Everyone seems to love “passion” and wants more of it, without realizing that there is in fact more than one kind of passion. There is the ideal, physical passion, and other kinds as well. Confusing one form of passion with another can lead to some unpleasant results. Imagine someone entering a theater to watch The Passion Of The Christ thinking “Oh boy, finally… a movie about how much the Messiah loves his Beanie Baby collection!”
Surprise, surprise.
This week features an emphasis on both the Venus and Mars varieties of passion.
Venus in Gemini is allegedly all about flirting and the gamesmanship that goes into romance. Regardless of where your heart is at, when it comes to relationships you may find your mind wandering. Venus is relatively unaspected this week until the weekend, when it is square Neptune. Imagine a hyperactive child left relatively unsupervised at the daycare all day long until he finds that flask of brandy Ms. Johnson hides in her purse, and this gives you some idea of how an unaspected Venus in Gemini can go wrong when it makes that square to Neptune just in time for date night.
Meanwhile Mars, which is the more bold and sexual side of “passion,” is still moving along through Libra. Venus rules Libra, and with Venus under the conditions I described in the previous paragraph, Mars may go a little astray this week too. It spends the week opposite Uranus, with the exact aspect happening midweek. If this week’s Venus is an unsupervised child, this week’s Mars might be a little more like an unleashed dog.
Now, if all of this sounds pretty exciting to you, you’d be right. Remember that “exciting” can be like “passion,” in that a little too much of the wrong kind can be a bad thing. Like last week, this particular mix calls for a little logic and common sense. And please note: Mercury is still retrograde and mostly unaspected in Gemini, which is not necessarily the world’s greatest combination for “common sense.”
If you’re looking to get a grip on the circumstances of your life, Friday’s New Moon in Cancer is an excellent time to set down your intentions for doing so. This particular New Moon is opposite Pluto, which gives it more punch than average. Spell out your intentions clearly, figure out the steps you need to take, and make it happen!
Finally, on the weekend, the Moon is square Uranus and square Mars, and the Sun is trine Neptune. Literally and figuratively, the weekend has “designated driver alert” written all over it.
