  • Leo Sun trine Chiron Rx in Aries (5 deg)

  • Venus in Leo trine Ceres in Sagittarius (0 deg)

Sun/Chiron is healing through pride and courage. Putting yourself forward to celebrate your talents/take a risk are excellent antidotes for fear. But this energy blends confidence with empathy – you know what it’s like to hurt so your pride is infused with compassion. This aspect has considerable magnetism as people are drawn to your light and the heat of your healing.

Venus/Ceres is about love and nurturing expressed through passion, joy and hope for the future. The “mothering” vibe encourages freedom – grow what’s dramatic, obvious and exciting. You can attract others if you nurture your confidence and their confidence – Venus/Ceres brings out the best in others when care and affection are expressed openly, with no strings. In this case, your own flame must be stoked before you can spread that warmth.

Venus’ Transit of Leo: What You Want

Erik Johan Löfgren

Erik Johan Löfgren

Venus enters Leo on July 27th at 9:53 PM EDT. Money, values, self-esteem and relationships are enhanced with pride, power and the desire to be number one. Attracting the best is a theme, as are bold displays – showier is beautiful. This is not the time to be subtle about what you want, but if you’re lacking in something the discrepancy between this and what another has will be that much louder. Jealousy and competition can be major issues during this transit.

Venus in Leo is creative and joyful when all is well. She loves to play, celebrate, express her talents and share her love. She can be extremely generous and demanding – people give a lot under this transit and want even more. All that glitters is paramount because the visual evidence of quality/love/success is crucial. Venus in Leo wants others to notice what she’s got going on and she’s not ashamed to admit it. And why should she be? She bold, dramatic and self-indulgent in this sign: romance and risk keep things interesting.

For those not accustomed to being so forthright about Venus issues, this energy can be uncomfortable. It’s also very easy to distort, especially if you’re unloved/unwanted/jealous. You can sneer at others while feeling bitter over what you don’t have – contrasts are hi-lighted in Leo’s bold light. But the purpose of these contrasts is to remind you of what you could have if you stopped dwelling on what you’re lacking. Not to say that we can all be rich, famous and airbrushed. But we do all want certain things. Venus in Leo will emphasize the distant glitter so you can take stock of what’s beautiful in your life and what situations might be blocking the acquisition of more love and beauty.

If you think you deserve better, what’s stopping you from attracting it? Note that Mars (action) will be in the same sign as Venus (although not conjunct) until Aug 18th, so action and attraction are on the same page. Act with confidence, joy and dignity to attract the same.

Here are the aspects Venus in Leo will make:

  • Jul 28th: trine Ceres in Sagittarius (0 deg)

  • Aug 1st: trine Chiron Rx in Aries (5 deg)

  • Aug 2nd: square Uranus in Taurus (6 deg)

  • Aug 5th: inconjunct Black Moon Lilith in Pisces (10 deg)

  • Aug 8th: trine Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius (14 deg)

  • Aug 9th: inconjunct Saturn Rx in Capricorn (15 deg)

  • Aug 11th: inconjunct Neptune Rx in Pisces (18 deg)

  • Aug 14th: conjunct the Sun (21 deg)

  • Aug 14th: inconjunct Pluto Rx in Capricorn (21 deg)

  • Aug 15th: square Juno in Taurus (22 deg)

  • Aug 19th: sextile Pallas in Libra (27 deg)

  • Aug 19th: conjunct Juno (28 deg)

  • Aug 21st: Virgo ingress

July 24th, 2019: What Really Matters

  • Last Quarter Square between the Taurus Moon and Leo Sun (1 deg)

  • Mercury Rx in Cancer conjunct Venus (26 deg)

The Last Quarter Square can see you questioning what’s showy/obvious as more solid (and perhaps boring things) nudge your awareness. What you can rely on, or what you already have, is worth taking note of – the contrast between this and what’s shouting for attention can reveal important questions about your financial security or values. Back to basics is important.

Mercury Rx conjunct Venus (which rules Taurus) hi-lights the question of values, money or self-esteem. Taking a second look at what you want and need, or revisiting a message/messenger from the past can uncover beneficial information. This aspect can deliver good news, but in the context of the Third Quarter Square, it will also involve deeper questions about what you want/love. This is about more than pleasant words – there’s a clarification of what really matters. If you’re having an important conversation, choose your words carefully for maximum emotional resonance. Go for quiet attraction over drama.

  • Sun conjunct Mercury Rx in Cancer (28 deg)

  • Venus in Cancer opposite Pluto Rx in Capricorn (21 deg)

Watch for some uncomfortable truths to be revealed. Sun/Mercury is the midpoint of the Mercury’s Rx, so emotional facts/info should be illuminated. You may gain an understanding of family issues/issues from the past. Or, the return to a past conversation can reveal a truth that you feel and understand.

Venus/Pluto adds an intense conclusion to the above. Pluto unearths dark compulsions, fears, obsessions or desires that lie behind Venus’ money, relationship or self-esteem issues. There can also be a profound “death” in one of these situations. The greater the attraction (or the more powerful the ending) the greater the transformation potential. Venus in Cancer wants safety and comfort, but Pluto insists on pushing things outside the comfort zone.

Oppositions also suggest projection, so these aspects can reveal some interesting facts about what you think you want – often, someone embodies what you need to develop within yourself, and your all-consuming obsession with them is simply a reflection of this.

It may feel as if what you want or have is wrapped up in primal, childhood dynamics. Power/domination can create unbalanced relationships with one partner as parent and the other as child. The Sun/Mercury conjunction will reveal a truth about these dynamics, so keep your eyes open.

July 18th, 2019: Venus Trine Neptune, Mercury Rx Trine Ceres

  • Venus in Cancer trine Neptune Rx in Pisces (18 deg)

  • Mercury Rx in Leo trine Ceres in Sagittarius (0 deg)

The trine from Neptune takes the edge off the Venus/Saturn opposition. After the restrictions comes a gentle release and increase in acceptance, grace or relief. Neptune expands where Saturn restricted and opens up possibilities that exist to the side of Saturn’s rules. If the Saturn opposition brought a commitment or official result, Neptune can enhance the good stuff.

Mercury makes the second of three trines to Ceres, asking you to have faith in what you’re hearing or saying. The first trine occurred on June 29th when Ceres was Rx, and now that Mercury is Rx (and Ceres is direct) you may be asking again or reconsidering what you’ve learned, involving an area of nurturing and exploration. Keep honing your message, because it can grow into something bigger.

July 17th, 2019: Venus in Cancer Opposing Saturn

  • Venus in Cancer opposite Saturn Rx in Capricorn (16 deg_

  • Venus conjunct the North Node (17 deg)

  • Ceres stations direct (0 deg Sagittarius)

Venus opposing the ruler of July 16th’s eclipse indicates that the eclipse results will deliver a reality check around what you want and love. This could be a commitment, ending or hard definition that locks you in to what you want.

Sometimes strict boundaries can be a good thing, especially if you’ve been craving security and tradition. If so, this eclipse could deliver a very reassuring conclusion. But if you end up being denied, know that Venus’ move over the North Node says it’s time to move on, no matter what. The future awaits, and it’s full of the authentic, nurturing expression of what you want and need. Saturn is just making it easier to get there, because you can’t go back (and you probably don’t want to).

If you’re feeling unloved, pressured or restricted (you can’t enjoy what you want to enjoy) know that this is part of the maturity process. Draw your line, define your values, move on. Take responsibility for what you want – family and parental issues are key. Remember that you’re moving towards what you want and need. This is not some random craving or indulgence. You’re taking a hard look at what you’re ready to commit to. Consider the line between want and need (very important). The two are combined now, so it’s about more than indulgence.

Ceres direct continues the theme of forward movement – expansive nurturing or the exploration of growth in new areas is now ready to progress. Watch for movement in something you’ve put your faith in.
