More Classes for March: Happy Vernal Equinox

Better Dragon

I’m happy to announce some new classes/class formats coming up in March/April.  Ideas for these classes are based on my conversations with my students –aside from the more long term courses like Progressions One, there is room for shorter, less time-consuming classes that will focus on specific skills and techniques in astrology.

The first course  I’m excited to announce is Independent Study 101.  What’s the topic?  It’s up to you.  Remember Independent Study courses in college, where you could delve into whatever topic aroused your passion?  That’s what this course is for:  to bring your skills and analysis up to speed, while we study whatever aspect of astrology turns you on.   Want more practice on Draconic Charts?  Itching to sharpen your synastry skills?  Need more practice in the more refined aspects of Progressions? Just want more practice synthesizing natal charts?  I will help you choose curriculum/charts/subject matter if you prefer.  You can make a tremendous amount of progress in three lessons if they are focused and structured the right way.

The fee is $150 for three lessons of about 1hr 15 min.  Some rules:  1) no personal charts, especially synastries (it then turns into a reading, with me doing all the talking).  2) It works better if the charts we work on are related by some theme: music, arts, people who are notorious for one thing or another.  If we do two lessons that are themed, and you can convince me that a personal chart fits in the picture in some way (similar aspects, etc.) I will consider using it as a third lesson.  For example, if we study the charts of two great dancers, and your sister wants to become a dancer, it might be interesting to use that chart.  The three lessons do not all have to be on one theme.  The two dancers plus sis could be one lesson.

The exception to the ‘no personal charts’ rule is a series of family-themed readings.  Fairly accurate birth times are necessary.  Exploring the themes between family members can often unlock relationship blockages that merge into all areas of life.

The question has been asked, “What’s the difference between this and the Deep Cuts courses?  Deep Cuts is geared towards advanced students, with emphasis on interpreting house and sign rulership and planetary dispositors.  I usually have specific techniques with Deep Cuts that I want to explore, pushing the envelope of a student’s ability.  With Independent Study, there are no pre-requisites and classes will be geared to your level of ability.

If you prefer me to pick out a topic, somewhat like Deep Cuts, the theme is disability:  physical disability, mental disability, and depression in the chart.  We can stretch this to see how disability is portrayed in the movies.

To sign up, send an email to alcuin9@gmail.com with the heading ‘Independent Study.’  Classes begin the same week as Progressions One.  These three part open-topic sessions will only be offered until mid-April.

The Foundations Course, beginning a bit later, will be announced tomorrow.
