  • Waxing Trine between the Gemini Moon and Aquarius Sun (26 deg)

  • Sun in Aquarius inconjunct the Cancer North Node/Moon in Gemini inconjunct the Capricorn South Node (26 deg)

The Waxing Trine promises smooth progress and integration between new facts/communication and the group. Social media is favoured as a tool. This is an easy influence that supports the exchange of fresh ideas and innovation with everyone. Info can move quickly and words will be sharp, witty and unique.

However, the Sun and Moon make inconjuncts (aspects of incompatibility) to the North and South Nodes respectively. This means new information/choices may interfere with the path that takes you from old rules/limits/repression to a more sensitive, feeling place.

Detachment and social media can distance you so much that you lose sight of what matters emotionally. And yet, with the inconjunct, you need to work both sides. So the flow of ideas is still important as long as you don’t allow this to distract you from your path: honouring your needs and learning where it’s safe to be vulnerable.

  • First Quarter Square between the Taurus Moon and Aquarius Sun (23 deg)

  • Vesta in Pisces square Ceres in Sagittarius (5 deg)

The First Quarter Square brings a crisis between liberation (Aquarius) and routine (Taurus). What’s new and unusual may now feel a bit too crazy and you may encounter a block that forces you to slow down.

This square is the “crisis in action” aspect so forward movement is still necessary, but in this case it’s movement of a different kind. Rather than floating above the issue and exploring the theoretical what ifs, it’s time to come down to earth and take slow, solid steps. This might feel a bit dull, but it’s necessary so you can ground yourself.

The square between Vesta (devotion) and Ceres (nurturing) tells us a bit more about today’s tension. Vesta in Pisces wants to withdraw and contemplate while Ceres in Sag wants to overwhelm with expansive care and protection. Vesta in Pisces is pure and spiritual (or magical) while Ceres in Sag can trample over sensitivities in the rush to nurture (and the rush to do what’s best).

Consider how the dynamics of withdrawal versus nurturing are playing out now – there could be a crisis of faith around mothering or care for someone who is ill (perhaps they don’t want help or require a different kind of nurturing).

  • Waxing Sextile between the Aries Moon and Aquarius Sun (21 deg)

  • Mercury in Aquarius square Juno in Taurus (29 deg)

  • Juno enters Gemini

The Waxing Sextile encourages you to start something new. It’s time to step into uncharted territory or break a couple of rules, but no one is going to push you. The opportunity is there and it may seem inconsequential, but don’t overlook it. Take one step forward and recognize how natural it feels.

This step forward can help you deal with the Mercury/Juno square. Mercury’s unconventional ideas/words will clash with Juno’s fixed partnership agreement. One person may be ready for something new while the other person wants things to remain as they are.

Well, it’s time for change and this is illustrated by Juno’s Gemini ingress, a few hours after this square. Juno into Gemini indicates that agreements and commitments can become more flexible as multiple options unfold. There’s more than one way to commit and open communication (Gemini is ruled by Mercury) will be key.

However, the tension with Mercury will continue as it enters Pisces on this day and (due to its Rx) repeats the square with Juno on March 24th and April 14th. More choices indicate that there’s more to discuss, but also more to disagree about. Accept that this will be an ongoing issue until April and be prepared to keep talking.

  • Waning Sextile between the Sagittarius Moon and Aquarius Sun (10 deg)

  • Moon in Sagittarius sextile Mercury in Aquarius (10 deg)

  • Moon in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces (14 deg)

  • Moon in Sagittarius conjunct Jupiter (17 deg)

The Waning Sextile is an opportunity that can propel you towards the February 4th New Moon. A sense of adventure, exploration or the desire to expand your knowledge can be harnessed and applied to an issue that’s innovative or unusual. This sextile includes Mercury, so it will feature communication or new information.

What you learn or say will help you progress from the past to the future – knowledge is your fuel.

Yesterday’s Sun/Mercury conjunction will factor into this – how can you carry that clarity forward? What more can you do with with it? Is there something you need to say?

The Moon’s square to Neptune may briefly throw you off track as inflated hopes distract you – keep your eye on what you know to be true, not what you’re wishing for. The Moon’s final aspect (a conjunction with Jupiter) says there’s significant promise if you can avoid getting caught up in an illusion. Even if you feel disappointed with what goes down, know that Moon/Jupiter means there’s a real reason to be optimistic.

Overall, today should feel hopeful, but it’s up to you to do something with the opportunity that’s growing.

January 28th, 2019: Quiet But Heavy

  • Moon in Scorpio sextile Saturn in Capricorn (14 deg)

  • Moon in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces (14 deg)

  • Moon in Scorpio square Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (19 deg)

  • Moon in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn (21 deg)

  • Moon Void of Course in Scorpio (21 deg 5:38 pm EST)

  • Moon enters Sagittarius and VOC ends (Jan 29th 9:32 am EST)

A rather quiet but heavy Scorpio-flavoured day. The sextile to Saturn can confirm a deep commitment in a gentle way. This is subtle but serious – a nudge that there’s something you cannot escape because it’s inevitable. The trine to Neptune can deepen things even more as Neptune dissolves limits and Scorpio pushes the limits. So we have a dive into something profound and possibly dark. But Neptune makes the transition seamless – it will feel natural to submerge yourself.

On the way down, the Moon squares BML. She is the Moon’s “opposite” – the point furthest from the Moon. In Aquarius she is the dark rebel woman and sh*t disturber who raises uncomfortable issues about gender and sexual dynamics. When she squares the Scorpio Moon, watch for shadows behind the rebellion. The angry woman may have shadows of her own (especially involving the interplay between the alternative and traditional feminine) or she may be confronting deeper and uglier truths about her position on the edge of society. The square is a crisis.

What’s waiting at the bottom? A sextile to Pluto (Scorpio’s ruler). The last aspect before the Moon goes VOC, this sextile is another gentle nudge. This time you’re reminded of the benefits of transformation which include a total loss and rebirth. Something must die before you can evolve. Nobody said Scorpio was easy.

The sextile (again) should make this process relatively painless, so as you enter VOC territory you can rest and contemplate what you let go of or what left you. It should feel “ok” as in “this is the way it’s meant to be.” There may even be peace.

The Moon’s entrance to Sag should lighten the mood considerably, with a fiery surge of new possibilities – your reward for braving the Scorpio depths.

January 27th, 2019: Questions for the Outsider

  • Third Quarter Square between the Scorpio Moon and Aquarius Sun (7 deg)

  • Vesta in Aquarius trine Pallas in Libra (27 deg)

The Third Quarter Square can raise some uncomfortable questions about a social ideal, drive for liberation or detachment. Now you need to look beneath the issue you’re currently viewing from a distance. There may be unpleasant truths or shadows that need to be confronted, but this will raise some pertinent questions about your group or place in society (even if you’re on the fringe).

Consider the dark side of liberation or escape – have you pulled away from something too quickly? What are your motivations for detaching? With any freedom comes loss, and this could be what you’re looking at now. If something intense is simmering beneath the surface, know that you can’t maintain the cool cover forever. Eventually you’ll have to dive in and feel, which will give you a brand new perspective on your connection to everyone else.

Vesta/Pallas can help you put some of this in perspective. Vesta in Aquarius is devotion to personal liberation, and when it harmonizes with Pallas in Libra, you can view your freedom in the context of its impact on your one-on-one relationships. Social strategies can work with independence – you don’t have to be isolated and others may support your solitary quest.
