October 6th, 2019: Turning Point

James Tissot

  • Libra Sun square the Capricorn South Node/Cancer North Node  (13°)

  • Jupiter in Sagittarius square Juno in Virgo (19°)

Today is a day of turning points.

Sun square the Nodes says that you have a choice in a relationship, exchange or issue that involves balance. You can stick with the old rules/ traditions or move forward to something that’s unfamiliar but more emotionally satisfying and nurturing.

This is been an ongoing issue since September 22nd when Mercury in Libra squared the Nodes and September 25th when Venus in Libra did the same. Mercury and Venus highlighted specific issues, but the Sun will act as a general spotlight and reminder that you still need to address an imbalance. The crisis of this difficult choice is your turning point.

Jupiter/Juno tells us more about this. Lofty ideals and expansion will challenge the specifics of a relationship agreement. There may be an urge to race past the tedious details, but that in itself can expose flaws and discontent in the relationship. Perhaps dwelling on the flaws is ruining the partnership’s future.

Juno was Jupiter’s wife in mythology. She remained faithful to him despite his constant philandering. So when this archetypal couple forms a hard aspect, we can also expect issues of freedom versus fidelity plus relationship right versus wrong. In this case, Juno is demanding a detailed account of the present (where are we now) while Jupiter would rather concentrate on the future.

Again, this can describe the turning point in your relationships. What is unacceptable to you- the specifics or the promises/ ideals? Is compromise possible? Whose version of the truth is “correct”?

October 5th, 2019: Crisis and Discomfort

  • First Quarter Square between the Capricorn Moon and Libra Sun (12°)

  • Mercury in Scorpio inconjunct Chiron RX in Aries (3°)

The 1st Quarter Square triggers a crisis between relationships and boundaries. Libra Sun wants to be sociable and agreeable, but Capricorn says it’s time to say “No” or express your authority. This will feel uncomfortable, but it will be even more uncomfortable to try to make everyone happy. Take action and draw your line.

Mercury/ Chiron adds to the discomfort as deep analysis or intense words reveal painful issues. You may be tempted to not look at or speak about the taboo issue because the wound is still fresh. Or, you may be so preoccupied with fighting the ongoing battle that you forget to look beneath the surface.

Chiron RX means you are revisiting a previous wound and this is the ideal moment to uncover more information/ secrets. Don’t be afraid to look deeper this time around. The 1st Quarter Square indicates that events will push you forward if you act -you can progress. You just have to be willing to confront the ugly stuff.

Mars Enters Libra

Mars enters Libra on October 4th (12:21 AM EDT). Mars is supposedly weak and its opposite sign, because Libra is ruled by Venus. And it can be difficult to take direct, assertive action during this transit since there is an increased emphasis on weighing the pros and cons (which can degenerate into waffling) and waiting to see what the other person wants rather than standing up for yourself.

Mars can also be terribly passive aggressive in this sign: anger is expressed with sugarcoated barbs or projected hostility. “Everything’s fine” is said through gritted teeth.

But I find that this can be a very, very competitive placement for Mars. Libra is a Cardinal sign, which means there’s a drive to be first. That drive maybe expressed with more strategy and refinement than Aries but never underestimate this energy. Relationships and social strategies will have an increased undertone of competitiveness during this transit-it’s not your imagination. Flirtation and sexual energy will seem sweet on the surface, but underneath there’s a carefully disguised urgency to win.

You can work with this by reading the room before you act. Watch for the social cues and listen to what your partner wants. Then, act accordingly or assert yourself with a bit of finesse. You you can be polite but firm rather than screaming (to express your anger). You’d be amazed at how effective you can be when you mix a bit of sugar with that fire.

This transit is also excellent for encouraging partners to work together in a more balanced manner. They do something for you, you do something for them and it’s win-win. It’s about strategy.

But since Libra is the sign of balance it is also the sign of imbalance. That means there can also be a risk of actions veering to extremes. Meaning, you do nothing and then become frustrated at your inaction and do something that sends the scales crashing to the floor. Or, you do everything for someone and they do nothing in return. Pay attention to those moments that trigger imbalances; this will tell you a lot about where your energy is best spent and where you should walk away. The ideal Mars in Libra efforts are poised and precise.

Mars enters Scorpio on November 19th.

October 1st, 2019: Venus Square Pluto and Relationship Dynamics

Juan de Flandes

Juan de Flandes

  • Venus in Libra Square Pluto RX in Capricorn (20°)

  • Neptune RX in Pisces opposite Juno in Virgo (16°)

  • Juno in Virgo opposite Black Moon Lilith in Pisces (16°)

Venus/ Pluto is the crisis between the surface of relationships versus darker truths underneath. The uncomfortable issues, symbolized by Pluto, will create tension that draws your awareness to inconvenient truths. This tension can manifest as obsessive attractions, jealousy or manipulative one- on- one exchanges.

The separating Neptune/Lilith conjunction challenges precise, correct relationship agreements (Juno). BML is the other woman/whore/witch and Juno is the “good wife”. These extreme symbols will be in play somehow, even if it’s someone’s distorted view of the virgin/whore dichotomy.

In this case, Lilith is the slippery seductress and Juno is the faithful “virgin.” As outdated as these manifestations may be, they still hold power over some people. You may be surprised to discover untapped feelings of guilt or judgment toward yourself or someone else who embodies Lilith or Juno.

Along with the subterranean truth of the Venus/ Pluto square, the Lilith/Juno opposition can reveal some interesting relationship dynamics.

September 29th, 2019: Sun Inconjunct Uranus

  • Sun in Libra inconjunct Uranus in Taurus (5°)

Uranus in Taurus demands radical changes to set habits and resources. But the inconjunct to the Sun says these changes will be difficult to integrate with a relationship or the overall equality of a situation.

There maybe sudden urges to express yourself in odd ways. Or, the harmony between you and another may be unexpectedly disrupted. Change (and freedom) is necessary but not at the expense of balance.

The challenge of this aspect is to find a way to work with what’s unworkable. Some disruptions (like changes to finances and security) can be out of your control as they push you to the extreme end of your tolerance. If this happens, step back and detach yourself from panicky reactions.

The point of balance has shifted -find the new centre.
