Leo Solar Eclipse: Lights Out

As we draw closer to the quiet holiness of the eclipse moment, something sweet, serious, and profoundly heartfelt is trying to emerge. Make room for it. Light a candle, and offer a little prayer. Shut out the chaos for awhile, and tune into your own frequency. All is well in your own kingdom. Decide what you will create there…

Questionable Self-Reflection

Many continue to be vibrating from the turbulent energy of last week’s altruistic Aquarian Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse. Trying to stay balanced during this emotional roller coaster of ups and downs can be a struggle, especially as the Solar Eclipse continues to fuel up. Breakdowns are bound to happen as communications shift into an overdrive of […]

New Moon Eclipse in Leo

The August 21st New Moon (solar) eclipse occurs at 28 degrees Leo. This blazing new beginning will be powered up by its alignment with the Leo North Node, and its trine to Uranus Rx (ruler of the Aquarius South Node).

The August 6th’s Full Moon eclipse in Aquarius may have brought something from the past (South Node) to a culmination, and the New Moon eclipse will continue that trend. Now, the focus is on moving ahead with the North Node agenda- power that’s based on what you create, what you’re proud of and what makes you confident. Uranus Rx keeps the connection with the South Node flowing. What began on the fringe (Aquarius) or what made you feel weird/alienated/ostracized can be brought to the centre. It’s time to put yourself/your talent/your cause in the spotlight. This is you, and you’re forging ahead while cutting the last few ties with a restrictive or unaccepting past.

This eclipse is hooked into Mercury retrograde. Mars in Leo will re-activate 28 degrees on September 2nd and will conjoin Mercury Rx on September 3rd. Mercury will station direct at 28 degrees Leo on September 5th. August 21st’s new beginnings may not achieve full momentum until September 5th, when the final decision is made, or all the information is in front of you. Mars will add an insistent shove (an argument?) or added courage to say what you really need to say.

Also on August 21st, we have an exact opposition between Ceres in Cancer and Pluto Rx in Capricorn. As I noted here, the Ceres/Pluto myth will be prominent. An opposition is a culmination or ending – a metaphorical death which will be followed by the bright new birth of the eclipse. Ceres/Pluto can finalize an issue of nurturing/dependency, or confront you with mother issues. Too, there could be projections – does the nurturer have the power, or are they giving it away? Hard aspects to Pluto always bring up the Shadow, so care and compassion will not be straightforward.

It’s encouraging that the eclipse is such a powerful prompt to move ahead. Cancer/Ceres is infant/mother while Leo is the next step beyond that- learning to celebrate the pure joy of play and unselfconscious expression. You’re not helpless any longer, because you have the power to create your own destiny.

August 10th, 2017: Harmony and Tricky Moments

  • Sun in Leo sextile Jupiter in Libra: 18 degrees
  • Mars in Leo inconjunct Neptune in Pisces: 13 degrees
  • Mercury in Virgo sextile Venus in Cancer: 11 degrees
  • Vesta in Virgo trine Pallas in Taurus: 11 degrees

A mostly harmonious day, with a moment that might trip you up.

Sun/Jupiter is bold and optimistic – things will work out because you feel confident, and confidence will be buoyed by the sense that things will work out. Win-win. Good for attracting favourable attention. However, Mars/Neptune is a caution. For the most part, you’ll be on target, but you can stumble (via misguided actions) if you’re not paying attention. What you’ve been ignoring can weaken your efforts.

Mercury/Venus suggests sweet words that are practical and empathetic. For example, the solution that’s presented with sensitivity, or gentle advice. Excellent if you have to point out an error or deliver a critique – you can phrase it so it almost sounds like a compliment.

Meanwhile, Vesta/Pallas is about devotion to a basic solution that can be used easily and immediately. It’s not a quick fix (results will take time) but it should be easy to access and implement. Vesta picks out a specific detail or problem, and Pallas supplies the stable strategy to address it. Healing and improvements will be visible.

Aspects to Virgo help you address the problem, while aspects to Leo reassure you that it can be fixed. Just keep your eyes on Mars/Neptune – don’t ignore the questionable action.
