. The odd extra will announce itself out of the blue, so don’t worry about identifying it. It will be so discordant that you can’t miss it. Rather than discarding it, adjust the current facts and make room for what makes no sense.

Vesta/Ceres suggests that a story or belief you’ve been focusing on is conflicting with something you’ve been nurturing. It could be that the ideal challenges the reality – Vesta in Sag is heightened and passionate, but not practical. Ceres in Virgo is as practical and earthy as it gets. You’re nurturing something mundane, but why does this conflict with what you believe in, or what you’re reaching for?

In her book “Asteroid Goddesses” Demetra George suggests that a hard aspect between Ceres and Vesta can indicate issues with sterility. Vesta is the virginal focus – absolute dedication to one issue to the exclusion of all else. Ceres is mother’s nurturing. When the two conflict, Ceres’ fertility can be compromised by focus elsewhere, and this can be in a literal or metaphorical sense. What you’re attempting to grow is challenged by the exclusive focus on a higher ideal.

The resolution is hinted at in the Waxing Inconjunct – make room for what’s new without abandoning your practical sensibilities.
