Venus

Continuing the Grand Water Trine, Venus/Chiron suggests deep healing via the full commitment to what you want or love. Venus in Scorpio is not casual – this is an immersion in the beautiful and ugly truths of a relationship, financial or self-esteem issue. The deeper you go, the more access you’ll have to compassion, empathy and acceptance of a wound (Chiron). This is about loving what hurts or finding beauty in what’s flawed and vulnerable.

Note that Venus’ inconjunct to Uranus can provide a shock to the above – some of what’s revealed will not be pleasant and you’ll have to make adjustments. Perhaps you discover more than you bargained for. The challenge will be to integrate this into the flow – can you handle uncomfortable truths?

Vesta/BML

Vesta is focus and Black Moon Lilith is taboo or unacceptable female energy. Here, the focus is on the outsider – the witch/rebel/dangerous woman holds the sacred flame. Aquarius makes this about the collective- perhaps a key issue that no one wanted to acknowledge is unavoidable. Everyone is looking and Lilith’s power is enhanced by the undivided attention.

Vesta is also about purity while BML is considered dark, sexual and “impure”. When the two unite, there are hints of sacred sexuality or devotion to the dark lady on the fringe. Consider where your attention is focused today and why: there’s a reason you can’t look away.

Along with today’s New Moon eclipse, beginnings have a heavy feel but they are weighted in absolute truths. You’ll know where you stand and those with the courage to accept reality will benefit.

January 4th, 2019: Radical Words and a Grand Water Trine

  • Mercury in Sagittarius trine Uranus Rx in Aries (28 deg)

  • Venus in Scorpio trine the Cancer North Node (26 deg)

  • Sun in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces (14 deg)

Mercury/Uranus

Mercury’s freedom-inducing trine to Uranus is a final burst before it enters restrictive Capricorn later today. Uranus amplifies Mercury in Sag’s view of possibilities (and bluntness) by adding innovation and a touch of controversy. Excellent for leaps of logic and radical honesty, which you can then focus once Mercury enters Capricorn.

Uranus is Rx – are you returning to a past issue of liberation or creativity? Does something need to be expressed? Perhaps now is the time to put it into words.

Note that this trine can help you look beyond yesterday’s hurtful Mercury/Chiron square – no matter what went down, there are always new and better options ahead.

Venus/North Node

Venus in Scorpio trine the North Node is part of an ongoing Grand Water Trine that I discussed in this week’s horoscopes:

January 1st to 5th features yet another Grand Water Trine involving Chiron in Pisces and the Cancer North Node. It was activated from November 6th to 8th (by Jupiter in Scorpio) and on November 20th (by the Sun in Scorpio). Now Venus in Scorpio reactivates the potential to address weaknesses and vulnerabilities (Chiron) while moving forward into new emotional territory (North Node). Venus is about relationships, values, finances and self-esteem, so these areas can flow nicely. The North Node will be key – step into a new area that demands emotional honesty and vulnerability.”

Venus in Scorpio is about the deepest possible commitment to what you want or who you love (including yourself). This will involve an uncomfortable amount of honesty, but the rewards will include forward movement (North Node) to a place where your needs are honoured. This is about tuning into what you want and need, and the flow of the trine ensures that this will happen naturally. Meaning, if it doesn’t feel right and move forward without effort, it’s not meant to be.

Sun/Neptune

This influence will be fairly quiet – Neptune will whisper that there are other possibilities beyond current rules and status. Sun in Capricorn can (if you’re aware – this influence will be easy to ignore) gently add warmth to a dream or a belief and allow you to make it real. Nothing dramatic mind you (sorry, no lottery wins).

Overall, I’d say this is a day for being honest with yourself, on an intellectual and emotional level. The trines will make it easy – all you have to do is go with it.

January 1st, 2019: The Year Begins on a Scorpio Note

  • Moon in Scorpio square Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius (16 deg)

  • Moon in Scorpio opposite Juno in Taurus (20 deg)

  • Moon in Scorpio conjunct Ceres (21 deg)

  • Moon in Scorpio conjunct Venus (24 deg)

  • Moon Void of Course in Scorpio (5:26 PM EST)

The Scorpio Moon challenges Black Moon Lilith and Juno – the intensity of deeply honest, transformational needs and emotions will cause tension. Scorpio is the Shadow, and the Moon’s fleeting influence indicates brief incidents of possessiveness (Scorpio) versus freedom (Aquarius) and depth versus the comfortable routine of a relationship agreement (Juno).

Too, you may be exposed to the darker side of rebellion/freedom, as BML’s outsider and dangerous woman triggers manipulative situations. The shadow of Juno’s solid commitment can be projected survival fears and the stubborn refusal to give up control. The Scorpio Moon in hard aspect can illuminate what we don’t want to acknowledge.

Fortunately, the Moon then unites with Ceres (nurturing) and Venus (love, self-esteem) ending the day on a note of profound, boundaryless care (for self or another). The final conjunction to Venus before the Moon goes VOC suggests moments of heady, unfiltered love or the sweet realization that you can enjoy the richness of what you have, to the max (Venus in Scorpio takes a desired objective as far as it will go).

Once the Moon is Void, enjoy the mood and don’t worry about making any more changes or relationship demands, for tonight. Void time is rest time.

Overall, this energy may be heavy for some, but it will reveal truths about what you want, give and feel you deserve.

December 31st, 2018: Depth and Structure

Edward Burne-Jones

Edward Burne-Jones

  • Waning Sextile between the Scorpio Moon and Capricorn Sun (10 deg)

  • Pluto in Capricorn trine Juno in Taurus (20 deg)

Building up to the January 5th New Moon Capricorn eclipse, the Waning Sextile enables the refinement of emerging structures via a peek at what’s going on beneath. Scorpio hints at more below the surface – secrets and emotional intensity. What’s deeper can blend easily with the rules, so you can add form to intensity and depth to what you’re defining. In other words, what’s manifesting won’t be uncontrolled obsession/wallowing but it won’t be a rigid, emotionless cage either.

Pluto (ruler of Scorpio) makes a supportive trine to Juno, suggesting that the above will involve the empowering transformation of a fixed relationship agreement.

We’ve seen this trine before, on December 23rd (when Juno was Rx) so this is the completion of a process that’s been going on for awhile. The slow, steady evolution of a commitment has led you to this moment – how do your rules and boundaries look now?

December 30th, 2018: Nurturing and Loss in a Relationship

John Duncan

John Duncan

  • Juno in Taurus opposite Ceres in Scorpio (20 deg)

  • Pluto in Capricorn sextile Ceres in Scorpio (20 deg)

Continuing December 28th’s themes, Ceres in Scorpio now opposes Juno. Ceres in Scorpio is complete, intensive and demanding nurturing with the added awareness of the “death” part of the cycle of nurturing and loss. Scorpio always intensifies things with undertones of complete transformation (death is the greatest transformation).

So Ceres/Juno pits the stable, unchanging relationship commitment against the transformational powers of nurturing. One partner might demand more than the other can give. Or, this could be an ending that marks a change in one partner’s status (due to illness or loss of resources).

Once again, Pluto is there to support via a sextile, reminding us that these profound shifts are necessary and empowering. There is a “death” occurring in an agreement, but it’s part of the cycle. What comes next?

A reminder that Venus conjoined Ceres on December 27th – the conjunction was a new beginning as love, loss and unconditional care united. What has developed since then and how is it impacting the fixed parameters (or financial rules) of a relationship commitment?
