August 7th, 2019: First Quarter Square and the Shadow Behind the Shine

  • 1st Quarter Square between the Scorpio Moon and Leo Sun (14 deg)

  • Sun in Leo trine Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius (14 deg)

  • Sun in Leo inconjunct Saturn Rx in Capricorn (15 deg)

  • Scorpio Moon sextile Saturn Rx in Capricorn (15 deg)

The First Quarter Square triggers a crisis between depth and shine, dark and light. The Leo Sun (amped up by Jupiter) represents a showy, optimistic situation. It’s loud and proud, bold and beautiful. But the Scorpio Moon brings a darker undertone of something you don’t want to acknowledge – the shadow behind the shine. And yet, this darkness is necessary for you to fully understand the brightness. There’s more than meets the eye – shadow work to be done. In order to enhance what you’re proud of, you need to dig deeper.

The Sun’s inconjunct to Saturn emphasizes this through inconvenient limits, rules or authority. Watch for some brakes on your ego – someone with more power may tell you what’s not possible. As unpleasant as this is, the Moon’s supportive sextile to Saturn reminds you that these limits can be stabilizing. Really dig into the area around those boundaries. There can be deeper, richer resources in these narrow but immovable veins.

Limits create focus which creates concentrated energy; mine the restrictions for enhanced power.

August 6th, 2019: Not A Smooth Day

  • Libra Moon square Mercury in Cancer (25 deg)

  • Moon Void of Course in Libra (3:35 AM EDT)

  • Moon enters Scorpio (11:31 AM EDT)

  • Moon in Scorpio opposes Uranus in Taurus (6 deg)

The last aspect before the Moon goes VOC is a troublesome square to Mercury in Cancer. Emotional words/thoughts will disrupt the balance – the attempt to keep things light and harmonious will be challenged by moody/needy/sensitive Mercury.

If you try to gloss over this crisis, it will get worse. Confront the feels head on while keeping in mind that it’s not all about you or them. Don’t expect smooth moments, and use the brief VOC to exhale and process.

As the Moon enters Scorpio and opposes Uranus, the previous disruptions will lead to something deeper. The info that was saturated in emotion will push the situation to an intense tipping point. Attempts to maintain control/power will be immediately upended by a shock – this could be a truth that exposes a secret, or an unexpected display of freedom. The Scorpio/Taurus axis is about core survival issues, so this will be felt on a deep level.

Keep your eyes open and fearlessly stare down what’s been revealed in the shadows; this is not the time to shy away.

July 24th, 2019: What Really Matters

  • Last Quarter Square between the Taurus Moon and Leo Sun (1 deg)

  • Mercury Rx in Cancer conjunct Venus (26 deg)

The Last Quarter Square can see you questioning what’s showy/obvious as more solid (and perhaps boring things) nudge your awareness. What you can rely on, or what you already have, is worth taking note of – the contrast between this and what’s shouting for attention can reveal important questions about your financial security or values. Back to basics is important.

Mercury Rx conjunct Venus (which rules Taurus) hi-lights the question of values, money or self-esteem. Taking a second look at what you want and need, or revisiting a message/messenger from the past can uncover beneficial information. This aspect can deliver good news, but in the context of the Third Quarter Square, it will also involve deeper questions about what you want/love. This is about more than pleasant words – there’s a clarification of what really matters. If you’re having an important conversation, choose your words carefully for maximum emotional resonance. Go for quiet attraction over drama.

July 22nd, 2019: Goodbye to Cancer Season With a Disseminating Trine

  • Disseminating Trine between the Pisces Moon and Cancer Sun (29 deg)

Just before the Sun enters Leo, it forms a Disseminating Trine with the Moon (4:34 AM EDT). The watery harmony between Pisces and Cancer encourages a gentle, emotional connection – personal (Cancer) blends with transpersonal (Pisces), allowing you to empathize with almost anyone via issues that were previously exclusive and subjective. Pisces also enables release – things that seemed so hurtful and personal are easy to let go of, like water through your fingers.

Others will understand, or you’ll make an instinctive connection to someone without even trying. This is a natural vibe that’s good for sharing what you feel, especially regarding family or nostalgic matters. It’s also a lovely way to finish off Cancer season.

  • Waning Inconjunct between the Aquarius Moon and Cancer Sun (26 deg)

  • Mercury Rx re-enters Cancer (3:06 AM EDT)

The Waning Inconjunct is a reminder that after the up close and personal Full Moon eclipse (on the 16th) it’s time to detach somewhat from those results. You may want to cling to the intensity, even if the results were not in your favour. You may want to wallow or obsess. Obviously you can’t ignore those results, but if you take one step back you’ll see there’s more going on. Perhaps you need to reclaim your independence, your freedom, your individuality. Looking away will feel unnatural, but it’s necessary.

Mercury Rx’s return to Cancer adds another layer to the above. Yes, Cancer is a personal sign, but Mercury Rx is about looking/asking again. So you’re taking a closer look at the subjective issue – you’re applying logic, reasoning, intellect. You’re not just allowing the feelings to wash over you: you’re asking “Why?”

The Waning Inconjunct will give you the needed distance to view those personal/family issues in a new light.

July 11th, 2019: Mars Square Uranus

  • Waxing Trine between the Scorpio Moon and Cancer Sun (19 deg)

  • Mars in Leo trine Chiron Rx in Aries (5 deg)

  • Mars in Leo square Uranus in Taurus (6 deg)

The Waxing Trine enables harmony between what’s safe/comfortable and what can be very uncomfortable. Intensity blends with familiarity, moving you towards a profound exploration of needs, feelings or family issues. Excellent for accessing secrets or personal issues that no one wants to look at. Now’s the chance to dive in and get comfortable in the deeper waters.

The Mars/Chiron trine continues that theme as bold or confident actions trigger healing through courage. The wound is there, but you’ve got the stuff to confront it and move through it – you can stand out/stand up even though you feel vulernable.

But…Mars also squares Uranus. So there will be jolts, accidents, explosions of anger or unexpected displays. Again the backdrop of these smooth trines we have a surge of electricity – it may be a push into the future or an impatient demand for attention, no matter the cost. Maybe this is what triggers the need to go deeper. And it can certainly open up an opportunity for healing (Chiron) through bold actions (Mars).

Mars/Uranus is risky – Mars in Leo likes to play/gamble/grab attention and a hard aspect to Uranus cranks that up. These energies can result in liberation or breakage – caution is advised. What are you trying to accomplish? The current is moving forward but it’s best if you exercise awareness.
