Love Horoscope for the Week of August 18

weeklyloveThis week in the Zodiac is a festival of mixed messages and peculiar tensions. Your best bet is to stay calm, prepare in advance, enjoy the good while it lasts, and most importantly: remember that whenever difficult times come, eventually they leave.

The week starts placidly enough with Venus and Jupiter conjunct in Leo and Mercury opposite Neptune. This, plus Moon in Gemini, can make for a happy, jovial time when no one is particularly focused on the fiddly little details of life. Normally I wouldn’t recommend taking a “party attitude” towards the Monday and Tuesday routine, but you might want to do whatever you can to inject a bit of that mood into your life, because frankly the rest of the week could be a little bit rough.

Have you ever tried to open a bag of potato chips with no success, then suddenly you find that if you pull in a slightly different way, the whole thing rips open and the chips fly everywhere? This is the potential that we face this week, thanks to an awkward team-up of Mars, Saturn and Uranus.

The Saturn-Uranus quincunx is still within less than a degree of being exact, and this week Mars enters the equation, approaching the exact conjunction to Saturn. Although the exact aspect may not happen until next week (and what a New Moon next week starts with!) the tension will be building and will peak on the weekend. Combined with a currently-softened (but still lurking) Uranus-Pluto square, you are likely to feel the effects somehow. Even if there isn’t anything happening at 16 degrees of anywhere in your chart (where the Mars-Saturn-Uranus imbroglio is happening), it’s bound to be affecting someone in your environment.

Many of you have patterns and habits and relationships that need breaking, or at the very least need a serious makeover. On the one hand, the Saturn-Uranus quincunx provides ample opportunity for that, but on the other hand it is a less than perfectly stable base to build upon. If you want to find yourself out of a difficult personal situation, it will require you to double down on both common sense and creativity. Having said that, if you can get the hang of that particular combination, this could be an excellent week for changing your life.

It’s noteworthy that the Moon goes Void of Course mid-Thursday, and carries on that way for more than 24 hours, until it enters Leo on Friday. Try to get your weekly projects wrapped up by Thursday morning at the latest if you can.

You may feel a sudden burst of energy in one particular department of your life as the Sun enters Virgo on Friday night/Saturday morning, and this could be conducive to a happy, romantic weekend. However, keep in mind that on Sunday the Moon in Leo will be square Mars, square Saturn, and Void of Course the entire day until Monday morning. Whatever your big exciting plans for the weekend are, get them wrapped up by Saturday night.
