Venus’ Transit of Sagittarius: What If It’s Going To Be Ok?

Venus’ Sagittarius ingress begins on October 18th. After the exploration of what lay beneath relationship, financial and self-esteem issues, she reaches out and up. The exploration continues, but now the search for new truths and new possibilities takes you over the horizon.

This transit urges you to have faith that something better is coming. Love will improve and grow. What you want may actually be out there, and you can afford it. Beauty lies in the glow of promise that you can see…just over there. If you don’t have faith that things will improve, that things will be ok, you’ll never get out of bed. And you can choose to not have faith. To believe in nothing. You can sit this one out, because sometimes it’s easier to be hopeless. Hope leaves you open to pain.

But…

…for those who want to progress, you have to move on. You have to take that risk and start believing again. Even a rock solid relationship or value system will stagnate if there’s no expansion. And for sure…the pain of an eviscerating love or the abyss of zero self-esteem will remain magnetically fresh if you don’t move forward. You have to make room for something new, even if you’re not certain that you’ll achieve it. With this transit, the cliché about the journey being more important than the goal is true. What you learn along the way is what triggers growth.

Venus will be in mutual reception with Jupiter in Libra. This adds an extra layer of optimism, as Venus and Jupiter strengthen each other. Partnership issues will be key- new ways to cooperate, new people to meet, new things to learn about a partner you’ve been with for many years. For those who’ve been dancing the same, painful relationship dance, these influences can open your eyes to different ways of connecting. Maybe you don’t have to play the role of ____. That’s the core of Jupiter/Sag’s optimism – you are given a broader perspective, which encourages you to try something different. Sag is a Mutable sign – truth is not carved in stone. The downside is “flexible” honesty. The upside is busting out of unhealthy truths you’ve been telling yourself.

Who knows where this might lead?

The Venus/Jupiter sextile (October 26th) will be an important date. Another key date will be Venus’ conjunction with Saturn, on October 29th – the finish line, reality check or formal commitment.

Here are the aspects Venus in Sagittarius will make:

  • Oct 25th: square Neptune Rx, 9 deg Pisces
  • Oct 26th: sextile Jupiter, 10 deg Libra
  • Oct 27th: square the Virgo/Pisces Nodes, 11 deg

How Long Does A Transit Last?

Hi, Elsa. How long does a transit effect a person? Is it a matter of degrees; like if the transit is within 5 or 10 degrees of exact, or is it a matter of what else is going on in … Read More…

Mercury’s Libra ingress happens on October 7th, giving us a break from the relentless analysis of its lengthy Virgo transit.

Mercury in Libra is charming, indecisive and diplomatic. Heavy topics are glossed over in favour of polite and pretty discourse. Discomfort is smoothed over with sugary words. Sometimes it’s ok to back off and just say the nice thing, instead of the right thing. However, final decisions are danced around, because both sides look viable.

Mercury in Libra’s catchphrase is, “What do you think?” Compromise is the theme of this transit. Hopefully it’s balanced compromise, but it can just as easily be unbalanced.

Other Influences on the Ingress

The Libra Sun makes an exact square to Pluto in Capricorn on October 7th, so Mercury will be challenged right out of the gate. Sun/Pluto illuminates the power struggle or combative drive beneath the facade. Mercury’s polite conversation will have more underneath. You can use this mix of influences to open up a civilized dialogue and lightly address the issue, or avoid the topic completely. Just know that Pluto will not be ignored.

Mercury will also make an inconjunct to Ceres Rx in Taurus on October 7th. Ceres Rx in Taurus is a review of personal resources/values that are being nurtured. Mercury in Libra can trigger passive-aggressive comments, if someone is not feeling looked after. The awareness of what’s lacking is there, but the ability to come right out and ask for it is missing. And this could be because it’s not entirely appropriate. And yet, the core necessities can’t be ignored. An inconjunct between Libra and Taurus emphasizes the tension between self and other – both sides must be adjusted.

The Way Forward

As ruler of the transiting North Node in Virgo, Mercury suggests (politely) that a somewhat detached perspective can help you move forward. Mercury in Libra is a master of diplomacy because its not emotional: social strategy and intellectual comparison rule. Listen to what the other person is saying, and factor what you hear into your awareness. Step back from the details you were peering at in Virgo. Look around, and consider the people close to you. Can they help you? Is there a possibility of an exchange? Is it time to deliver your message?

Here are the aspects Mercury in Libra will make:

  • Oct 7th: inconjunct Ceres Rx in Taurus, 1 deg
  • Oct 11th: conjunct Jupiter, 6 deg
  • Oct 12th: inconjunct Neptune Rx in Pisces, 9 deg
  • Oct 13th: square Mars in Capricorn, 11 deg
  • Oct 14th: sextile Saturn in Sagittarius, 12 deg
  • Oct 15th: square Pluto in Capricorn, 15 deg
  • Oct 18th: trine Pallas in Aquarius, 18 deg
  • Oct 19th: inconjunct Chiron Rx in Pisces, 21 deg
  • Oct 20th: opposite Uranus Rx in Aries, 22 deg
  • Oct 23rd: opposite Ceres Rx in Aries, 27 deg
  • Oct 24th: Scorpio ingress

Pluto Direct and Mars into Capricorn: Start Climbing

Mars finally exits Sagittarius for Capricorn on September 27th. Mars has been in Sag more or less since March 5th, 2016 (barring his Rx dip back into Scorpio). That’s a long time to fan the flames of journeys, faith and beliefs. Well, that crusade is over.

Mars does well in Capricorn. He’s exalted  – energy and action are focused. Capricorn disciplines Mars’ raw initiative. This is the “act to make it real” transit. Work, move forward, climb. Slow and steady, but not stagnant. Capricorn is a Cardinal sign, so progress is demanded. And what better planet for progress than Mars?

Faith has been explored. Now it’s about working to make it real. There’s no sentiment, only determination. Control your impulses, corral your anger, and get on with it. If you’ve been burned, Mars in Capricorn is your chance to forge something new. Keep climbing, and don’t look back. If your faith was rewarded, you can build on that. Either way, this transit is about patient ambition and cautious initiative.

Adding to this transit’s potential, Pluto stations direct in Capricorn on September 26th, at 14 degrees. Rx since April 18th, 2016, Pluto’s forward movement tells us that the next chapter in transformation has arrived. Lingering fears and resistance have been churned up and destroyed. Pluto direct, one day before Mars’ Capricorn ingress, means progress. The October 19th conjunction between Pluto and Mars will be significant, as unconscious desires/the evolutionary current (Pluto) meet conscious desires (Mars). Mars acts out what Pluto stirs up.

The Capricorn area of your chart is where you can make visible progress, under these influences. Physical change. There’s always potential for things to go awry, especially when Mars and Pluto meet (destructive anger, violence). These things can become visible as well. So stay conscious of what’s emerging, and how you use your energy. Think “construction” rather than “destruction.”

Here are the aspects Mars in Capricorn will make:

  • Sep 30th: trine Ceres Rx in Taurus, 2 deg
  • Oct 5th: square Jupiter in Libra, 5 deg
  • Oct 11th: sextile Neptune Rx in Pisces, 9 deg
  • Oct 13th: square Mercury in Libra, 11 deg
  • Oct 15th: trine North Node in Virgo, 12 deg
  • Oct 19th: conjunct Pluto, 15 deg
  • Oct 22nd: sextile Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio, 17 deg
  • Oct 27th: sextile Chiron Rx in Pisces, 21 deg
  • Oct 29th: square Uranus Rx in Aries, 21 deg
  • Nov 2nd: square Ceres Rx in Aries, 25 deg
  • Nov 9th: Aquarius ingress

Venus’ Transit of Scorpio: Beauty of the Coiled Truth

Venus enters Scorpio on September 23rd. Relationships, values, self-esteem and financial issues get real, as truths are exposed with unblinking passion. But this transit is not just about the intense desire to possess. Venus in Scorpio’s intensity comes from in-depth exploration – going beneath the surface to understand the truth of the attraction. Why is this relationship satisfying/not satisfying? Why do you want this person or item? How far can you push this attraction? She is the beauty in what many consider ugly, frightening or forbidden.

Virgo is the sign of intellectual analysis, but Scorpio is instinctive analysis.

True intimacy happens when limits are crossed, in a healthy, empowering way. Venus in Scorpio achieves value with this intimacy, and when she is involved with people that contribute to her security and transformation. Venus wants to be secure in this sign, but she is confronted with the Scorpio push to evolve. Slow, powerful change versus the focus on absolute control creates a point of tension. Do you remain stuck in the obsession, which is the illusion of control (habitual monitoring of another person)? Or do you take a deep breath and dive, pushing past the pain of rejection, abandonment and vulnerability? Venus in Scorpio’s power (her true power) comes from her fearless exposure of the desire that waits patiently in the shadows.

You may simply experience a steamy attraction with this transit. It doesn’t have to be a life-changing influence. Or, you may be more inclined to expose the real you, because it feels sexy and powerful. But the base dynamics will be same: intensity through access to the truth that lies coiled at the heart of the issue.

Venus’ Scorpio ingress will happen one day after the Sun enters Venus-ruled Libra, and Mercury stations direct in Virgo. The strategic energy around the Fall Equinox will be intensified with Venus in Scorpio. She’ll be resonating on two levels, simultaneously: surface relationships/balance/harvest (Sun in Libra) and what’s beneath the surface. With Mercury direct for an added shot of analysis.

So many layers to be revealed. You can learn some rich, fascinating details about yourself and/or another. This may go back to August 29th, when Venus conjoined Mercury in Virgo, and Venus entered Libra. Check this post for a review of that day.

Here are the aspects Venus in Scorpio will make:
