Have you seen a lot of romantic comedies in your time? Specifically the kind of movie where you have a couple who at first appear to be completely at odds, or just somehow you wouldn’t think they’re good for each other, but by the end they live happily ever after? That’s a little like what the romance forecast is like this week. Not necessarily the happy ending part, but the building romantic tension bit.
Venus in Scorpio is gaining strength and slowing down before it turns retrograde next week, and it is forming the square aspect to Mars in Aquarius. Let me describe the character of these two placements, then get to work on your own love life and write the script for them yourself!
Venus in Scorpio (Julia Roberts) is a professional who is dedicated to the things and people that she loves most, but sometimes she’s a little too goal-oriented for her own good. She’s charming and witty but keeps getting dragged into sticky situations with her friends and co-workers, who wish she’d just find a nice guy and settle down so that maybe she’d do a little less meddling in their lives.
Mars in Aquarius (Hugh Grant) is charming, sociable, and well-liked, but he’s having a hard time settling down into what most people would consider to be a normal adult life. Still, because of all that charm and good looks, Mars in Aquarius keeps getting away with his juvenile shenanigans.
When Venus and Mars — regardless of their sign — form an aspect, sex drives can get turned way up. People will sometimes say and do foolish things to get the love and attention they want. You can probably see how that would make for an entertaining movie, but it’s not necessarily the sort of principle you want to run your life by. Or is it? Hey, maybe you love the drama. If that’s the case, this is the week for you. However, if what you’re seeking is a little less drama in your love life and a little more common sense, you’re going to have to really use your head this week. And good luck with that, because being (or hearing) the voice of reason is not going to be particularly easy this week, with Mercury square Pluto and Mercury opposite Uranus. You may think you want to play it all cool and rational, but when Mercury is under this kind of pressure it’s hard to think clearly. Try not to lose it with someone and turn your romantic comedy into King Kong Versus Godzilla!
