Third Quarter Square

The Third Quarter Square brings an internal crisis, as bold, bright (possibly celebratory) energies hi-light the contrast between light and dark. Something is grabbing your attention, but you may not feel like examining the contrast it triggers. However, looking deeper or confronting the specter of loss, powerlessness or massive change is necessary. A new beginning awaits, but you can’t access it unless you’re prepared to acknowledge what’s dying (or your own Shadow issues).

Venus Rx

Adding to the above, the Venus/Uranus opposition suggests an ending or culmination that’s been in the works for awhile (you may have encountered it on September 12th, 2018 when Venus in Scorpio first opposed Uranus). A jolt of clarity, or desire for freedom, will add to the re-evaluations that Venus Rx in Scorpio has stirred up. Here’s your moment of truth.

This jolt may push you back a step or two, as Venus’ return to Libra indicates a second look at the balance between you and another, or the social balance in your life. Surface issues will be questioned – is everything really ok?

Check out my post on Venus’ transit of Libra for a more detailed look at this portion of Venus’ Rx, as well as specific aspects.

October 29th, 2018: A Day To Go Deep

  • Waning Trine between the Cancer Moon and Scorpio Sun (5 deg)

  • Mercury conjunct Jupiter in Scorpio (27 deg)

  • Mercury in Scorpio trine Chiron Rx in Pisces (28 deg)

The Waning Trine allows you to share feelings and needs on a profound level, and no one will be scared off by the intensity. Comfort and familiarity blend with dark issues and secrets, so almost nothing is “too much.” Dive in and allow others to witness your feelings. Or, if you’d rather keep this private, it’s still an excellent time to submerge yourself in what was previously too heavy. The trine allows a natural progression through those feelings.

Adding even more understanding, we have Mercury/Jupiter for the perfect combo of intellect and faith, words and enthusiasm. Mercury/Jupiter is big words and discoveries – announcing what you’ve uncovered from Scorpio’s depths. A massive shot of truth, and Mercury’s trine to Chiron Rx enables this to be delivered with empathy.

Chiron Rx is also about the wound that’s being revisited, but now you have the facts (Mercury) and the bigger picture (Jupiter) for a complete perspective. Here’s your solution, assistance, or positive answer that helps you deal with the wound.

Overall, today is made for emotional discussions, sharing intimate facts or arriving at a profound realization and release.

October 26th, 2018: New Chapter

  • Waning Inconjunct between the Gemini Moon and Scorpio Sun (3 deg)

  • Sun in Scorpio conjunct Venus Rx (3 deg)

The Waning Inconjunct adds more information to the results of the October 24th Full Moon. Additional questions, facts or choices may pop up and you’ll have to consider them. This will involve the Sun/Venus Rx conjunction, a new chapter in the Sun/Venus cycle. Here is a point of illumination regarding a relationship/money/self-esteem issue you’ve been reviewing since Venus stationed Rx (October 5th). The Sun/Venus cycle itself goes back to the last conjunction, on January 9th, 2018 at 18 deg Capricorn.

The start of this new chapter will be marked by awkward or inconvenient questions, but they will be an unavoidable symptom of Scorpio’s deep dive and reevaluation. And, the questions will be part of the entrance into a different chapter or era – can you feel that you’re starting something new? Venus is still Rx, but the energy has shifted.

October 22nd, 2018: Gentle Truths

  • Waxing Inconjunct between the Pisces Moon and Libra Sun (28 deg)

  • Moon conjunct Chiron Rx in Pisces (28 deg)

  • Sun in Libra inconjunct Chiron Rx in Pisces (28 deg)

  • Mercury in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn (18 deg)

The Waxing Inconjunct will hi-light something that needs to be acknowledged before the October 24th Taurus Full Moon.

The Sun’s inconjunct to Chiron Rx is part of this – while the Pisces Moon/Chiron conjunction will encourage immersion (no boundaries) in what feels sensitive, this immersion will need to be balanced (Libra) with the awareness of others (Libra is the relationship sign). Empathy will be key – what are they going through? You may find some common ground.

As I wrote in yesterday’s post, this is a “poignant and peaceful” energy, and the Libra influence certainly doesn’t indicate disruption. But consider if what you’re feeling connects you to someone else. There may be a wound or embarrassment that specifically involves one-on-one relationships.

Mercury/Pluto encourages the exploration of intensive (Scorpio) truths in an non-invasive way. Words will have an impact, but they can be spoken gently because the sextile is soft aspect. Information can be uncovered and it doesn’t have to be earth-shattering. Overall, today’s vibe is compassionate and honest.

October 19th, 2018: What’s Meant To Happen

  • Waxing Trine between the Aquarius Moon and Libra Sun (26 deg)

  • Mercury in Scorpio trine Neptune Rx in Pisces (14 deg)

  • Mercury in Scorpio square Mars in Aquarius (14 deg)

Waxing Trine

The Waxing Trine indicates a natural flow between partnership and independence, one-on-one and the group. All the social angles are covered, making it easy to connect with others on various levels. The catch is that you have to keep it light – the Air signs call for detachment and intellectual connections. Overall, this trine has a lively vibe that that enables the progress of any type of relationship.

Mercury

Despite the flow of the trine, Mercury’s square to Mars does suggest that communication will be tense. The urge to dig deep for answers (and this can be rooted in the desire to control by knowing all the “secrets”) will clash with actions that demand freedom. There may be tension between wanting to step back versus wanting to know more. The result can be angry words and forceful demands.

The Neptune/Mercury trine can help. If you encounter pressure to reveal more than you’re comfortable with, or you’re the one applying the pressure, take a deep breath, exhale and let go. Accept that you can’t force the words or knowledge – some things aren’t meant to be known, and you don’t have to open up if you don’t want to. Neptune encourages release, forgiveness and its own brand of detachment via transcendence. What you need to know will come to you, as will the right words.

The common theme today is the trine – natural flow. There is no need to force anything, because what’s meant to unfold will do so without effort.

October 16th, 2018: First Quarter Square

  • First Quarter Square between the Capricorn Moon and Libra Sun (23 deg)

  • Mercury in Scorpio sextile Vesta in Capricorn (9 deg)

Moving forward from the issues of loss, transformation and rebirth during the October 8th New Moon, the First Quarter Square challenges you to activate boundaries and responsibilities around these events.

It may be time to put your foot down or play by the rules- an exchange (Libra) will remain unbalanced until you do so. It may be easier to play nice or be passive, but the Capricorn Moon demands some adult energy. You can be fair but firm.

This square activates the other side of the parenting energy of the New Moon, which conjoined Ceres (mother’s nurturing). Capricorn is associated with the father, so any mother/child issues can be balanced out. Consider if you need to become the parent, or become your own parent. What do you need to define, shoulder or refuse? What are the parameters of the agreement that came about during the New Moon?

The new and uncomfortable responsibilities will push you forward.

Mercury/Vesta can help, with a nudge of quiet focus. Here is the serious conversation or piece of information – there’s something below the surface to consider (a secret or deep truth) and it’s asking for your complete attention. It should feel natural and easy to do this, although the gentleness of the sextile means it won’t demand that you look at it. But there could be something helpful that can show you the way through the First Quarter Square.

  • Sagittarius Moon sextile Mars in Aquarius (11 deg)

  • Sagittarius Moon square Neptune Rx in Pisces (14 deg)

  • Waxing Sextile between the Sagittarius Moon and Libra Sun (20 deg)

  • Moon Void of Course in Sagittarius at 8:56 PM EDT

  • Moon enters Capricorn (and Void ends) on Oct 14th at 3:16 PM EDT

The Sag Moon brings buoyant, hopeful energy that’s enhanced by its aspect to Mars (actions) – you may be ready for a bit of an adventure, or at least, ready to step in a new direction. Rules and boundaries may feel a bit oppressive, especially when the Moon squares Neptune. Here is the big dream and reality could be left behind.

Sag is the sign of the explorer and Neptune dissolves boundaries, so the mood will be impractical and full of hope. This is ok as long as you’re aware that what you’re wishing for may not manifest exactly as you envisioned.

On the plus side, this leads you to the Waxing Sextile, which is a time of potential. You can move ahead into new territory as long as your ideals (Sagittarius) are balanced (Libra). The Neptune square may be just what you need to open your eyes to this new potential (as long as you don’t take it too far).

This Waxing Sexitle is social and enthusiastic.

As the Moon goes Void (until October 14th) allow yourself to float and rest with the leap that you’ve just taken. Don’t push it any further, for now.

  • Libra Moon trine the Aquarius South Node (3 deg)

  • Libra Moon square Saturn in Capricorn (3 deg)

  • Libra Moon square Vesta in Capricorn (6 deg)

  • Libra Moon trine Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (7 deg)

  • Libra Moon trine Mars in Aquarius (9 deg)

Leading up to today’s New Moon in Libra (11:46 PM EDT) the Waning Moon starts with a harmonious contact to the South Node – the past is easily integrated into the present. This is a mild aspect so you probably won’t feel it strongly, but watch for a sense of familiarity as big issues involving liberation, individuation or the group play out in a one-on-one context. Been there, done that.

The squares to Saturn and Vesta are a bit more pronounced, suggesting limits on a relationship or an imbalance due to excessive focus in one area. At this point you may discover that social acceptance or peace are defined (by tradition) to the point where your options are limited. This energy can feel uncomfortable – maybe you’re being judged or cut off.

However, the trines to BML and Mars provide a nice outlet: if the rules aren’t working for you, know that there’s another way. BML and Mars in Aquarius encourage you to follow the alternative path and act from a place of honest motivation. Don’t worry about being liked – the trine suggests there should be natural acceptance and understanding from another.

These trines refer back to any Aquarius South Node issues that are coming forward – past issues of rebellion, freedom or feeling like an outcast can be worked through.

All this occurs during the Dark or Waning Moon. The time just before the New Moon is perfect for wrapping up old issues, saying goodbye or shutting something down. You need to do this in order to approach the New Moon with a clean slate.

What relationship and social dynamics are ending?

October 4th, 2018: Waning Sextile

  • Leo Moon opposite Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (6 deg)

  • Leo Moon opposite Mars in Aquarius (7 deg)

  • Waning Sextile between the Leo Moon and Libra Sun (11 deg)

  • Leo Moon sextile Ceres in Leo (12 deg)

  • Leo Moon inconjunct Neptune Rx in Pisces (14 deg)

The Leo Moon opposing BML and Mars can trigger some dramatic emotional displays. You may be confronted with the challenge to choose between being applauded/appreciated versus making an assertive but unpopular move. The dark side of fame and attention may be activated, with violently radical and controversial actions that reflect sexual rage and women’s rage. The fire will be ignited and may burn out of control,

All in the public eye.

Fortunately, this leads us to the Waning Sextile, which can help you make sense of this drama and add some chill to that flame. The creative drive, drama or spotlight is balanced. It’s easy to understand how others will perceive you, or the impact you’ll have on others (if you’re paying attention). And, someone may have your back, as the sextile to Ceres suggests relationships with a nurturing vibe. Or, you can gracefully nurture what you’re bringing out into the public.

The only tricky part is the inconjunct to Neptune – keep an eye on what’s real, because you can get distracted by fantasies, confusion or wishful thinking.

October 3rd, 2018: Dramatic Shifts

  • Cancer Moon trine Jupiter in Scorpio (22 deg)

  • Moon Void of Course in Cancer at 4:32 AM EDT

  • Cancer Moon trine Chiron Rx in Pisces (29 deg)

  • Leo ingress at 5:12 PM EDT

  • Leo Moon square Uranus Rx in Taurus (1 deg)

  • Leo Moon conjunct the North Node (3 deg)

A moody day, with dramatic shifts.

The last planetary aspect the Cancer Moon makes before it goes VOC is a rich trine to Jupiter. Expect a lot of feels to come rushing out- deep empathy/needs/nostalgia. This should feel good, if intense, because a trine to Jupiter often triggers enjoyable emotions.

But we must also be aware that Jupiter expands everything, so it’s possible that neediness and possessiveness can also bubble up. Either way, the trine suggests an easy outlet – no holding back.

The Moon is still considered Void with an aspect to Chiron, so this time of rest ( it’s best not to start anything new during a VOC Moon) can be ideal for peaceful healing. Allow yourself to feel whatever comes up and accept this- no emotions are “bad”, they just are what they are. You might use this time to curl up and look after yourself.

The mood changes when the Moon enters showy, passionate Leo and squares Uranus. Watch for a sudden surge of energy, creativity or the desire to get noticed. You may want to step out or you may be pushed into some drama. As the Moon conjoins the North Node, this fiery surge can be your sign to move forward. This is the time to look at what’s next or take advantage of an emerging opportunity.
